I enjoyed this and saw it last night. It was good. I enjoyed the visuals and the story was pretty good. I'm not a big HB fan, but I thought it was better then the first one.

I wasn't overly excited about seeing this, because the first movie didn't really overwhelm me (though I did like it). But, its a comic book movie, so I had to give it my money.

And...again I wasn't overwhelmed. I wasn't underwhelmed either. I'd say i just plain old whelmed...

I think I just dont give a damn about the characters. I dont really like the comic, and I thought the jokes were funnier in the first movie.

I didnt think it was all that great. I really have mixed feelings over it. The effects and make up were top notch though. I think I have to see the movie again to really like it. It took me 2 viewings of hellboy 1 to actually like it. One thing I really hated about this movie was,

how young hellboy looked ar the start of the movie. Wow I really hated that look.

As of now, I give the movie a 5 out of 10.

It's actually a female portraying a young hellboy. i agree that it came off as a cardboard character but seeing a story through his imagination was unique. I thought it was an overall enjoyable film with amazing visuals and imagination .

I had no problem with the look of young Hellboy. It beat what I expected (which was pretty much a kid painted red. I didn't think they'd throw in the ears, brows, eyes, and teeth to match.). I only took issue with the portrayal. Man did that kid exaggerate every movement and expression.

I think she applied her own make-up on herself.

...Chrrrist. I really thought that was a kid. She did a damn good job with both the make up and acting...She exaggerated the movements a little, yeah, lol, but she still fooled the hell out of me. I'd almost believe it was a puppet quicker than I would believe it was her.

I did think it was a puppet just because you're not allowed to put heavy make up on children (thats why Leach looks normal in X3).

1 The Locker Scene where Hellboy Gets his ass kicked by JOhann.

2 The Lucy I am Hope Part was great . I also liked he was suffering for she was gonna eat a cat.

3 The Troll Market stuff was great. It was like the Cantina scene for me.

I haven't seen the film but I don't trust anything that tries to be very ambitious but costs only 85 million to make. It's hard for me to believe the film matches fx heavy trailers.

Did anyone else catch Ian Punnit's clumsy dismissal of HELLBOY II on ABC Radio's "Coast To Coast" last night? The guy couldn't understand why they headed to Ireland, for crying out loud.
(Jeez, my 7 year old looked up at me when the location was revealed and said, "That's where the Golden Army is!")

It's interesting how some people just don't get it at all.
This movie may have its flaws, but it doesn't deserve to be panned like it's the "The Happening" or something.

I can't help but admire a lot of what Del Toro and co. tried to do with this film. They may not have hit the ball out of the park, but it was certainly a respectable, entertaining (and elegant) effort.
We need more quirky genre films like this one that don't conform to the same old superhero formula.
