Sure, he's portrayed as happier and slightly snappier. But i can accept that as long as the final result is as enjoyable as this movie.
I didn't accept the changing in Costantine instead, because they were unnecessary and didn't result in a better movie.

Yeah, I agree, but still I kinda felt like it was more about the BPRD than Hellboy. That's my main roft with the movie. I'll be seeing again tomorrow, so maybe I'll see it in a different light this time around.:brucebat:

Really the plot hole is non existent, as Abe probably didn't know the effects of the crown fragment and Hellboy didn't know that Nuala had it with her.
Was I the only one who felt moved at the end of fight with the Elemental?

You're not alone,I felt bad for the gigantic elemental creature as well.

Makeup: Perfect.
Acting: Could not have been better.
Score: Quintessential Elfman, gorgeous, quirky, hightening every scene, occasionally beautiful.
The scenes of Hellboy and Abe getting drunk was worth the price of admission alone.
Like everyone said, the troll market scene was better than the cantina scene. full of life and prosthetics. the "i'm a tumor" line killed.
The villain was so cool. You couldn't ask for too much more.
It's visually stunning and so much fun.

That said, I could not wrap my head around the last 3 minutes.
It was just a Joke. Nothing felt resolved or wrapped up, it just didn't feel right. Apart from feeling a lack of resolution, it ended on a weak joke. Its not just a baby...it's twins! Can't wait for Part Three! Now cue the song that was sung by Red and Abe halfway through the film to turn a touching and hilariously effective scene into a running gag. Everything up until they left Bethemoara (spellcheck) was great. Then it just fell apart.

Additionally, when Hellboy leaned up against the TV playing "Bride of Frankenstein" it was like del Toro saying "now here's a little something for all of you subtlety fans...just kidding. I'm gonna whack you over the head."
It was still cool though.

And to throw in another comment about Elfman's score, I liked that he hinted a Beltrami's original theme. Sometimes the score sounded like Men in Black and was bongo-heavy, sometimes it played up a joke like when Kraus was introduced, and sometimes it sounded like something out of a monster movie.

Also, did the plot about hellboy, abe, and liz being accepted by society ever get resolved?

Im sure abe knew the effects of the crown. Abes knows almost everything. He did what he did out of love.

What is everyones reaction over young hellboy at the start of the movie? I thought it looked horrible lol.

sorry for the double post. didnt realize i was the last one who posted lol.

I believe I read their budget is somewhere around seventy million. In that range, at least.

The NY POST review I read put HBII's budget at $75 million.

The budget for 2004's HELLBOY was approx. $66 million according to Box Office Mojo. It made $59.6 million U.S. (as well as debuting at #1 at the box office) and grossed $99 million worldwide. It wasn't a break-out hit but it made about a 50% profit. The DVD's sold well and it's aired on cable and network TV a few times, too. If memory serves, Mel Gibson's PASSION OF THE CHRIST was still in theaters when HELLBOY debuted. It was what Hollywood called a "modest hit". Granted, that wasn't enough for Columbia, hence why HBII had to switch studios.

HBII is getting solid reviews, so hopefully it can exceed the gross from it's prior movie. Again, DARK KNIGHT right now seems to be the movie of the year and the only summer blockbuster left that can hope to knock IRON MAN off it's pedestal. Which means HBII will need a solid debut, because it's tickets will probably dive 75% if not more in Week 2.

"Young Hellboy" was a bit awkward, but I liked the puppet-version of Broom's fable.

The puppet version was great. I loved the creativity of the film. The creatures and the effects were great. I just didnt think that the overall story and action was too good.

I was really moved the end of that fight was beautiful, i felt like im seeing a set of the Hobbit with all the green, and proposed a great question Freaks or Humans?

Yes they got rejected as monsters as quick as they got accepted right after the fight with the Elemental.
Just to show how fame comes and goes quickly these days.

Yeah, I liked that angle. That was part of what helped the sequel surpass the original. The comics always had a thing where creatures of myth of supernatural origins clashing with modern times, and the movie tried to capture that, too.

Plus, hey, the X-Men don't have the monopoly on misunderstood, freakish heroes. :o

Indeed.

This is the first time in i don't know how long, where I just sat there after it was over thinking "i LOVED that". It's seriously the best movie of the summer so far. Nuada was damn awesome, and is it just me, or is Nuala really hot?

To be honest I only have one complaint; the fact that they changed Abe's voice :(

Other than that it was pretty much perfect. I think I'm gonna have to see it again in a couple days.

HEY GUYS, I SAW THE MOVIE THIS AFTERNOON AND LOVED IT!!! RON AND THE REST OF THE CAST WERE ACES AND THE MOVIE FLOWED WELL 9/10!!!:hellboy::D

This film was really well done, though it wasn't the best of the summer offerings. I give it a solid 7/10. I wasn't too crazy about the Hellboy kid, I thought that could have been better done. I LOVED the prince Nuada dude. He was great. I IMDB'd him and was surrpised to see that he hadn't done anything else. I thought he was outstanding. :D Not so crazy about the gas guy in the suit, though it was funny watching him mess around with Hellboy like that in the locker room. Tee hee! :D

One of the first things I thought while jamming to "Can't Smile Without You" in the end credits was how much of a disappointment TIH was compared to this.

By the way I love that song now.

I respect your opinion too and agree with some of your friends. And what I expected was a good movie, nothing earthshattering or anything but a good movie. I had Spider-Man 3 flashbacks with this film and thats just unacceptable too me.
This movie was in no way comparable to Spider-Man 3:o

I loved it when Hellboy positioned himself near the window when Liz went firestarter and it went into slow motion and that music started playing...classic.

Seriously,WTF? :cmad:

I give the Hellboy: DC a 7/10, so people know where I start.

That said, this movie is quite different from the first. The first had more character connection, this film was more cliche but funner.

That said, it was visually beautiful to look at, and just plain fun. I'd say it is about equal with the first Hellboy (depends on what kind of mood I am in).

Thus, 7/10. I'd like to see them go more into the apocalyptc visions we have seen in the Hellboy films thus far in any potential 3rd. The series hasn't blown me away, but has been just fun.

I gave it a 7

The story lacked from the first, but creativity was way better.

I think it was entertaining but I could see it not go over well with general audience. I really want to see a third film.

Little to much focus on the romances

GREAT film! Del Toro made me a fan of Hellboy with the first film, and I had high expectations for this one, but I can happily say that it still exceeded them. This movie was a lot funner than the first, but still had a well rounded story to it. And, of course, the special effects were great eye candy. I loved the humorous bits, like the "fight" in the locker room and Abe and Hellboy having a drink. I do have to admit that I saw the nature of the villain's defeat coming from a mile away, though.

I gave it a 10/10. Mind you, I'm still a little buzzed from seeing the film, so that rating might drop a couple of points by the time it hits DVD. Even if that's the case, I'll still recognize it as one of the best films of the year. And the theater I saw it in was completely packed, which pleased me. I was afraid of Hellboy not making much due to it being released close to TDK's release date, so I hope theaters across the country will be packed like that.
