I've never been a fan of Chris Pine, I usually get him confused with Evans, Pratt, and Chris Pike (and he's just a Star Trek character). I was never in love with his James Kirk but I feel he was much more likable as Steve Trevor and more heroic.
His death in WW was more impactful than his death in ITD
Edit
Just saw his SNL monologue, I never knew that all 3 of them looked alike! I just wanted one of them to change their first name.
Pine is actually a pretty good actor and a very sarcastic guy off camera, but I think fanboys never really caught on due to him being another of the "white guy cast in action adventure flicks" that Hollywood has a dime a dozen of.
They let Steve and Diana be intimate with each other. Maybe I'm just so used to many writers in the comics be terrified of the notion of WW having sex that it was a nice change of pace.
I'm not, because the writers knew they were going to
kill Steve off
so it would have been even more tragic if Diana and Steve never got to be together and express their new love for each other before Steve's sacrifice.
I love Chris Pine as an actor, and I know some might feel he is too good to be wasted on a one and done role like this, but would the character have grabbed people like it did if a mediocre actor had played the part? I think he was absolutely perfect for this, and Steve and Diana are now one of my favorite Superhero pairings thanks to him.
But as much as I like him, I personally DON'T want him to come fully back, I actually LIKE the tragic romantic nature of his and Diana's love story in the film. Much more then Capt and Peggy's romance which didn't touch me half as much as Steve and Diana's story in this film.
I think Chris could appear as Steve for things like flashbacks and stuff but I think it best to keep him
dead
I think the next Wonder Woman film should focus on Diana coming to terms and healing from her grief over losing Steve, make that part of her character arch and it could help bridge the gap between the first Wonder Woman film and BVS nicely.
