History Channel's 'Vikings'

Well this week's episode was 17 different kinds of awesome! That battle, good gracious that was cool.

This show has come a long way from it's first season, it really rips along now.

I like the way Ragnar is treating Bjorn. The kid is clearly very skilled, but I think Ragnar keeps him humble.

Still, despite all the cool moments everyone got during the battle (how neat was it seeing the whole family fight side by side?) Lagertha gets the award for most bad ass moment -her line at the end!

I hope not. I really like him a lot. I hope this is just his way of working things out. He has a legitimate reason to feel traumatized. I also hope this isn't the last we see of Lagartha. :(

We'll definitely see Lagertha again.

As to the priest, after everything he's been through, I think his brain has lost a cog.

I wonder if they're ever going to explore that soothsayer fellow deeper. On the one hand I hope they don't, I like the mystery around him -but on the other hand I'd like to know his story. I love how Ragnar is always sassy with him.

I just wonder what the point of licking his hand is. :p Gross!

Creepy dude like that, probably has candy.

Is the priest losing his mind?

I wonder if Athelstan will martyr himself and become a saint.

I don't think there is a saint Athelstan. King Athelstan was the first king of the English.

Faith and belief in heaven or hell was a powerful motivator that was used to explain why crops didn't grow and why rain fell from the sky during those times. I'm not surprised the priest is losing his grip on reality. He has had his beliefs shaken twice in one lifetime.

I just wonder what the point of licking his hand is. :p Gross!
It reminds me of the custom of people spitting in their hands to shake on it. Maybe this is where that nastiness originated from.

You could describe what he is seeing as visions. That seems to be a theme on the show, so maybe he does become a saint.

Also am I the only one who wants Rollo and Lagertha to hook up? I was screaming at the TV when the shoe was on the other foot for Aslang. Haha....she deserves to feel like she made Lagertha feel when she showed up.

Edit:

Also what is the prophecy that Aslag was talking about? I don't remember.

Don't eff with Ragnar!

Very cool goings on this episode (only 4 left to go!). My highlight was Ziggy asking Floki if he could keep a secret.

I keep forgetting that myself. :( Something like if Ragnar keeps going west bad things will happen to him through one of his sons...? I can't remember exactly.

Ragnar ain't nothing to F with.

I guess licking of Marilyn Manson is another one of those weird viking things.

I wonder if they will do a series about Ragnar's sons commanding the Great Heathen/viking Army.

Hmmm...I might have to do a marathon sometime soon. I really don't remember.

The revenge he took was bad azz. I like that he wasn't afraid to go against Logue's character.

THAT'S FRIGGIN MARILYN MANSON??????

I have wondered that to. My knowledge of Ragnar doesn't extend beyond Google, but his sons were also famous during antiquity.

My mother told me she's a big fan of this show and Game of Thrones. She's already a big fan of Sons of Anarchy so I really shouldn't be that surprised.

But can we talk about what happened to Lagertha? OMG!

I came in here just to post about that! Can't believe I didn't mention it in my initial post. She got Bad Ass of the week for that one, damn!

Is she queen now? I guess everyone just straight up hated that dude.

I am going to have watch that again. I didn't really get a beat on which way the wind was blowing. I thought the man killed him to end his suffering.

My impression was the guy saw his chance and took it. Lagertha seemed somewhat revered at the end there, the guy who made the final blow even did a kind of respectful bow of sorts, I thought. Based on his drunken ramblings and generally *****e-baggery, I get the feeling no one in that village was particularly fond of their jarl.

Of course, that's just my interpretation -maybe I read too much into it, and next week they'll behead Lagertha too (which would be suicide on their part, I'm sure!)

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't the Priest tell the King of Wessex (while they were examining the beaten wife and her husband's legal case for beating her) that the Vikings treat women with respect if her cause is just or if the man was in the wrong or something like that. The Jarl beat Lagertha and maybe the guy thought he wasn't legally right in doing so. So when Lagertha stabbed him in the eye the guy saw it as just retribution and finished the bastard off. By all accounts the jarl let Lagertha get the drop on him so I doubt his people would have respected him much after that anyways.

Ill admit at first it caught me off guard, but in hindsight I think the guy who gave him the chop saw him as beaten and Lagertha as the logical and right side to take in the matter. She will likely want to join them with Ragnar which is best for everyone. The Jarl was never going to do that so he had to go.

So glad to see Lagertha shank her husband as he had it coming. I get the feeling he was an unbearable ass**** who people were only tolerating because he was Jarl. I don't think most his people would miss him now he is gone.

The guy isn't actually Marilyn Manson but I couldn't remember his name so I just call him that :funny:

I'm not sure what to make of the priest and the King of Wessex right now. The King seems to be ambitious and curious to learn about the world much like Ragnar.

I knew Lagertha was only going to take but so much.

The story-arc with the priest is interesting.

I find that guy that plays Floki overacts big time.
