He's The Secret Weapon... David Ayer IS the Director and Script Writer

I'm going to paraphrase Joss Whedon on why casting a "quirky" actor like Cara may be a brilliant move for drama: energetic and funny people can make great dramatic actors since they're generally masters of timing a already excell at emoting.

And the brief little glimpses we've seen of Cara as Moon seem to show her doing a lot of facial acting and emoting, while Enchantress looks creepy as hell, but in a way where you can kind of see Cara's using her model's stare as a force for evil.

I could be wrong, mind you, but it looks like Ayer wants a character the audience can understand by the looks on their face, and that might be right up her alley.

Maybe look up the definition.

First thing that shows up on Google.

verb: type-cast; past tense: type-cast; past participle: type-cast
assign (an actor or actress) repeatedly to the same type of role, as a result of the appropriateness of their appearance or previous success in such roles.

See how past experience is implied? You're unequivocally wrong. Maybe accept the definition.

So Grace Randolph made what I think is a good point about comedic touches. She thought it was pretty weak and I kind of agree. Harley and Joker is bit too grounded. I find Ledger's Joker to be more wacky so far. Comedy isn't really Ayer's forte and he's writing and directing.

I'm starting to think this movie needed another writer involved if only for Joker and Harley because with those character you really have to brainstorm and think outside the box. Things like what kind of tattoos Joker would have or what kind zany moments should Harley have requires a different kind of creativity that might not be in Ayer's wheelhouse. From the trailer, think it does lack quirkiness when it comes to Joker, Harley, and even Enchantress.

wat

I hope we see Harley and Joker be more goofy and nutty because right now I'm only getting that they're psychotic and deranged. I need the nutty factor that makes them fun to watch. The way that Charles Manson is fun to watch because he's so weird. More quirkiness.

You're going off of a teaser trailer that wasn't even meant to be seen by the general public. I'm sure the movie will be brimming with the same kind of dark humor found in TDK's Joker.

Well duh, we all are because that's what was shown. I said what I hope to see... thought I made that clear.

Because nothing ever has more than one definition :funny:

As if every definition always applies? Nope. That logic makes no sense.

This IS the common definition that's most popularly used. You're just doubling down at this point. What definition are you going by? [insert condescending emoticon]

I think anyone expecting BTAS type humor... It ain't happening. TDK style humor that Joker had there, which was dark is my guess though Leto might be a bit more off the wall. I think of Ledger's Joker as a very sarcastic, self satisfied sociopath. He's got it all "figured out" and everyone else is clueless, and this amuses him no end. With Leto, from what little we have seen I am guessing he's gonna be a more straight up psychopath, that manages to be unpredictable and spur of the moment. What they may share in common is a sense of humor that is quite dark. I think Ayer has played his hand here with things like goons in wacky costumes killing people left and right in a hail of bullets. I don't expect a whimsical Harley and Joker from Ayer. I expect some hardcore crazy excrement. ;)

Yup. A panda shooting a machine gun is funny and unnerving at the same time. I expect that trend throughout the movie and I'm cool with it.

The footage he showed was surprisingly dark in tone, but at the shoot Ayer told THR of the film, “The real shock is how hilarious it’s going to be.”

great take, god.

I hope they keep Joker likeable. That's the essence of Joker to me that in all of that craziness, psychopathic doing you still feel for him, you still grow a liking to him. Otherwise he's just another crazy pshycopathic killer.

from Ayer in THR article. I hope for dark humor, but no light hearted comedy.

Hilarious, meh... We have Marvel for that already.

End of Watch and Fury had some funny moments. End of Watch was heavily built on the banter between Pena and Gylenhall.

David Ayer can clearly incorporate humor.

Dark humor can be quite hilarious. But I wouldn't say that the humor in the Batman toon is the same as was in say a Tarantino film and I think that's the kind of humor we are getting in this. I don't think the goofy Harley of the Timm show is what anyone should expect.

If you need a egotistical rapper in a movie so you get Kanye West that would be type casting, doesn't matter if he has never been in a movie before or if he has been in 1,000 movies.

If you need a basketball player and cast a 6'5 black guy that is type casting if that guy has been in no movies at all or 1,000. This shouldn't be hard to understand

Really interested how Ayer incorporates the Black Zero event into this movie.

I know a lot of these guys were locked up, but I hope for references to the event.

That's not a definition. :funny: Try again.

That's simply casting the part.

That is casting to type. Or type casting

type·cast

assign (an actor or actress) repeatedly to the same type of role, as a result of the appropriateness of their appearance or previous success in such roles.

represent or regard (a person or their role) as a stereotype.

Google isn't hard.

If you cast someone to be goofy because they are goofy it is called casting to type or type casting. If you want to continue to argue for nothing go ahead. I shouldn't have to spell stuff out for you.

I think that Zod's attack on Metropolis is going to be a big factor in putting together Task Force X.

Apparently, it is for some.

It's clear you don't know what you're talking about anymore since you just posted the Same Exact definition I posted. LOL, thanks for proving my point. I guess I was right after all.

Well Mr Ayer not to put to much pressure on you, but after this week looks like it'll be up to you to deliver a non-divisive/profitable DC movie in 2016. Good Luck.

But seriously I think David Ayer is a much better director than Zack Snyder. And that minus Joker tats the Suicide Squad movie has been getting good publicity from fans.

I can't believe it but Trailer 2 managed to sell me on Jai Courtney.
