Do the book chapters stop being POV after a while and become traditional book chapters?

i guess Needle has a force field that blocks arrows, swords and traitorous *******s

She can raise Needle over her head and shout: "For the honor of Grayskull!"

And you know how the rest would go down.

No. Every chapter is a character's first-person POV. I don't know what you mean by "traditional book chapters."

I believe he means as if the story was written from a third persons perspective like the Potter books.

Well the book chapters are titled as to whoever that chapter is about. 'Tyrion,' 'Eddard' etc. The released chapter from The Winds of Winter is titled 'Mercy,' with people speculating it's about Arya. So I was wondering whether later books shift to traditional third-person perspective storytelling or whether POV chapters are kept and they just have titles.

It is an Arya chapter. Mercy is the name she uses in that chapter, which is a nickname for Mercedene.

Finished GoT before I went to bed last nite. About to start ACoK in a bit. Man, these books are just soooo much better than the show! I've literally never read a book where I knew exactly what was gonna happen and still been so entranced by it. I will say though, the show has added a TON of awesome scenes and character interactions, in the first season alone, that weren't in the book that were just great and really added somethin more to the characters. Like Theon and Osha's scene together or Tywin and Jaime at the beginning of episode 7. Wish they could've worked Tyrion being a bad ass in that battle though. These books are practically ruining the show for me lol

ACoK is so much better than season 2, I think you'll get a kick out of some of the stuff they didn't utilize in the show.

The show really does do justice to the books in that regard, IMO. I mean, I knew that Robb was gonna bite it at the Red Wedding quite a bit of time before it happened in the show, and yet I was still invested in the whole thing. That's because in GoT the how and why of what happens is, in a way, much more involving than the events themselves.

I sure hope its better than season 2. Theon and Tyrion's stories were the only ones I was really interested in in season 2.

Man, season two's opening scene should have been the same as ACoK with Maester Cressen's attempt to kill Melisandre. It really should have. Can already tell Stannis' story has been butchered on the show. Was Lady Selyse even in season 2??

Only as an extra in the first Ep.

Cressen's relationship with Stannis as a whole was cut.

Yeah, after having read the Prologue chapter of A Clash of Kings, it seems like the show could have done that thing more justice. Maybe even done better by Stannis, even though I'm not even half way through with the book yet. And it not that it was bad on the show, but I felt like I understood Stannis way more and felt compelled to be in his corner after that very first chapter.

Just got to Daros first chapter in the book. It was interesting to see things from the perspective of a "lowborn" character within this world. I'm quite enjoying the book so far.

Yeah, it's an interesting give and take. Off the top of my head, I thought leaning into the animosity between Jamie and Ned was a good move. Adding the scenes they did on the show were great, and having them face off in the streets was something I found more interesting to see unfold than having a horse land on Ned, and because of how they built up to it in the show.

Also, Drogo. You hear alot about how badass he is and how skilled a fighter he is. Squeezing in a small scene where he seemingly destroyed an opponent on the show with relative ease was another good move, I thought.

Was it quite disappointing when season 2 came out? (for book readers)

To an extent yeah. I know a lot of people were disappointed by the way Jon, Stannis and Dany's storylines were handled. But at the same time Blackwater was such an achievement for the show and for television in general that I don't think it's met with too much disapproval.

Ya know what I would absolutely love to read? A novel about Mance leaving the Night's Watch and amassing his army beyond the wall. That couldn't have been an easy feat at all.
