Just having a read of the Sunday papers and spotted this. I found the online version for my bat friends :):

It reads like a tabloid. :oldrazz:

Plus, didn't Heath and Michelle split after he had finished work on TDK?

Gawd, for a month after I saw Brokeback Mountain (and bought the soundtrack), I would be haunted hearing that piece. I even used it as my wake-up music since I would always, always wake up when I heard it. And feel haunted again. Now it's making me :csad:

Aw, what a sweet story. :yay:

Good news. Heath's L.A. memorial was held, and it sounds as if the Westboro Church didn't show up to protest.

Yeah, it happened last night and it was a private memorial. The public was not privy to it until after it happened.

I'm :woot: over:

Silently, I curse the moment that Heath first skated onto our set in full character makeup. I'd fretted about the reaction of Batman fans to a skateboarding Joker....
So I suppose he's at least aware of our rabid fandom. :cwink:

im glad WBC hasnt been able to do anything. i actually sent them an email earlier today.

CNN to air Heath Ledger Special Instead of Bush's Last State of the Union Address

Unconfirmed sources report that CNN has decided to air a special commemorating the life of actor Heath Ledger instead the State of the Union Address. The special is a four hour biographical study of Ledger with several interview segments and movie clips, including many from the young star's most recent film Broke Back Mountain. There are also rumors swirling that ABC, CBS, NBC and FOX may be planning their own Ledger specials to compete with CNN's offering.

The Washington pundit class is all a flutter over the choice CNN has made to pass on coverage of the State of the Union Address, but Jonathan Klein, president of CNN is unapologetic.

"Look, we here at CNN pride ourselves on broadcasting the most relevant news to our public every moment of the day." Explained Klein. "Heath Ledger may have been young, but as an actor he showed great promise. His lose is big big news. His life is an allegorical tale of the risks of success in America today. This coming State of the Union, on the other had, is just not that news worthy. How many people are going to tune into listen to a discredited and powerless President try to spin a legacy out of a failed administration?"

"Klein, makes a good point." Says Washington watcher Bill Cummings, of the Cummings Research Group, a media think tank. "When you think of the blather Bush fobbed off as a State of the Union Address the last few times, it makes sense to broadcast almost anything else. It's just unseemly to totally ignore the President, even if the speech is likely to be as substantive as say The Girls Next Door, shown on the E! channel."

Even if the major networks pass on the State of the Union Address you can still catch in C-Span, NPR and Public Television.

That's hilarious, but also rather depressing. CNN turning into an entertainment network.

Thanks.....if you can't do this.....then we will have to close this thread....it is getting a heavy amount of reported posts, and we don't have time to live in here cleaning up messes.......use the ignore button.

Heres a question, if a post gets reported alot because people dont like it, but its really not breaking any rules, is that person still supposed to be banned?

I ask out of true curiosity because I personally think thats complete crap. It just seems like there alot of wannabe hall monitors in here and if you have an opinion that differs from theirs, rather then discuss it like adults, they run to the mods and cry like babies to get that person banned. Its pathetic.

It brought a tear to my eye Heath had some much other stuff he wanted to do in his life. I really believe Heath would have been one hell of a director. I just hope there some movie scripts he wrote that are so great and amazing that can win him an academy award and an oscar. More, importantly I hope he wins an academy award and an oscar for playing the Joker.

I know, the acadamy has a tendency to turn a blind eye to comic films but I hope he gets some recognition because every thing that Iv heard indicates something pretty amazing.

Don't worry, it's a spoof site. They're taking a shot at the way the whole thing has turned into a media circus and they are absolutely spot on.

Touching, but it is really necessary? I don't think so..

Yeah, they should be looking for the next terrorist attack, at least they'll have something a lot more important than Ledger's death. I guess CNN forgot all about the troops dying in the war. This country has gone Hollywood in the worst way possible.

Ah, I didn't link to the site. Figures. :oldrazz:

It is rather true though. I don't have a TV so I don't have to be subject to it anymore, but for example, Nancy Grace? That woman makes a circus out of everything.

LOL, that CNN blurb is not true.

So, how exactly is med-school in the USA? Here in Europe we do 6 years and then you choose your....how do you call this.....em...specialty. You know, pathologist, surgeon, microbiologist, etc.
All i know is that if someone wants to study med in the USA he has to pass the most gruesome exams in history to be accepted. And then they interview you and have you examine some patients to finally accept you.

Med school here in the US is an 8 year program minimum. The WHOLE damn world starts Med. school right out of high school and starts a 6 year program. Our silly system has us doing a Bachelor's program (typically 4 years) prior to Med school. You also have to take a silly, and useless entrance exam BEFORE you can even apply to med school called the MCAT (Medical Collage Admissions test).

If you're lucky enough and get into med school right after your bachelor's program then it only takes you 8 years to become a doctor.

Now about choosing a specialty. You CAN'T choose any specialty you want, especially if you don't have the good grades. In your fourth year of med school you apply for what is called the "MATCH" program which based on your grades, standardized test scores (called the USMLE), recommendations and class rank. You can choose a specialty, but you have to apply to what you think you can get. If not then It PLACES you in a program.

For instance, in the US Dermatology is one of the hardest specializations to enter. Why? Easy life style and good money (you work from 9-5 and are pretty much never on call) and very few spots are opened every year. Most dermatologists have excellent grades in med school and have scored 90% or higher (the average last year was 92, I think) on the licensing exam. The Match computer will NOT pick the sub par applicants.

That in a nutshell is how you become a doctor in the US...fun, huh?

It's a spoof...but since you're here, may I ask you something? Do you get a kick out of posting snarky little comments on this thread? Because I can't think of any other reasons you and others like you keep doing stuff like that. We get it, this isn't a big deal do you. How about leaving those for whom this does effect in peace?
