Pine's a great choice for this role. Much better than that Eastwood kid, imo.
I was going to give Eastwood a chance but I completely agree with you. I feel more comfortable with Pine in the role.

So Pine is going to shoot Trek 3 this summer and then do Wonder Woman...if he for sure signs on of course.

Let the manips begin.

Chris Pine is a solid choice for Steve Trevor. The character needs an actor of his caliber. I hope it will be a well-written part.

But we lost out on Hal Jordan then.

EDIT: Why doesn't Pine want to be a superhero?

The responses to this news on Twitter has actually been fairly positive. I am shocked considering it's WB/DCE. :o

I am too honestly.

As I said on twitter, I don't know what to do with myself because I don't really have to defend the choice. I'm scared guys.

To think a while back, I was fully ready to defend Scott Eastwood. Chris Pine makes WAY too much sense. I'm getting kinda scared too now. :(

So do you guys and gals think that it was a better idea to go with a more well known actor like Pine than an Eastwood type?

I always had a feeling Steve Trevor would be a name. I was behind the idea of Eastwood as Trevor, but that ship has sailed. Admittedly, I do love this possible choice more so yes.

Now that you mention it, DC casting Chris Pine the same day that Marvel makes an out of the box casting choice with Tilda Swinton. This feels wrong.

The Eastwood rumor only surprised me a little because I figured WW would be cast like Man of Steel was. You know with the love interest being the bigger name than the lead. I wasn't against a lesser known actor though.

IKR? :loco: Who knows who WB might pick for GL. They could race-bend Hal Jordan and give him Kyle Rayner's characteristics........Which I wouldn't have any problem with. :o

Well Pine is the more well known actor, but the Eastwood name carries some weight behind it, even though it's mostly due to his dad.

Anyone know how tall Pine is compared to Gadot?

At this pointI am impatient. I want confirmation that Pine has taken the part, and I want to start hearing about other names in the cast, especially Hippolyta ( Which really HAS to be in that Anthony Hopkins type role ) and the villain ( which HAS to be a compelling name in her/his own right). I do not envy Jenkins and her team's position right now.

Oh dude I am impatient as well, I won't be totally happy until Wonder Woman starts filming to be honest.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that Pine's Star Trek commitments don't get in the way of him taking the role. I do not want another Tom Hardy situation.

Pine works because you need a guy that gives off a heroic vibe yet would still be totally believable as an occasional damsel in distress that gets in over his head and needs help. It's a fine line.
Couldn't have said it better myself :)

What other known actors would have suited Steve just as good? Gyllenhaal? Hunnam?

I think too many guys in the game right now are almost too perfect, where they give off this essence of "I have all the skills, I get all the womens, I'm tortured but I still know how to fight off fifty guys and come out unscathed." Pine has always given me the Harrison Ford vibe almost.

well i guess if it works on the screen tests then ok. i just dont want the movie to turn into a Chris Pine vehicle featuring Wonder Woman if you know what i mean?

and my sympathies to those Pine-ing for Hal Jordan (geddit? :P) but then again i always had this feeling theyre gonna go with John Stewart for the big screen GL reboot anyway

Pine was on my wish list for Trevor from day one. But I didn't think he'd do it. Happy that he seems keen on this role. So, I most def 100% approve. :yay:

Why would one worry about this turning into a Chris Pine vehicle? Why do people make up reasons to be worried?

Hopkins as Hippolyta? Interesting choice. :o

Human nature.

And regarding Pine's Star Trek commitment, I'm thinking that since WW doesnt hit until 2017, the WW team has the luxury of delaying filming a month or so to accommodate Pine. Of course that depends on when Gal must report to work for JL.
