He's The Secret Weapon... David Ayer IS the Director and Script Writer

I need to see End of Watch, but I saw both Fury and Sabotage in theaters last year. Ironically, the two films were on the exact opposite sides of the quality spectrum for me. I absolutely loved Fury, but Sabotage was actually my most hated film of 2014. Drove me nuts watching it.

Thankfully, it looks like Suicide Squad will be more along the lines of Fury in terms of quality.

So Grace Randolph made what I think is a good point about comedic touches. She thought it was pretty weak and I kind of agree. Harley and Joker is bit too grounded. I find Ledger's Joker to be more wacky so far. Comedy isn't really Ayer's forte and he's writing and directing.

There were like five f***ing lines of dialogue! What the f*** is she b****ing for?

I think there was a lot of strange quirkiness for a first trailer. Harley looked suitably strange and, not quite right in the head, and let's remember that Joker was only really seen at the end this was likely a moment of deep tension and possibly horror in the film. No offense but Ledger's Joker wasn't quirky or humorous in his first trailer appearance.

You know, if nothing else, this movie has Harley and the Joker meeting Will Smith. the sheer awesomeness of that should get a lot of people to see it. this critic is nuts.:loco:

Ayer is straight up hood like. For a minute there I thought i was witnessing some eastcoast v west coast type deal. Lawd. I was about to get my bat.

There seems to be a long string of scenes involving the Squad walking and moving about the city possibly. It's giving me vibes of The Warriors.

With a title "Suicide Squad" and psychos for main characters, why exactly are people expecting a GOTG movie ?

I'm starting to think this movie needed another writer involved if only for Joker and Harley because with those character you really have to brainstorm and think outside the box. Things like what kind of tattoos Joker would have or what kind zany moments should Harley have requires a different kind of creativity that might not be in Ayer's wheelhouse. From the trailer, think it does lack quirkiness when it comes to Joker, Harley, and even Enchantress.
Enchantress isn't the type that I would call quirky. If I would compare her to anyone from Marvel then it would be the Hulk. Only instead of super strength and invulnerability, she has sorcery.

When they cast Cara Delevingne who's known for quirkiness, it's kind of a waste to not use that as part of her split personalities.

What's wrong with branching out? The character is reasonably dark, and this movie seems to be capitalizing on that. Nothing out of the ordinary here.

I'd say that it's because of Cara's quirkiness that people thought she would be playing Harley.

That would be branching out in my eyes because it's more creative. So far she looks like generic horror. Maybe she will have a crazier personality that compensates her underwhelming look.

Yeah, I was one of them before learning Margot was attached to the film. I just hope we see Harley and Joker be more goofy and nutty because right now I'm only getting that they're psychotic and deranged. I need the nutty factor that makes them fun to watch. The way that Charles Manson is fun to watch.

She doesn't have the acting experience to be type cast. It's about playing to their strengths.

You can have a ton of experience and be type cast or you can have no experience and be type cast. Being type cast is not simply being cast for the same role multiple times.

How do you have no experience and be type cast? lol
