As none of you know, I'm set to graduate from college in December.

Now, in preparation for this major transition, I went to see my degree advisor to make sure all of my credit hours were in order and that I had met all degree requirements.

But come to find out: I'm mysteriously missing three credit hours.

So the advisor hands me a list of classes that can fulfill those credit hours. But the list is 50+ courses long.

I'm already taking five classes next semester, and a lot of my top choices were either filled or conflicted with my other classes. So fitting another course into that schedule is proving to be difficult.

And this, dear Hypester, is where you come in. I'm going to turn the decision over to you.

That's right. You're going to pick my final college class.

So based on the courses I'm already registered for, here are your three choices:

  • Western Civilization I - A survey of western civilization from ancient to 1648
  • Moses, Jesus, and Muhammad - Deals with the main themes of Judaism, Christianity, and Islam as found in the teachings of Moses, Jesus, and Muhammad.
  • Critical Writing - Writing reviews of movies, plays, television programs, concerts, books, and other cultural works.

The poll will be up for a week. I will print out a copy of the schedule to confirm the winner. Oh, and let me make something perfectly clear. I already know which class I want to take and which class I don't want to take. But I'm putting the power in your delicate hands.

So don't **** up my life too much.

Love,
Cmill

Well for me, one or two would be what I would choose....but for you, I say Critical Writing.

I'd reccomend Western Civ, but its really all up to you Cmill and what you want to do.

Critical Writing.

I took Creative writing when i was in college. Loved it. And if you're writing about movies and the like, that's cool too.

Good luck!

Easy...Critical Writing.

Critical Writing for the win Alex.

I really enjoyed Western Civ when I took it. That being said, critical writing was fun as well.

Western Civilization, it will give you material and knowledge for scripts.

I think Critical Writing will really benefit you. Why? Well, when you critique someone else's work, you'll fine-tune your opinion of what works and what doesn't and, in turn, will strengthen your own pieces - it'll refine your style.

My choice would be Critical Writing, as it is the best choice out of the three. I actually took a Critical Writing course a couple of years back, it was a great experience which helped in observing my own weaknesses in writing and how to better myself in those areas.

Underwater Basketweaving.

I mean, Critical Writing.

Critical Writing. I like history, but those time periods (ancient to 1648) I find terribly dull. All the good stuff starts happening 200 years after. I despised the two classes I had to take on religion. I would never take one again by choice.

CMill, are you a pretty good writer?

Tricky. Critical writing sounds interesting but Western History just sounds so fasinating! I would choose the latter.

I took Western Civilization I (different name but same class). It is a fun class. But, I love history. I think, given you're on this site, you might enjoy critical writing most. Plus, you've done Fan Fics on here, write? Do the writer thing!

Critical writing is a definite pick for me.

Western civ would be the runner up

I'd take something you have little to no knowledge about.

Then I think Critical Writing as well.

Critical writing could be beneficial beyond just writing. It could teach you how to break things down and evaluate them. If you've already taken a critical thinking course, then taking critical writing gives you another chance to use your evaluation skills. Those could help you out big time in the long run. No matter what you do after school, being able to evaluate situations is going to be beneficial. The writing part is a big piece of the class, but the most important thing is getting your brain to critically break down things. The fun thing is that you'll probably get to write some cool stories while you're doing this. It's a win/win.

Western Civ sounds fun, but to be hoenst you could probably learn that on your own if you really want to. History is easy to research. You can learn all about Western Civilization on your own within a span of two or three weeks if you really want to.

The Jesus, Moses, and Muhammad class sounds like it could give you insight on the Abrahamic religions, and that's good if you are really interested in that. It won't help you with much outside of school though unless you plan on working in a field to where that knowledge would be beneficial.

CMill, you're just finishing up uni? I thought you were older for some reason.

Take Critical Writing! Then you can review films online on a web--oh, nevermind :(
