and through various science expiraments, they were able to create the perfect demon hunter. Dante's father will probably end up being a failed expirament turned primary villain.

Yeah, they'll definitely screw this up, which is too bad. There's just enough great stuff in some of the games(mainly 1 and 3) to produce a really badass movie.

People forget, but the first game was pretty scary at times. I can easily see how it was originally going to be a Resident Evil game. The case advertised it as action horror, and if you took out Dante's controls and replaced them with a Chris or Jill or Regina, then you'd definitely have the makings of one. There was the right kind of music, demons jumping out at you, noises scraping around just off screen, the same fetch quests and puzzles, etc.

It wasn't until the sequels where they dropped the horror stuff and went for full on balls out action in a gothic setting.

The "family" plotline worked the best storywise, and the cutscenes from the third game are the amount of style and action I'd hope for and expect out of a movie. Cheesy and rediculous but totally awesome. Best villian and chemistry definitely goes to the big Lava Spider that was following you around for the first game. Between that and his brother we're good on badguys, toss in Lady and Trish(because, really, why the hell not have both of them?) and you've got yourself a movie. Complete with split ending Brother vs Brother, Girl vs Girl fight.
If you really want to sex it up with another character, have an even bigger bad that he and his brother stop fighting over for 2 seconds to defeat. Mundis(only remember because someone said it) and the bald guy and whoever the **** else in all the games were boring.

They should give him unlimited ammo and when a character asks him why he never runs out of bullets, he should turn to the camera break the fourth wall and say, "Who knows." Wink and then continue shooting at some demon.

The main thing about Dante is his hair and his red coat; it's almost iconic. To change it, you just take away 80% of his character (since, let's admit it, he's a very shallow character)

The 20% left over is a love for pizza and strawberry sundaes.

If they take cue from Devil May Cry 3, that could help establish Dante as a character and we can see how he has such a brash attitude and virtually fearless. The games themselves were so focused on action that the only thing they wanted you to know personally about Dante was the fact that he was a badass.

Actually, I think they could save Trish and Mundus for the third movie.
They really should take elements from the anime and the third game, and perhaps from the upcoming game, which we know almost nothing about.

Spend the time of the first movie to introduce Dante, his objectives, the mythos of the games (demons, Sparda, demon world, the swords...) and the little we know about his past and give him a big mission to go after his mother's killers.
Then introduce his twin brother Vergil near the end of the movie and his accomplice Arkham, talking about their plan of opening the portal to the demon world, setting up for the sequel, which could follow the events of DMC3.

This way, the second could have a bigger budget and wouldn't need to rush things up.

Well if Paul W.S. Anderson is directing it, it's hard to call it. Seeing how he sexually harassed Resident Evil boggles my mind. Something tells me that he would throw in some character that wasn't in the game. I'm imagining some chick who unknowingly has some connection to the demon world (possibly an amulet, or a pendant that she wears), Dante being a suave, badass, semi-******* has to protect her at all costs. Throughout the film, he's shown being harsh towards her, then towards the end of the film he develops feelings for her, even to the point where he's willing to sacrifice his demon powers to keep her alive.....yeah that sounds stupid enough.

Actually, I think they could save Trish and Mundus for the third movie.

I guess there are alot of possibilities. I would like to see Trish brought in to the first film especially if they go the story route with Dantes Mom. Guess it really depends on the villain they go with. Would think it would be between Vergil and Mundus for the villain and either Lady or Trish for female lead. Hope they dont create new leads like RE. Plenty of characters in the franchise.

Hollywood Is Making a Devil May Cry Movie

Continuing a "multimedia" promotional strategy that's seen such wonders as the latest Street Fighter movie, Capcom has asked Hollywood production company Screen Gems (part of Sony Pictures) to whip up a Devil May Cry feature film.

It'll be a live-action project, written by Kyle Ward, who has also penned the upcoming (and long in production hell) Kane & Lynch movie adaptation.

The news, coming today from an official Capcom announcement, confirms a report from earlier in the year.

Those hoping this will feature the old Dante, sorry. Capcom says this film will be based on the new Dante design for the upcoming series reboot/prequel, DmC.

Wow...well if that's true then I've pretty much just lost all interest...and as a massive fan (having played each game do death ever since the release of the first game), that's hard to say. Hopefully the major lack of any new media surrounding the reboot is due to them completely retooling it, or at least changing Dante's new look due to the fan outcry.
