He's The Secret Weapon... David Ayer IS the Director and Script Writer

Hopefully KG Beast will be on the table, An Ayer like film would benefit

Rourke would be awesome. Especially for someone actor orientated like David Ayer.

Have you seen how Rourke looks now ? i couldn't even recognize him.

just came back from watching Fury and it further solidified why Ayer will make an awesome Suicide Squad movie. i think the movie will be in good hands

I would have thought Training Day and End of Watch would have already proved that. Heck even Sabotage (which I personally enjoyed but is generally considered to be his weakest film overall) shows that he's got the right tone/aesthetic to make a Suicide Squad movie.

Will Smith as Black Manta would be a nice change of pace for him as he's normally known for playing the "good guy."

I've got a feeling that Smith is playing a race changed Rick Flagg. Aside from the fact the he WILL get first billing on this I can't see Will, ego and all, playing a character who isn't the leader of the team.

Can Will's ego deal with being part of ensemble cast though? The man is really good when he turns up for a film.

Just saw Fury. If we get THAT David Ayer as opposed to Sabotage David Ayer, I think we're in really good hands. I can't wait.

Man now I really wanna check out Fury. One more week.

And I don't think Will Smith is gonna wanna wear a Black Manta Helmet all the time. Not even while walking on the bottom of the ocean. Not unless it gets some kind of Iron Man HUD view, which would be hilarious.

I really think Will Smith, if cast, is going to be the lead character, whether that is Deadshot, Black Manta or whatever the character is going to be it will be Smith Playing that character. Will Smith has reputation of not playing second fiddle and I don't see that changing anytime soon. It would be a nice surprise if he does but I just don't think it is likely. He dropped out of Django because his character wasn't the one to kill Leo's character. Also if he is indeed the lead than it mean DC would beat Marvel with having a black lead in a comic book superhero film. No way Black Panther comes out by 2016.

I wonder if the fact that Will Smith's wife Jada Pinkett-Smith currently being on a DC tv show is WB's trump card to get Will to sign on.

I was thinking, we are limiting are selves in guessing who Will might be up for due to his skin color. Black Manta, Black Spider, Bronze Tiger etc. What if he is a character that is white in the comics? I'm thinking Col. Rick Flag Jr? This way he wouldn't exactly be a villain, and could be Waller's inside man.

What if Smith plays a rule 63 of the Wall?

Adam Waller... Called it first! :o

Yeah that's why Id rather have somebody else play Manta, someone who's not as big of a star as Will Smith.

With Ayer directing, this has the potential to be the best of DC's films, just let him do what he wants to do. Make it rated R. These guys are brutal killers, we cant PG13 this thing. WB Hiring Ayer gives me hope.

If that's the case, he will probably negotiate for Jaden to get a role too. Kaldur or Static I'd guess..

Kaldur would make sense if Smith was Manta. To be honest, I could see it. the first Aquaman movie could focus on Kaldur, Mera, The Trench, and Manta. The sequel could be a Throne of Atlantis storyline.

Maybe it's Will Smith as Deadshot and Tom Hardy as Deathstroke, with Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn

However it plays out, I want the Squad itself to be made up of truly terrible people. None of this anti-hero stuff... These people are straight up scumbags that Flagg and Waller keep in line just barely. They are contract killers, psychos and career criminals. It's just that as a team they are aimed at some particular threat that at the moment is worse than they are.

Except that Deadshot and Deathstroke haven't been played that way in a LONG time. Heck even Harley is often given sympathetic qualities and the New 52 Killer Frost is a sympathetic character in general.

I don't know about that. Is Deathstroke still a contract killer? Yep. Is Lawton still also a killer for hire? Yep. Are both cool characters? Yeah. I love both. But neither is really suited to some kind of anti-hero role. They are straight up killers. Quinn is the fangirl of somebody that is a mass killer himself, who beat a teenager to (what was assumed at the time to be) death. These are BAD, BAD, people, and that's the sort of thing that can truly distinguish this project from any other "rag tag band of misfits" CBM property. Deadshot, Slade, Quinn... underneath it all these aren't sentimentalists with gruff exteriors and honorable hearts of gold. These people are the predators that super heroes keep the public safe from.

I'm actually starting to think maybe Smith will be Deathstroke. That would be pretty huge, and certainly a top-billing, lead character. I haven't read any nu52 SS but I really think the movie line-up will be pretty close to it and I think Deathstroke is at least the field leader, no?
