True......and I make my prediction now.

Heath will win the 2009 Oscar for Best Supporting Actor..........

The Oscar's will go against the norm of picking "real" people....and his portrayal of The Joker will win him an Oscar....*smiles*

Well, seeing as how recent his death was it would've been a very last minute addition. Still a great gesture though.

if his performance is as off the charts as we have been hearing then yes, i think this is an actual possibilty.

could heath's last gift to batfans be ligitimizing comic book roles? we shall see...

I think it very well could be...

I thought it was pretty stupid that 'E! news' and the 'TV guide' channels covered the Screen Actors Guild Awards..but they only showed the actors/actresses walking on the red carpet...not the actual awards. :(. But I did see the Heath Ledger Tribute (back at 6pm) I miss him dearly, as do thousands or even millions of others.

Y'know, I doubted it before; I thought he might get a nomination, but that there was no way he would actually win.

But now, I'm staring to think it's an actual possibility...

Only thing that would hurt him would be the cause of his death coming out as a drug overdose combined with the stupid media coverage of it.... which in my opinion shouldn't matter as long as his performance deserves it!

Yeah but if they give Heath even just a fraction of a Nom, then they must give a NOM to Bale for Best Actor, and maybe BEST PICTURE due in part you cant just say the supporting actor was the best part of a film. There has to be more involved. Its not like its some low budget joe doing this film. Or someone like MCG. This is Christopher Nolan, who makes a great film everytime out. This isnt just an ordinary action packed film based off a comic book. This is a man taking stories and making it one long story in 2-2:30 hours with action sequences.

To be clear, I mean this as long as he deserves it.

Realisticly the voters say no its a summer flick. But who cares if a film deserves its Nominations at the least give it to them.

very somber awards show. between refro and ledger and the writer's strike it seems like there is a pall over hollywood right now.

edit: even giving "no country" best cast seems to be indicitive of the mood.

You also have to factor in the fact that this is number 2 on a trilogy... I think voters will want to see number 3 before really awarding the series, like LOTR.

Yes they can.......and probably will.......there is no rule that says you can't give a supporting actor nom, without the others......

I mean it would be great if TDK got a nom, but I doubt that will happen....but the type of role that Heath took on, and from what I've seen he has taken it far beyond anything anyone could have imagined, then I can definitely see him getting the nomination, and winning.

Yup, didn't Tommy Lee Jones win best supporting actor for The Fugitive when the movie got no other noms in major categories ?

look at sigourney from aliens (tech awards not with standing) and depp from pirates. no other major noms for either movie. if the performance makes a big enough impact its been known to happen

the fugitive was actually nominated for a few awards including best picture:wow:
