Holy crap, Captain America is going to be perfect!

I like the idea of an unknown for Captain America. Look at Steve Rodgers, a skinny guy, trully one of the last people you would expect as a hero, then Bam, super solider serum and becomes Captain America. Steve Rodgers was that unknow who became Captain America, and in a way it would make sence for the same thing to happen with the actor in the role.

I don't think

1. Skinny Steve Rogers before the serum
2. Bulked up Steve Rogers after the serum

Is going to be the same guy. CGI? Man, the audience would laugh at the Cap actor that's supposed to be bulked up has a pencil thin body on the pre-1942 scenes.

OK, film the scenes he is thin before the guy works out, and then the rest when he is bulked up. Only use CGI when he is getting big. What is so hard about that?

Oh, and agree with an above poster, this has the potential to be the best movie Marvel will ever make!

No my idea is to use less CGI for a Cap movie based more on realism. That means Cap could get bulked up like Chris Bale did for Batman Begins without the need to emaciate him to anorexic body. Yeah, use 2 actors.

Leave the CGI for the shield.

That would work, too. Not sure you need CGI for the shield, but the 2 actors thing would work.

I don't agree with using 2 actors, as I believe pre-Cap Steve needs to have that emotional connection with the audience. Someone who has the determination of Bale would be perfect. He doesn't need to be extremely skinny in the beginning, just make him appear like your average human being, and make the change a bit more subtle, don't have him transform into a bodybuilder. Something like Peter Parker's transformation in the first Spider-man movie would be perfect. If you notice there is a change in Peter's physique once he gets bitten, but its not too obvious, the impression that he was "different" was felt, and the audience bought it. It could definitely work in Captain America as well. 2 actors would be something I would expect in a Captain Marvel or a MOTU movie.

Yeah, no one complained about Tobey's skinny physique effetcs in Spider-Man.

They have to prepare this movie for a Forth of July weekend!

Cap on 4th of July= HUGE HUGE BLOCKBUSTER HIT!

I like Captain America. I think he is really cool character with his shield and all. I think it would be interresting to see him sort of realize (in modern times) that his country is really f ucked up, and he has to be the poster boy for something that most people in the world hate. And that he himself is actually on the bad guys side. Something like that. I really am looking forward to this movie.

=Yeah, use 2 actors.
Would never work; and you'd lose any emotional investment in the transformation.

Just have the guy lose weight. Or you could use CGI; Beyond Borders turned a normal baby into a starved skeletal baby using CGI.

This thread title makes me giggle. Does anyone actually say 'holy crap'?!

Umm...me. Is that bad?

Not quite, I'd say. Cap has always and will always represents the country, not the government. When he arrives in the present day, he would be very angry with the government, the same as the rest of the country.
