History Channel's 'Vikings'

Aslaug was doing her best Cersei impression at the end. She'll be disappointed Ragnar has returned.

I'm a trifle distracted by how little grown Ivar looks like baby Ivar. Literally all his brothers looked more like baby Ivar. He sounds the most like Ragnar, though.

I'm so excited to see the Mediterranean. I love this show's world building.

Mediterranean, the azure coast, a soon not so lovely place it looks like.

He is the Duke of Normandy and probably off setting up his Normandy Duchy capital that will become the largest and most prosperous city of medieval Europe.

Wow! Rollo's a jerk, but he sure played his cards right then!

I took it as being a King is not an easy task, the burden is heavy and the decisions not easy to make.

That was my impression too. No one was leaping at the opportunity!

Emperor Charles was more cunning than we realized. Having Roland and Therese strangled was ruthless.

Given how Rollo did come through for everyone, I think he felt empowered by trusting someone as powerful.

I wonder if Rollo is starting to populate the royal bloodline of Europe for Millennia? How many children him and Gizla have?

Not the royal bloodline of Europe, he was only the beginner of the dynasty of The Dukes of Normandy which is a tiny part of actual France ( only Charlemagne was more or less the Emperor of Europe before the time of this show and it pretty much fell apart after his death ).

Just caught up on the show and lol this show and their random time jumps. I hate it!

The time jumps are disconcerting at first but if you truly that it will be at your loss.

I found they were kind of jarring early on because the jumps just sort of happened. Now they make a clear point of showing the audience there's been a significant amount of time passed, it's much neater.

Another great season. I didn't like drugged up Ragnar at all but it added some interesting dilemmas.

I have no idea what to make of Floki and Aslaug's scenes together. What did that mean?

I'm looking forward to the second half and season 4. I guess Ragnar is out?

Also, I saw a commercial for the Warcraft movie and it looks like Travis is in it.

Yes, Travis is in the Warcraft movie. If it sucks it won't be his fault. He's more than proven himself with this show. :)

Did anyone notice the blue tinge to the eyes of Ragnar's crippled son (can't think of his name) in the final scene? It looked demonic, like he was possessed…..

One thing I'm left wondering about is the point of Harbard/The Wanderer's plot. With so many years having passed in the time jump I can't see his last visit to Kattegat having any lasting impact -I'm sure Ragnar doesn't care that Auslaug slept around. Harband shows up, sleeps with half the women in town, annoys Auslaug and then disappears. I'm sure the show runners have some reason for it, and I guess it's open to interpretation what it might mean, but nothing I can think of has enough significance to bother giving the story so much screen time.

Incidentally I also thought it was interesting that they showed the tear one the Virgin Mary statue's face. This show always seems to skirt the line of delving into full on miracles and magic, always leaving room for the audience to decide. I suppose it could be argued only the princess saw the tear and therefore it might not have happened outside of her mind, but it came off a little more overt than their usual foray into the fantastic.

Ivar the Boneless. And I'm sure there is more to it given his historical relevancy to the story. Though I haven't watched the latest episode yet to know if there was a tinge or not.

Nothing magical about condensation gathering and running down the face of a statue.

Given Ivar's heritage, extremely blue eyes is to be expected. Ragnar's eyes in that last scene also had a shiny blue sheen. There isn't anything supernatural about it.

I did, actually. I was wondering if they had cgi'd his eyes blue because maybe the actor couldn't wear contacts perhaps? It was creepy indeed.

Here's the promo for the 2nd half of the season:

And here is a slow motion version of it for more details.

Nothing's preventing Harbard from returning to cause trouble again in Kattegat.

. . . and we still have the anticipation of the return of Prince Alfred and Magnus!

And from watching the trailer I can foresee a confrontation between Aslaug and Lagertha - bring it on ladies! Was that Lagertha wearing armour in the chariot?

No, but now that so much time has passed I feel like what he did previously doesn't count for much anymore. I don't think Ragnar even knows the guy exists.

It may have been cg, it wasn't just the pupils, it seemed like the entire eye was glowing as he looks up.

I doubt Lagertha is dead. They would have at the very least shown her actual death seeing as how she's been in the show from the beginning as opposed to having it happen off screen.

I watched the episode earlier and his eye definitely had a blue hue to them and it was not a normal or natural one either. It was almost a glow it was so unnatural.

Lagertha I think is still alive. Leaving her fate hanging in the balance like this reminds me of TWD only they are not trolling us as hard on her fate. I don't know why they are keeping it secret though.
