I hope the initial sales bomb. This isnt a practice I want to see catch on
Yea I'm hoping that going forward they just release each "season" at once.

So word is that Hitman is seeing this type of release because Square Enix as a whole was initially in doubt of how successful the current gen systems would become, and that they were trying to capitalize on making money off of games that weren't yet finished.
This is all according to Jim Sterling, who first reported on this back in 2013. Basically, SE wanted all their games to be Online Only.
I'd post his video about this, but there's foul language, but you can find it on YouTube.
I just find it interesting considering that Hitman and the Final Fantasy 7 remake are basically doing the same thing, from what we've heard.Eh I wouldn't take his word without a major pinch of salt. He's pretty much the whiney gamer personified, big, fat, loud, and salty mouthed.
That just sounds like him trying to create a controversy where none exists, which is pretty much his MO. I mean i get it, im not a fan of the episodic structure as well, but fact is we are only whining because its Hitman. TellTale does this with every game and we don't say a thing. Also, as most here intend to do, pass on the game until its released in full. No ones making you buy it day one.
I love the TellTale games and enjoy their episodic release structure, but I'll be waiting for the full version of Hitman before I play it. With TellTale it works because they structure the story that way, and the gameplay is much more akin to a TV show than the majority of video games -cliff hangers, specific scenes, etc. With a game like Hitman, where you are working your way through levels like most other games, I don't see the point.

He claims that Just cause 3 was a mess because it was Online only at first, but the story was tacked on last minute. But if that's the case, why wasn't Rise of the Tomb Raider affected? Unless Microsoft intervened and asked that it be a full game from the start. But would Microsoft even be allowed to have their hand in the cookie jar like that?

what's ironic is this is why it doesnt work in TTG for me. With a tv show, you get an episode almost every week and with the advent of Netflix, almost instantaneous. In TTG games, I have to wait till they are all done before I touch them bc the inconsistent nature at which they are released hurt it. For such story driven content, I forget what happened and what i did between episodes if I go by their release schedule, so that ruins the game experience for me. I have to experience it all at once to get the full effect. I think an episodic content would actually work better with games that arent heavily reliant on story. I think it could work with something like this but its a AAA game and gamers arent used to the mentality of breaking something like this up

Square Enix and Io Interactive have released a new trailer for Hitman, introducing the game’s “world of assassination,” a world where “secret deals and bloody murder decides who holds power” and “agencies such as the ICA work in the shadows to bring balance to the power struggle.”
A beta for Hitman will launch for PlayStation 4 on February 12 and for PC on February 19. You can guarantee access to the beta by pre-ordering the Full Experience, Intro Pack or Collector’s Edition, which we previously detailed. Pre-orders for the Full Experience and Intro Pack are now live on the PlayStation Store, and the Steam page has been updated.
Pre-odrers across all consoles include the “Requiem ‘Blood Money’ Pack,” which features the Requiem legacy suit, Blood Money shirt, tie and gloves, silenced ICA-19 Chrome, and white rubber duck explosive.
Hitman will launch with a prologue mission and Paris, France location on March 11. Read full details about the game’s episodic release schedule here.

Preordered the CE from Amazon. Got a nice discount for being a prime member.
Dude... That Prime discount is awesome. I paid 47 bucks (each) for the Division and Uncharted 4..
I wanted to go digital this gen but that pricing can't be topped.
Hey Pat, just want to hear your thoughts on what has been shown so far from the Beta.
Completely forgot about the beta today. Thankfully can and will catch the replay...
Also a little inspiration from Bourne?

Wow, that's great to hear. I haven't sat down to watch a full walkthrough of the Beta yet, so most of my feelings have come from just a visual standpoint, and it kinda leaves much to be desired graphically. But then again, that could just be the fact that Youtube videos are less compressed and never truly 1080p.Iv actually been playing the beta. Even though im getting the CE for my X1, I got a buddy to hook me up with a PS4 beta code.
Theres not much to say. Its HITMAN at its absolute finest. The game has that perfected, smooth gameplay from Absolution, with level design and layout from Blood Money. Its absolutely clear they went in to this game saying, 'ok what did people love about Blood Money and what did people love about Absolution' and they just combined the two. Theres so many options in each level, its almost overwhelming, but thats what keeps ya coming back. I can not wait to see some of these 'real' levels. Assuming they're good, it'll be easy to say that HITMAN will raise the bar for the series.
It's good to hear the game is good. Too bad it's still being released in such an odd way.
Visually it's fine. You're just watching a bad stream. No one in their right might could think this is a bad looking game. But yea, if you liked Absolution, but couldn't get into the other games because of how dated they were, then this game is going to be perfect for u. Like I said, it's blending the best of Bloody Money(and the games before it) and Absolution.
Good to hear, glad they haven't totally ditched Absolution and kept the things that worked from it.
Also good to hear its a good game more like classic Hitman at least. Even if I dont get it in the current state on release it sounds like it will be worth picking up at later date.
