Question though, why did Arya start laughing when they told her that her Aunt died?

Arya broke free from the walls of the show and saw into the soul of George R.R. Martin and instantly knew nothing is just nothing. Also death and very detailed descriptions of food.

**** this show.

Note to self:
Don't add anymore characters to your favorites list. Martin like to feast on your disgust, shock, sadness, and anger

Holy ****!

I kept repeating "Oh My GOD" for a few mins after that! And just had to rewatch the final minute.

That was the most brutal/beautiful thing I've ever seen(totally unexpected). Took me right back to the 80's slasher films as a kid.

AWESOME.

BBad was always consistently suspenseful. But GOT is Brutally Consistent. A+++ tonight.

I'm not too sure. It seemed out of character. I think she was laughing at her own bad luck. Every time the Hound tries to deliver her to a relative they end up being dead.
She was laughing because the Hound took her there for a reward, only to find out the entire trip was pointless. That, also because of their bad luck.

Yup.

My buddy just finished the episode and he was texting me just as pissed off. I need to kill off my emotions when I watch this show from now on.

Why DID she start laughing?
Because the extreme bad luck and absurdity of their situation (constantly being taken on a long journey to be united with a family member only to learn those family members died just before they got there) is cause for one to either laugh or cry, and a budding sociopath like Arya is more likely to lean toward the former. :cwink:

In all honesty... (Book spoilers)

The only "safe" characters are Dany, Tyrion and maybe, maybe Jon Snow (pending the resolution of what happened at the end of book 5 - I'm among those that's convinced he's going to survive the incident). Not that all or any of them will make it to the end of the series... but they're probably safe until the climax, at least. They're essentially the three leads in the story, and they've all got relatively significant "plot armor" around them.

I was lucky to make it through the rest of the episode after the Missandei river scene. For the love of the Old Gods and the New!!!! :wow:

Then of course they had to goth Sansa up, and then I was really lucky to make to the Viper vs. the Mountain. :woot:

Fight was fantastic, and the ending perfect in how it destroyed me. I loved Oberyn on the show, far more then in the books. It crushes you that he had it and let it go, not just for him but for Tyrion. Tyrion and Jaime's conversation before the battle was almost as good as the fight, which is saying something. Also, great reaction shots of Jaime during the fight.

The rest of the episode was great. From Arya's laughing (the perfect reaction), Sansa's lying, Jorah finally getting what he deserves, the adorableness of Missandei and Grey Worm, and the calm before the storm at the Wall, good, good stuff. Heck Ramsay being legitimized would have almost been heartwarming if they weren't murdering psychopaths.

Finally, looks like all of episode 9 will be at the Wall, if the preview is any indication. Time for Jon to take center stage.

Jon doesn't know who his mother is, and thus cannot be dead. GRRM has always said he'd learn his true parentage. Can't do that if he is dead, and more importantly it wouldn't matter if he is dead.

I'd add Sansa, Arya, Rickon and Bran to the list of those with "plot armor".

I thought the Mountain's little tumble backwards looked a little funny in the episode, and that GIF makes it easier to spot. The actor's fall, to coincide with Oberyn's leap and stabbing, could have been done a little better.

Probably all true. Plus, the original title of the 7th book (before its change to A Dream of Spring) was "A Time for Wolves," which certainly seems to suggest the Starks making a major return.

Dany's armor is obviously that we know the dragons are going to reach Westeros eventually... and Tyrion's is that it's long been foretold that he's going to kill Cersei himself. Granted, George could take that away, but I doubt he will. Plus, Tyrion is the guy's favorite character, by his own admission.

Exactly. At that point, all you can do is laugh. :funny:

My brother is still pissed. Can't even watch Penny Dreadful. This is by far the mosy painful thing they have done since Ned. The Red Wedding was so shocking, but none of them were really all that likable. Oberyn may have been the most likable character on the show not named Arya.

Guess I can finally post the image...

:funny:
There are times I wonder if his "I want to avoid all of the cliches" approach has become, well... a cliche. He gets predictable, if only because you know he's striving NOT to be.

Entirely debatable. There are those among us that very much supported Robb Stark... :csad:

so the books are still ongoing? there's no endgame yet?

I still think either Arya or Sansa will murder Cersei, but we shall see.

Yeah, I expect the final book will see the Starks kicking butt. The last two books they have been gathering power and skills. Heck even Nymeria is gather a wolf army.

That is exactly why I don't understand why anyone would buy Jon being dead. At this point he has almost become a parody of himself. The only rule that has held in the books is that non-prologue and epilogue POV characters never die in their own POV.

so the books are still ongoing? there's no endgame yet?
That's correct. There have been 5 published and two more confirmed on their way. But a recent interview with Martin's editor has hinted at the possibility of the whole thing being stretched to 8 books.

I really like Robb, both in the book and on the show. But Robb was no Ned or Oberyn. He was not Tyrion or Arya.

In otherwords, GRRM will die before the books are finished.
