I just thought it was ok. I wasn't really a fan of the first one, and this one left me with the same underwhelming feeling. I don't think it was a bad movie, but just couldn't get into it.

Not being a Hellboy comic fan, I judge the film on what was presented on screen and, sorry to say, what was presented wasn't very good at all.

It’s a visually bizarre movie that suffers from being in constant “cartoon mode” with absolutely no depth to either the story or the characters. Nothing on screen carried any weight and the crazed visuals just seem to run together. Everything from the first frame forward screamed “bad live action cartoon” and it was reinforced throughout the running time at every turn. It seems to me like director Guillermo Del Toro has fallen in love with his bizarre CGI creature creations and has decided to forget EVERYTHING else. This film felt like a mash of Pan’s Labyrinth and Blade 2’s extra footage with all the heart and story cut out. Unfortunately, I found myself glancing at the exit sign at my theatre more then once but I’m glad I resisted the urge to bolt. I did enjoy the final confrontation quite a bit but not enough to save this movie.

I liked it a lot more than the first one.

I'm going to see this tommorrow. The questions I have is were the theaters packed when you all saw Hellboy 2 and did it get a good audience response?

HEY! Good movie! better than the first one! great sfx. Run perlman as always such a cool guy! I m not gonna say much but the fighting scene are awsome! And I liked the new hero too! 8/10

i guess hellboy isnt for everyone :csad:

One of the year's best movies, and definately the one with the best imagination. Perlman was on Fire, we had a better villain, and most of all the action was a huge improvement. I mean HUGE.

I felt like my imagination got *****-slapped by this movie, all while being incredibly touched by it's messages and humor. Serve all of that up with a side of well thought out action sequences and you have a dish I'd like served much more often.

9/10

This movie was solid. The action scenes are amazing and cool visuals. The dialogues were ok. Doug Jones was the weakest. I am sorry but his voice acting for Abe Sapien wasn't even half as good as David Pearce's.

Those who complained last year about Doug not doing silver surfer voice should now just give up. Laurence Fishburne must have been better.

Doug Jones should stick with acting in costume but not voice acting.

I know I'm going to be in the minority on this one but I just plain didn't like Hellboy 2 and I really dug the first one. I'm too disappointed to write a full review right now, but all I can say is that very little worked for me. Here are a few points because I don't want my post to be too vague.

1. I didn't care for the story

2.The movie was too silly, the humor was quite childish to me.

3.I didn't even like Hellboy in this one, he didn't seem like the lovable jerk of the first movie, he just seemed like a jerk.

4. The movie is way too busy, there is just too much of everything.

5.The misty german character was almost as bad as JarJar Binks, everytime he came on screen I gaged.

6.Selma Blair acting is still awful in these films but she was a bit better in this one.

I liked the bad guy but the movie didn't work for me at all.

5/10 because it had cool action and looked nice. I'm terribly disappointed.

1. The Dark Knight
2. Hellboy 2: The Golden Army
3. Iron Man
4. The Incredible Hulk

I saw the movie today and it kicked my ass. I've never had that much fun in a theatre... like... EVER. The jokes were freaking hilarious and the visuals were the best I've seen in a movie. I loved the fact that they used traditional puppets and make-up as much as possible while only using cgi when it was necessary. The troll market... the troll market made me feel as if I were a kid again. Reminds me of this ninja turtle book I had when they were on na alien planet and all these different races just hung out together. It really took me back and I was in awe the whole time.

And the aftermath of the elemental battle is one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen on screen. Mix that with Elfman's score and it's pure bliss. I have to say it moved me emotionally and struck that chord within me you know? It's something you have to experience. I loved every single second of this movie and I plan on watching it everyday until The Dark Knight comes out. It'll keep me busy :)

I didnt think it was all that great. I really have mixed feelings over it. The effects and make up were top notch though. I think I have to see the movie again to really like it. It took me 2 viewings of hellboy 1 to actually like it. One thing I really hated about this movie was,
how young hellboy looked ar the start of the movie. Wow I really hated that look.
As of now, I give the movie a 5 out of 10.

Me too, never even heard of Hellboy prior to the films actually, and they're two of my favorite comic book movies...and there's no way Blade 2 (which I loved) had more heart than this.

two-thumbs up, great movie, great effects and costumes, the whole time i was i watching it i keep thinking they should have got Del Toro to do a dragon ball movie he would be able to pull off characters like piccolo or cell.

I had the SAME EXACT thought.

Except for the fact that Del Toro directs/uses good source material:o An Oscar winner won't touch that:o

**** you. :)

Just got back and I absolutely loved it. Had just as much fun as I had with Iron Man earlier this summer. I loved the first one but this one knocks it straight outta the park. It actually makes me realize how restricted the first one was.

I'd give it a solid 10/10. Oh, and I  Abe.

I know it's a spoiler thread but still beware of spoilers in this...

I loved it, but the Liz being pregnant thing with twins I didn't like. Reminded me of Shrek for some reason.

But all in all a fun movie. I loved the back story of the army being done as puppets in HB's mind. That was awesome. I can't wait to see DelToro's The Hobbit. It should be perfect.

This is how you make a comic book movie, just like Ironman and the incredible Hulk, you do it as it is in the comics and make no apologies for costumes and big fantasy stories and super powers. It's only camp if you make it that way, and I think the studios are pretty much over that whole thing of, if it's big and all that they were afraid of it being cheesy, but now the faithful and serious movies have shown you can do it right and it will be fine as long as it is done well. Same goes for Batman, it's not all big and bright but it is still faithful and very well done now.

Hellboy rocks. Sorry if I offended any fans with my comments on Liz being pregnant, I just wasn't that much into it, but it was no big deal either, I don't wanna' come off as a jerk and insult what soemone likes, it just wasn't right for me, but it's okay.

Since nobody bothered to answer my questions I guess I can assume that none of the theaters were packed and the movie didn't get a good audience response?

My theater was packed and the audience applauded.

Its a shame this came out a week before TDK, if this was the last film of the summer it would defenitly get the praise it deserves, hell even Comingsoon.net or Superherohype.com dont have a 1 to 10 rating poll, its already at TDK box office predictions

uhh so liz is pregnant in this movie did this happen in the comic and yes it does remind me of shrek, please tell me this isnt true.

Liz and Hellboy were never a couple in the comic.

The only thing I hated was the Danny Elfman score, but other than that I enjoyed it all around.

Just got back from seeing it.

I give it an 8, only things I didn't really like were
Liz being pregnant
and a sappy scene or two.

Rezzo, I agree. Well...I didn't hate it the score(I'm an Elfman fan) but it didn't really grab me like a lot of his other scores. It didn't feel or sound like Elfman really.

Overall it was a fun movie and it was great to see Perlman back in red again.
