The Amazing Spider-Man How about JC for spider-man 4

I know this is likely not to happen but I just wanted to see peoples ideas on it...

How about John Carpenter for Spider-man 4 or a comic book movie at that.

I have always loved his worked.

if your unaware JC is a horror genre director who scores his own movies and occasionally produces them.

Such as-

Halloween 1978
The Thing
Big trouble in little China
Escape from New York

These are just few from the top of my head but I really think he is an underrated director. His movies are really unique and even though not highly rated he's pure brilliance...

Imagine if He was given the helm instead of Raimi back in 2000. or even now. I was always looking for TDK type spiderman film especially when venom was involved.

Have you seen the Evil Dead movies, The Gift, and the forthcoming Drag me to Hell? Raimi has a long history with horror movies. He even had a small role in Stephen King's The Stand.

I'm not saying John Carpenter is the right man to direct a Spidey movie. But the fact that he's a horror movie director doesn't make him the wrong man for the job.

Your definitely right but I think he could flourish, reason why I say this mainly and bought up the thread is because I was just watching the cult classic,

Big Trouble In Little China
I always liked this movie but it was when watching it recently which made me realizes(you might disagree) how great this movie is and I mean in every respect. From the core up.

I was saying to myself I would give this film 5 stars but found myself saying"you could only give film like TITANIC 5 stars, ok then 4 nd 1/2")

but seriously everything in this production I loved in comparison to new big budget movies of our time and of the past.

Script
Directing
Acting
Casting
Story
and the self composed score.

Its not often you get production where you feel the makers have hit the mark on most of the key elements but this was one for Capenter.


I then thought if only Raimi could have made spidey with more grit to it.

Why don't you thin he's right for the role. Like Joker said, he has a history with horror movies, just like Raimi and seeing as you like his films, I'm just curious as to why you may think John wouldn't be right.

- Michael Bay (Bad Boys, Michael Bay, Transformers, Transformers II: Revenge of the Fallen)
- Steven Spielberg (Jaws, E.T., Minority Report, Jurassic Park, Indiana Jones)
- J.J. Abrams (Star Trek, Mission Impossible III)
- Martin Campbell (Golden Eye, The Mask of Zorro, Casino Royale, Green Lantern)
- Gore Verbinski (Pirates of the Caribbean Trilogy)
- Jon Favreau (Zathura, Iron Man, Iron Man 2)
- David Yates (Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, Harry Potter and the Half-Blooded Prince)

I don't think I could get interested in a John Carpenter helmed Spider-man....unless maybe Morbious were the villain...and in that case, I wouldn't be interested that much, because that's a pretty uninteresting villain.

Yeah, Bay would be someone I would allow story input. I wouldn't want him writing a script, but I think he could do a good job writing some nice action and I feel like he could put a good spin on Peter Parker.

Spielberg may be my dream director for Spider-man, actually, he's my dream director for Superman...that's an alien story he should have done by now...I wouldn't mind him writing some of the story.

Jon Favs is someone who I could see coming up with a good Spider-man story.

J.J. Abrams I would hire almost solely to get his story for a Spider-man film.
