The ultimate right wing super soldier killing machine? Or the more Liberal Paragon of virtue that wouldnt kill a fly? I prefer Ultimate but what do you prefer?

To me, Cap represents an ideal...something that you associate with Mom, Baseball, and Apple Pie. Thing is, we've changed a lot. We blame Mom for all our problems, Football has replaced Baseball, and how many people even bake a homemade apple pie any more?? (Some people might argue about Football replacing Baseball...but, a Sunday Night Football game beat out one of the final games of the World Series.) Face it, our heroes are mostly tarnished, and it's nice to have someone your kids can admire. (It's how I like my Spidey, too.)

Ultimate Cap is a nice What If? kind of Cap...but, in no way can he ever replace the ideal.

Classic. Although he certainly would kill a fly. Of course, the fly would have to be seriously threatening lives and present no alternatives. :)

Ultimate Cap is Wolverine without claws. We already have enough Wolverines.

Classic all the way. It was interesting to see Cap a bit more rough around the edges since he just got out of WW2. The problem is, for my entire read of the Ultimates, he just had this harsh, bullying, uncomfortable nature about him. I like the Classic because while he's not perfect, he's just an inspirational figure, a legend who lives up to the hype, but doesn't let it go to his head in a condescending manner. We still see bits of the young man who volunteered to help end the spread of evil in the 1940s, a genuine self sacrificing hero.

Also, "wouldn't hurt a fly?" heh, check out the "Should Cap kill?" thread in the movie section. A few post-WW2 examples of him taking life have been cited and its rather interesting.

what he said

Ultimate Cap was real cool at first. He had a hard edge to him but he still had that "sentinel of liberty" feeling about him. Then after Ultimates II, they just plain made Cap a *****ebag. He's always angry and acts like an ******* for no reason. Jack Bauer smiles more than Ult. Cap. nowadays. It was a nice update at the time, but Classic Cap wins.

Bucky Barnes! When it comes to mainstream Cap. :word: I enjoy Millar's Ultimate Steve more then i've enjoyed mainstream Steve, but my reading is limited to Brubaker's Steve only.

I like my Captain America when he's capable of acting like a decent human being.

Classic.

Classic. I loathe Ultimate Cap. Steve can be a badass without being a huge prick.

classic......you never forget your first
