I like the idea. Very dramatic and it would mirror (Raimi likes that) the final moments from the previous 2 movies in a way. Both ended with a Peter/MJ scene with Spider-Man doing his trademark final swing right after.Kevin Roegele said:EVerything is all sweetness and light, and at Harry's funeral, Peter proposes to MJ - and she turns him down and walks away, like Peter does to her in the first movie. Thus MJ may or may not appear in Spidey 4, and they can easily pull in Gwen instead.
Actually I don't think this will happen but I do believe it would be cool.

DACrowe said:First, what do studio heads know? Well about the intricate and overycomplicated histories of the comics? Probably very little, but the tone of their $300 million tentpole and most costly Hollywood film ever produced under their watch....probably a GREAT DEAL. Sam may have ideas but all his ideas have to pass a committee that may modify, subtract or add to it and will have ideas of their own (the price you pay to get that $200 million+ budget).
The committee must be satisfied. And in a movie where the studio has said they want all loose ends tied up, in case this cast does not return for four and they don't have to continued a cliffhanger with a different cast, you bet your as there will be some closure compartively to this film and given that its the summer tentpole for Sony that needs some finality, expect the ending to be happy.
Besides, the last two were fairly upbeat endings (well 2 more than 1) and 3 has to close those movies out. There is a definate set-up for a wedding ("I always imagined you getting married ontop of a hill").
If that makes this a "chick flick" you obviously must have hated the first two movies and let's not even mention the comics which played like a soap opera with spandex and superpowers (and last I checked Peter is "happily" married to MJ in the comics).
We'll see though.

we do not know that for sure though. i want him to return and many other people want him too to.Adam West said:But Tobey probably won't be back for 4 either. So they could easily repalce Kirsten if they replace Tobey

He has a kid to raise, he doesn't want to be away filming movies. It seems that he has a really good relationship with his fiancee and he probably doesn't want to F that up like so many other Hollywood couples do these days.
If he comes back, great. If not, they can find somebody else to wear the red and blue. Same goes for MJ, JJ, Gwen, Sandman, Eddie, and any other character in the Spidey movies.
If Sony wants to make these movies, they WILL be made regardless of who is starring in them or who is directing them.
this movie will be a dark movie. it will probably be at the end of the movie if they get married because they can not get married when peter has the symbiote and it has to be a happy wedding but not a happy ending. it should be like the other movies. make it look like there will be more which there will probably be.DACrowe said:If there is a wedding (at the very least I expect an engagment) it will be done in a very bittersweet way for an ending.
This is a dark movie but it does start off light and the whole thing is about the bittersweet theme of forgivness. Peter has to forgive Flint guilty or not (as Harry does Peter) and Venom has no conscience in him or sense of forgivness in him and thus his end is inevitable as a self-destructive force.
But anyway, the movie is about Peter finding that and being able to stick it out with MJ. The movie is going to be dark but want to end on being hopeful. This movie will not end on a complete downer note. I'm not sure there is even a Spider-Man story in the comics that ends on a complete downer (even the death of Gwen Stacy has Peter find help in MJ who stays with Peter promising a better future down the road) save for perhaps the origin.
I doubt the movie will end completely depressing. Outside of Batman Returns I don't think any superhero movie ever has anyway, and I doubt Sony wants to follow twhat was the least lucrative Batman movie save for B&R then.
the ending will probably not be that happy. this is a dark movie. the ending should not be dark but also should not be too happy. the moral of spidey3 is revenge. peters best friend dies so i do not think the ending should have huge smiles but just let it be a little happy.DACrowe said:I'm talking about the ending though.
agreed. i am very sure that the movie will end with a swinging sequence. we will have to wait and see what the ending will be likeDACrowe said:Actually the moral of Spider-Man 3 is forgivness. Not vengence.
And again this movie may end bittersweetly (like the first movie) but it will end hopefully and on a high note with a swinging sequence. If you expect a hugely depressing ending in a summer tent pole that is a conclusion to two of the most feel-good summer action blockbusters of the decade....you're in for disappointment yourself is all I'm saying.

i think that if they do not get married in spidey3 then they remai boy friend and girl friend until they do get married. then they would get married in a sequel.NewYorkSpider said:Peter will tell MJ that they can only be friends, because she is always getting kidnapped and the villians always find out who she is.
