HBO's Game of Thrones - - Part 16

I think many fans will drop $130 for one of these

This impressive Game of thrones figure will go up for sale this weekend. Standing 8.7″ tall, he includes interchangeable hands, a goblet, a book and proper clothes.

I this is the level of detail we can expect of threezero's GoT figures, I can't wait to see who's next. And by that I mean, dear Korean Jesus, it better be Davos.

These guys make some pretty cool figurines

Picture that final scene you're thinking of while the new version of Rains of Castamere plays, particularly that part before the regular lyrics kick in...

"....Castttttaaaameeereee.....Castttttaaaameeereee..."

Seriously though, the new version by Sigur Ros sounds more like a haunting dirge by the victims cursing their slayers than the triumphant boast the original version is.

And on a related note, I want to point this hilariously ironic bit of symbolism out:

Tyrion has said "All dwarfs are bastards in their fathers' eyes."

Bastards traditionally flip the color of their father's sigil in Westeros. Tyrion is thus symbolically a red lion, if technically a golden one. "A coat of gold, a coat of red, a lion still has claws..."

The Rains of Castamere is ultimately a song about a fight between lions that ends tragically. None of the main Lannister line are in their ancient home of Casterly Rock, with the "Old Lion" overseeing his heir presumptive's fateful trial while his other "cubs" are constrained by vows or gender. "And now the rains weep o'er his hall, with not a soul to hear..."

If the law of irony holds true, some lions are going to bit the dust...

I'm kind of over hearing Rains of Castamere. We've heard it like 3 or 4 times this season and I think they're flogging it too much. It was appropriate during Blackwater when Tywin won and during the Red Wedding, and the heroic version serves as Jaime's theme well but there's other songs in the series worth using.

If they really cared about thematic use of GRRM's songs then they'd use Last of the Giants for episode 9.

I think Rains of Castamere was quite fitting at the end of Tyrion's outburst when the credits rolled. It was like a 'victory' for a Lannister. 2 opposing lions: Tywin and Tyrion.

I agree with the Bastard of the Dreadfort.
The version at the trial worked as a triumph for Tyrion. And it shows Tywin's slaughter of the Tarbecks come around and bite his bottom.

Not that this is a surprise, but here's more confirmation that we'll see the [blackout]Sand Snakes[/blackout].

Glad to see
the High Sparrow will be a prominent character. I'm both pleased and concerned with the list, my concern being the lack of Greyjoy siblings.
.

I almost get the impression that they're trying to give GRRM time to get the last couple of books out of the way.

I wouldn't be concerned about [blackout] The Greyjoys [/blackout] being cut. It's only a partial leak and the fact that they're including [blackout] Hotah [/blackout] of all characters should give some indication of where they're going with it.

I haven't read AFFC yet, but from what I know of their stories in that and ADWD they seem pretty important so I doubt they'll cut them.

Just got to the part in ASOS where Oberyn tells Tyrion he'll be his champion, so I'm nearly caught up. It is a little weird because the story structure is a lot different than on the show - I already know how the Battle of the Wall will go down - and I think I prefer the show structure, to be honest. I especially prefer show Oberyn. He gets a lot more screentime there and is awesome. So far he's had like two scenes, his arrival at King's Landing and as a judge at Tyrion's trial.

Though, in fairness, Cersei is just as much Joffrey's mother-aunt as Jamie is his uncle-dad.

I don't see the purpose for including Hotah unless they may play him off as the new Hound with Arianne.

These are also open casting calls. They may not be holding open auditions for Victarion or Euron. I can see Aeron being cut since he disappears after 3 chapters. Victarion and Euron are too important to exclude or roll into one.

Here's the answer to my question:

Graves: I have to be careful how I answer that. First of all the show is still in the books and it won’t be out of the books here for another season and hopefully by then the first of the last book will be done. But I can only say that David and Dan and George have it all very well in hand.

One season for AFFC and ADWD. I am telling ya. :yay:

It sounds like it. For some reason, I was thinking we'd get AFFC/ADWD/and some TWOW in the next season.

Sansa is Boy George, Joffrey is Nellie Oleson... what's next? Bran being Rebecca Hall?

Seriously, Bran kind of looks like Rebecca Hall now. :o
