The whole series is only 18 episodes and thats it. We just wanted to make a really long movie. Its one school year and a complete story, McBride said at the shows premiere. This was an old screenplay that Jody [Hill] and I wrote back in 2006. But we needed it to be longer so we added and reworked it and broke it up into 18 segments.
HBO trusted us to make those episodes without anyone watching them, so they really, really trust us, McBride said.
When asked if they would be interested in making more episodes if the first two seasons go well, executive producer and director Hill had a very simple answer. No, he said. We already shot the 18 episodes and thats it.
Vice Principals premieres July 17 on HBO.
I'm liking this one more than Eastbound and Down and I loved that show.
McBride is way funnier if he has someone to match the comedic insanity of another actor. The dynamic between Kenny Powers and Stevie wasn't as funny as McBride and Goggins, and that's just one episode.
Really? I don't think this will top Eastbound, but that's just me.
Agreed. Eastbound was just so crazy. And it's a rarity where the blooper was funnier than the final cut. "LET THE BOY WATCH."Really? I don't think this will top Eastbound, but that's just me.
It has a very Eastbound feel to it, yea.... I thought it was hilarious... too soon to say which is better, but so far i think Coggins(??) is a better costar than anyone in Eastbound was. I lost my **** when McBride said "You know what happens to kids in I.S.S.? They get turned the **** out."
