How did you pick your Best Man?

Saw this on a another board and thought this be a nice little thread. How did/ or will you pick your best man?

Im a long way from getting married and while I don't know if she'll be my best friend 10 years from now, I might my girl best friend as my best woman. I know it would be weird but thats the person who I trust the most.

We already agreed that we planned to elope but host a celebration/post-ceremony after we marry but if I had to pick, it would most likely be based on how much I trust the guy, how long he had been there for me, the person I would go to for secrets and I know he would do the same thing for me.

Your wife gets to pick the bridesmaids there big fella. Might not sit well with your missus to have a "best woman" on your side. Anyway, my best mate was the sax player in my first band (we've been friends for 10 years) and my other best man was my brother.

You could ask your bride if your best friend could be a bridesmaid. Many wedding parties include opposite-gender siblings in the appropriate group (bridesmaids or groomsmen) as a way of including them. If you are that close to your female friend, I'm sure your bride would be happy to take that opportunity to grow closer to her as well.

To answer the question, my husband's best man has been his friend since they were in high school.

It's tough when you have 2 close friends and either one of them could be your best man or maid/maiden of honor. I've known of people who makes one friend as best man/maid of honor and then another as a godparent to their child.
