Heroes Reborn General Discussion

They could always reveal he isn't Kring made a big mistake when he did that I know not everyone likes Olicity but looks who's show got canceled and looks who's show still on the air. :yay:
Heroes was still what I prefer and I'll take that over Arrow.

God bless you! God bless everyone!

The Larter stuff is bad, no doubt. But that little bit with Kring is just so much more damning.
Yeah, I'm curious if we'll hear anything from Sendhil Ramamurthy. While he wasn't fired like Leonard, I always got the impression while watching the show that his character was getting similarly screwed over compared to the White Faves.

Also, here's a good point about Larter:

It’s a good point, but I can’t help but roll my eyes at the “this just affirms my decision not to watch back in the day!” bit.

Not every behind-the-scenes dust up comes down to how you personally felt about a project, you nerds. :o

Nah, its a ****ty point. She got near naked for one part, thus is she should be okay with all scenes of that nature? Now, that does not fully absolve Larter of her behavior, as it was pretty clear her discomfort was a racial one. And she was a diva about making her demands.

Given how his character was described is on the casting breakdown you can tell they had few people of color behind the camera side.

It's funny that after Heroes Sendhil Ramamurthy has gone on to play Supervillains in two over Superhero shows, Stan Lee's Lucky Man and The Flash.

I mean, he pretty much played a supervillain on Heroes, so that makes sense. :p

Im surprised that they even gave her that much of a pull, Kring should also feel ashamed of how he let the situation go on and easily gave in to it. But just another example of the never ending black actors being treated like nobodies.

He had one dark (weird) turn where he was capturing people in a web or something, but generally he was one of the good ones.

Unless I'm misremembering, he joined up with Peter Petrelli during his "I am basically a terrorist supervillain" stage, so that's at least two periods. Plus, his faux-philosophic monologues in season 1 totally read as supervillain speak, in retrospect.

( Yes, this is largely a side effect of the show having increasingly awful writing. Its still the show and characters we had. )

Yeah often when actors land their first big role, they’re much more willing to disrobe or do other things that they might not once they gain some clout. But in Larter’s case and this role specifically, it does seem that her discomfort was motivated by racism, especially given the other example that Leonard gave, and because if I remember correctly, the introduction to Larter’s character was her doing a strip tease for a webcam show. Clearly (right or wrong) it was expected of her character to be in various states of undress and it sounds like the only time she had a problem with it was when she had scenes with Leonard.

I cant remember but did she have any similar scenes after the initial scene that is now being talked about?

Do you mean the scene with Nathan? I want to say no. There was a scene with her in lingerie with a guy in Season 3, but it wasn't as sexualized as that.

This is the one I mean:

Granted, Ali's done other things outside of Heroes. But I'm thinking now maybe you mean the Varsity Blues scene? If she's done anything equivalent to that, I don't know about it.

Personally, while it may be racially motivated, I'm a little hesitant to assume it's that because Leonard said they had some sort of conflict before the "naked" scene and that he didn't think it was a big deal...but we don't even know anything about that conflict. This is why they do investigations into these things (not that I think this is going to be investigated).

A scene where she has to appear "naked"

She already made herself look guilty enough by refusing to comment when they were writing up the story and then coming out afterwards to do the usual "Im so sorry you felt that way" statement on her personal social media.
