Heroes Reborn General Discussion

I'll say this, I hope Parkman or Peter is the big bad rather than Erica. Erica has felt so underwhelming.

Well to me Erica reminds me of Angela let's not forget Peter's father/Parkman's father was partners in S3, maybe Peter/Parkman is doing the same, and really I think if Milo filmed a cameo and their keeping it under wraps I think that cameo would be 10x better than what we been getting in Reborn. :yay:

Episode 9 just screened down here. Man, I'm really enjoying this show.

I think it's managed to go right everywhere the original went wrong - even series 1, which was arguably the best.

I like Parkman as a bad guy, I always felt he was a guy who had a moral compass that could be shifted.

Wouldn't it be great for a surprise cameo from Peter or Sylar ? Probably won't /can't happen, but wouldn't it be great.

Yeah, I know some folks find the Katana girl thing weird - but I liked the reversal (not girl who enters the game, but game girl that enters the world).

My only beef was Nathan letting Killer chick live, after she shot Caspar in cold blood. She's crazy and I'm sure she's going to turn up and screw up stuff for
our heroes at a crucial moment - so I'm sure from a plot standpoint she has to survive, but as an audience member I want to see her get some well
deserved karmic payback.

Great show, big ups to Tim Kring !

The past episodes was great. But there are however some major plot holes.

1. When we first met Tommy/Nathan, he had his teleport ability. But when Hiro and Noah travels back in time it is explained that Nathan has absorbed Hiros ability. How is it possible that he had his ability in the original timeline before Hiro and Noah went back in time? This could be explained if we imagine that the time travel always was a part of the original timeline, but then again Hiro wouldn't be "young" when he was released from Evernow. Any thoughts/theories on this?

2. When Hiro took the twins further back in time, he stayed behind and raised Nathan, this was from 1999-2014, meaning he was there raising Nathan and didn't have his powers during the events in the original series. This would completely ***** up there original series timeline where Hiro was a central character and saved the world multiple times. Yes, this could be explained by saying there's two Hiros (which there probably is) but he went back in time before he got his powers, and lost them. Would the past/original Hiro even get his powers?

Key word present-Hiro not past-Hiro its like in BTTF when 1985-Doc was sent to 1885 while nothing happened to 1955-Doc now if it was past-Hiro then it would be different. :yay:

Of course, didn't think of it like that, but that makes sense! :)

Yup, I'm sure we could work something out, but really I wouldn't sweat it if I were you bro. The Flash tv show is awesome, but has totally messed up time travel - few writers can actually get it right. It's like as soon as time travel gets involved plot holes abound.

Anyway, I'm loving the show ( plot holes and all) anyway. It's when the plot holes get so huge that the whole show gets swallowed by them, then it's a problem. Just IMO. Peace ! :)

I think the bit where they connect Farah and Carlos was really interesting, but Carlos' entire storyline just seems so extraneous. Like, Micah is there? What the hell does this show need Micah for other than for nostalgia? I'm alright with Parkman's Guilty Remnant imitation but Carlos' storyline is a drag. They brought in Erica's daughter to make it somewhat connected?

The way for this show to properly connect such separate and distinct storylines is to unify them with a theme or a common goal. Kinda like how Game of Thrones would do it when it's on top of things. A lot of storylines just kinda move pieces around but it seems to be done in such a roundabout manner.

Erica butchering that deer was probably taken from Tywin's introduction in Game of Thrones as well.

The time traveling was mind-boggling stupid. Cool, but stupid. They also killed off Casper. GG. He was cool in his dorky way. I also get that they wanna play up HRG and Quentin but I'm just not feeling their connection and really don't like time travel kinda retcons stuff...

At least the Haitian is still alive.

Yeah, I kind of find Carlos' storyline unnecessary - if it was essential to the main storyline he should have crossed paths with the other characters by now. Although it was an excuse to show off evil Parkman and that I liked. I think he's better as a villain than he ever was as a "hero" in previous seasons.

Sad to see Casper die, he was a terribly underused character who had a lot of potential.

As for Erica's daughter, she's the one character I really find annoying - and her storyline is far less believable and engaging than everyone else's - although maybe it's just that she's a bad actress (in comparison Judi Shekoni does an amazing job as a crazed serial killer - can't wait for her to get what's coming to her).

Still, really enjoying the show overall - and looking forward to the big finale !

I find basically everything they've done with Micah aggravating to the point of enraging. From being ground zero for the absolute unbelievable idiocy of their portrayal of superhuman economics, to their incredibly offensive choice of name for his own movement, its like they took one of the characters I liked, and went out of their way to make me hate the show.

I came to realize this show is basically just "we need to find *insert character name here*" repeated over and over again.

wasn't that basically what the original show was too?

I can barely even remember what happened in the original show. Even when Heroes was enjoyable on its original run it was hardly the most memorable show.

Yeah, they were very much about destiny and a messiah " save the cheerleader, save the world" sort of thing - although at least the current iteration of the show has much tighter plotlines and actually is about saving the world.
I think the problem with Heroes, season 1 (because subsequent seasons were just a mess) was that they were trying to work out what the show was about while as they went along - so the final product was good, but not great.

The original (the first season) was good, but suffered from the same problems that LOST, did - too many characters, too many storylines that went nowhere (until the writers started tidying it all up around season 4, but by then the resolutions they wrote weren't all that satisfying), and of course time-travel.

Nobody seems to be able to get time-travel right (which is a bit much for me to say, as nobody really knows how travelling through time and changing the past would work out in reality) but at least having a consistent approach to time travel would be good - I don't care if it doesn't really make sense.

I mean, I love the Flash tv show, but they've absolutely buggered up time-travel and its consequences.

Well the show wasn't much it isn't like The Flash as for the rules of time-travel I always go by Back to the Future rules of time-travel. :yay:

If Hiro was nerdy Hiro when he was put in the trap, and was cool future Hiro when he came out, and then permanently lost his powers a little bit later, that means he was only cool future Hiro in total for a couple of episodes. So when did all that happen in the first series when cool future Hiro was going back in time to warn everyone about saving the cheerleader and stuff?

In a future that no longer will happen.

fair enough
tho, I was very much into the show at the time, during its original airing... I will saying, it did not play well in re-runs

tried to re-watch some of the old show before the new one started, an it was just not the same

the show was all about building up suspense, an always leaving it on a cliffhanger, week to week... not the type of show you can really binge-watch (cause that suspense and thrill just wasn't there, anyway)

To me there has been only one show that pulled it off Dragon Ball Z :yay:

I've been enjoying myself. Not too crazy about the zany powers, like the digitizing things and people powers from that Japanese guy who lost his daughter and Frankestein'ed Katana Girl into the likeness of his decease daughter. It's not killing me, but it's a bizarre power.

Also, lygopath (shadow girl) can dampen powers? Ok. Fine. The Haitian is alive again. Wonder who'd win that fight of negation?

The shows been fun. That's all I wanted. I didn't need a mind trip or anything. An alt-timelines already exist. Remember that girl that Peter Petrelli left in an alt-timeline. They NEVER remedied that story-arc. Haha! Season 2 and 3 were a wreck of the original show. Season 4 pulled it's pants up thanks to Bryan Fuller, and it ended with some dignity. But it's one of those worlds that still has potential.

I'd like some Sylar, but I don't want Sylar. I'd want some Peter Petrelli, but I don't. I wanna see what the twins can do. With the help of the other characters. The latino guy is my least story. Hopefully it hurries and merges and becomes something of significance.

It depends on how much Milo wants to rehash 10 years ago. I don't think he's interested in going back. Though it would really boost the show if he does make a cameo. He had such an amazing back story.

Well while he moved on from Heroes he said if he can he would like to be part of the GG on Netflix, I guess he liked playing Jess more than playing Peter he said he didn't like when Nathan died, and he thought in the end Peter should have killed Sylar for it. :yay: Plus he said he didn't like the crazy twists the show had so yeah he moved on. :yay:

What happened to this? I've really been missing it. It was just getting really good too.

I'm enjoying this series. I only don't like the latino guy's story. Hopefully it fuses soon and feels relevant. I love seeing the old characters come back. Parkman as a bad guy. Didn't see that coming. Odd.

I feel... I'd love to see Peter Petrelli and of course Sylar, but maybe too soon. Let's let these new characters have their fun.

How do you mean? It's on hiatus, if that's what you mean. Comes back January 7th, 8PM EST/9PM Central.

Yea, that's what I meant. It's been off the air for a while. Seems weird to go on hiatus with like 3 episodes left.

Last three start this Thursday. Really looking forward to see how they end it.
