Nope. Just didn't want him. Del Toro was forced to put him in the first one by studio execs.

I thought he was good there. He was like the audience, being introduced to Hellboy and the Organaization. I thought he worked well. :)

He did but his purpose is served. Now that Hellboy is with Liz we can't have him there pathetically pining over her and Manning pretty much does his job for him so he'd really be useless here...Plus, man is he boring and generic.

Didn't help he was doing a play at the time of filming and couldn't even cameo in it.

My favorite Hellboy/JOhann moment was the Locker room scene. Biggest Laugh in the movie for me.

When he walked away singing in german was just the best.

By far the best visual effects I've seen in a film this year. A FANTASTIC job by the CG studio Double Negative. Mesmerizing stuff. 9/10

There was kind of an interesting Dungeons & Dragons feel to the fantasy environments and characters (the D&D game and novels, that is, not the crappy 2000 movie). The elf prince was kind of like the Drow elf Drizzt, and the golden army was like iron golems. Del Toro's going to give us some amazing things in The Hobbit movie.

Loved it. Just as before, Perlman played the part to a "t". Hellboy himself was hilarious, tough-as-nails, yet vulnerable. The part where he gets drunk and gets Abe tipsy too was great. His reaction to hearing "the news", both times, was golden (no pun intended). Because of this movie, Hellboy has once again moved up my list of favorite heroes.

Abe made a great sidekick in this film. I felt his role was a little bigger this time, a little more significant to the story. He was more 3-dimensional this time around. His voice sounded different (I haven't looked into it - but I'm sure its not the same actor doing the voice-over), but it still seemed to fit him and it wasn't a terribly noticable change (ie Spinter in the TMNT films).

Liz was given more screentime, and was definitely more badass this time around. Like Abe, she also seemed more 3-D. No complaints here.

I loved everything about it actually. The monsters, the new characters, the jokes, the badass main antagonist, and the Eels' "Beautiful Freak" making it into the film. It's easy to see that this film had a lot of heart put into it and was handled with care. Del Toro is a perfectionist and it shows.

I'll be honest here. This movie is a keeper. It gets a 10/10.

That's Doug Jones doing the voice of Abe this time, as he did in the HELLBOY ANIMATED films.

Then I'm guessing you didn't see "Iron Man". I thought the prosthetic work in "Hellboy 2" was far superior to the CGI.

I thought the first was a little better but it was funnier than I expected, and the fairy tale world was a nice direction to go.

I loved it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I liked it better than the first. The emotion in the scene where the Prince is trying to get Hellboy to not kill the elemental was just amazing. I was hoping that Hellboy wouldn't kill it, becuase I knew he would regret it.Plus, the humans acted like total asses after he saved them. The humor was good, and not cheesy. I loved the fairytale look, and the prince was an amazing character. The Angel of Death was out of this world. Overall, it was a superb film.:)

It makes me sad that Del Toro won't be able to do another Hellboy for at least 3 to 4 years do to his commitment to LOTR. And then it will be another year or 2 to acrually do the film, so it might be 5 or 6 years before we get another hellboy. I mean I am excited to see what he will do with the 2 new LOTR films, but I would much rather get another Hellboy.

Sort of apples and oranges, since Iron Man dealt with mostly metallic objects, while the organic fleshy CG in Hellboy 2 is more challenging. Iron Man had great CG, don't get me wrong, but the sheer number of CG shots in Hellboy2 were more impressive in presentation IMO.

Hellboy 2 had an 80 million dollar budget thats amazing too me with what i saw on screen. The Troll Market easily could have been inspired by Cantina sequence in Star Wars. With all the unusual things going on. I am only bummed out because it only opened with 35 million. I am hoping for good overseas numbers.

I am sure the DVD sales on this will help. A lot more people buy than go see in the theaters anymore. Too much money for tickets these days. :(

I saw it again last night.

Everytime I see Nuala I like her more and more :(

I really love that riff after Hellboy challenges Nuada and he comes sauntering down on the gears.

Great work on transforming Ron Pearlman into Hellboy, that is one great costume. Is Ron Pearlman built like Arnold or not -- can't tell from that film, so I assume it is real (movie magic!).

Action was great, comedy moments were great, Seth Macfarlane was great. My only comment was the ending seemed a little odd.

9/10.

Nope. The guy looks like any regular 50-something actor. Yeah, he's pretty tall but that muscle is all fake. Which is surprising because...DAMN, did they do a great job or what?

Saw it last night...loved it! I'm a big fan of the first...I've always been a GDT fan and I'm glad he was able to get the sequel made. While it was great and all I do think the critics were a little easier on HB this time around...there were quite a few unexplained plot holes but the movie is just so full of amazing visuals you almost forget about story. Its as if after Pans Labrynth critics were just gonna praise whatever del toro did next. This movie is in a class of its own...but my friend said he liked it better than Iron Man...and I don't think it was as on par...but I'm not trying to compare anything...but I didn't quite see how he could say that...though it is one of my favorites of the summer so far.
IM
HB2
TIH
Indy4

And Krauss was awesome...big laughs the whole way through.

For me it's

IM, HB
Wanted
TIH

I'm slippin' a bit with my movie watching this summer....I still gotta check out Wanted.

Those are the only ones I've seen so far, which is more than usual as I rarely go to the cinema.

I missed speed racer and narnia...despite the fact that speed bom'd i heard it was fun. And a guy I work with who loves Indy as much as I do said that Narnia was far better. So...i'm kinda bummed I missed that.

For me it's

IM, HB
Wanted
TIH

For me it's TIH, IM, HB II, & Hancock thus far. I'm sure TDK will be added to the list. It may end up being an uber good movie, but TIH shall remain my favorite. :bh:

Saw the movie today and LOVED it!...Great action, great CGI, Loved Abe and Krauss...Cant wait to find out if we will get a HB3....

my rating: 8.5/10

I know people get jummped on when they do not go with the flow..

But I thought it was.. average I guess.

The creatures were nice and well done, very well done in fact.

The acting I found to be pretty bad, especially, (sorry if I forgot thier names) that fire chick.. she was pretty bad.

The editing was not so good either.

The only real good thing (for me) was the guy who played the Elf Prince to me that guy carried this movie on his shoulders, great acting and great fights (if a double was use or not who knows same with cgi) but still every single scene this guy was in it was gold, heck even I believed in his cause and wanted him to win ;)

Seeing how they did the creatures and the Elf prince and how he fights makes me want someone to make a certin movie involving a certin Drow Elf.

I know a dark elf trilogy is just begging to be put on the big screen. Drizzt is such a badass character.
