Hitman: Absolution

it looks exactly like my kind of game, which is the third-person kill or play stealth kind of action games where you're given some freedom in how you choose to play a level/mission.

Thats EXACTLY what the Hitman games are like and they do it better than anything else out there. There are many different ways to kill your main target. From just walking up to him and shooting him, or slipping into the kitchen to poison his wedding cake. Absolution will continue that great tradition.

Sounds awesome. Everything I've heard and seen looks like its something I would be interested in, but I've just been a bit hesitant because I know nothing about the franchise or the mechanics of the gameplay. But seeing as how ACIII is pretty much the only new game that I'm looking forward to until Tomb Raider next year, I've been open to looking to new games and series.

Yea id deff check out Absolution when it drops. You wont really be missing anything by not playing the previous games. The overall narrative isnt really that strong as the game always is more about its gameplay than story. I think this is really the first time IO is putting a heavy emphasis on the story.

Well then, this is definitely on my list. The next few months don't seem to be as big on games as it was last fall, but I'm slowly seeing that there's still a few good-looking games coming out. I think it might be just in time for me to finally renew my Gamefly account.

Yea id agree with that, altho with the release of Hitman alone, it blows last yr away(but im a huuuuuuuuge Hitman fan, so i couldnt be more biased)

Here's a list of the difficulty breakdowns.

Enhanced: Easy

-Supreme training and a physique enhanced beyond ordinary human capacity mean that your enemies are no match for you. By cunning or by brute force, you are unstoppable.
-Players can activate additional checkpoints
-Instinct regenerates
-Instinct will provide hints
-Enemies react more slowly than normal

Enhanced: Medium

-You can rely on Agent 47's superior training and instinct. Remaining completely unnoticed can be a challenge, but you can always rely on your guns to get you out of trouble.
-Players can activate additional checkpoints
-Instinct does not regenerate
-Instinct will provide hints
-Normal enemy presence with normal reaction times

Professional: Hard

-You like a challenge and your enemies will provide you with just that. They will be more numerous and with faster reactions. Evading your enemies will be difficult and you must strike with flawless timing.
-Players can activate additional checkpoints
-Instinct depletes when used and does not regenerate
-No instinct hints
-Additional enemies with improved reaction time

Professional: Expert

-You fight for every inch of progress, often without firing a single bullet. You don't rely on any help and accept trying many times before reaching your target...and perfection.
-No player-activated checkpoints
-Instinct depletes when used and does not regenerate
-No instinct hints
-Maximum number of enemies with fastest reacton

Professional: Purist

-This is a challenge for a true perfectionist. You know every rule, every detail, and all environments by heart. Even then you will die trying.
-No Help
-No guides
-No Interface
-Only a crosshair

Think I'm going for that purist mode. Love the idea of no HUD

Enhanced: Medium for me, haha!

I really don't like the idea of having the enemies act slower than usual.

I wonder if we will still be able to customize the experience? At one point IO said youd be able to turn on/off all these different options that would basically create your own difficulty level.

I usually go with hard on most new games since "hard" has become the new "normal", however since this is my first Hitman game I'll probably start on medium and feel it out from there.

By the way, I really love this burgeoning trend of different difficulty modes doing more than just giving the enemies more health and more damaging attacks. I've been harping on that for years, and it's great that some developers are starting to take a new approach.

Yea I agree. Always hated Hard modes that's just made ur enemies take more damage while you took less.

I'm not sure what mode ill start on. The hardcore Hitman fan in me is screaming for Purist mode but I really wanna try out the Instinct mode as its a feature I suggested way before this title was announced. In fact most of my suggestions are showing up in this game.

I saw this at NYCC. Didn't have a chance to get a good look at it, but I hope to check it out today and gets a hands-on impression.

I didn't even know there was a HD Collection coming out. I definitely have to get this since I never played the older games.

Yea that collection has been popping up from time to time but we never get anything from SE or IO. Id assume theyd want to get it out BEFORE Absolution. I mean i LOVE the Hitman games, but in terms of gameplay they are starting to show their age. I dont know how many ppl will go back to the older games once Absolution drops.

Unless it sucks, in which case I'll go running back to the old ones. :o

Well for me, having not played the older games, I wouldn't mind playing Absolution first, and if I liked it enough, then I would go back to catch up on everything.

It won't. If it does, I'll buy ur copy.

You'd deff be better off playing the others first. You won't be able to appreciate the older games as much after playing Absolution

Agent 47 in a chicken suit and other Hitman: Absolution disguises

Good rule for life: If you see a totally bald, 6'3" man with menacing arching eyebrows in your general vicinity, no matter what he's wearing at the time, it's probably a good idea to leave the area if you enjoy the rhythmic sound of a heartbeat in your chest. ... Continue Reading

I just hope the control schemes are similar throughout the games.

I really loved the Tomb Raider trilogy because all three games had the same basic controls, but when I played the Splinter Cell trilogy along with Double Agent, the controls and visuals were completely different in each game and it really threw me off. I understand that different games add different features in their sequels, but to have all those games look and play nothing alike was really weird for me, especially when there's no option to change them.

haha, deff not. Peter would of been dead a looooong time ago had that of been the case.

Im not sure what you are talking about. Yea each game added new features, but outside of Conviction they were all really similar.

I know that's why I mentioned it it's too crazy he'd still be alive, if that were truly the case. But peters been shown killed on his own show before. It would be funny if they did make a parody of this happening.
