How do you like your steak?

I like my cow meat cooked...

  • Rare (how brave... almost brave enough for raw)

  • Medium Rare (this is me... except when I'm feeling brave)

  • Medium (Fence-rider)

  • Medium Well (O_o)

  • Well Done

  • I don't like steak and deserve to die

I will endure a good bout of praying to the porcelain God in rainbow yawns, if the steak is worth it. Any. Day. :o

I just saw that DarkSovereignty voted that he doesn't like steak, and now he just lost the DS battle.

craig I think you should ban him for foodie terrorism. :o
It was a sudden and unforgivable act.

Anarchy and steak-lovin'. :o

Over-cooked steak sucks, but tbh I care just as little for undercooked.

Medium. Always.

I'm sorry you feel that way, but I don't want to catch Ebola from undercooked meat.

You won't catch Ebola or any bacteria from a rare steak. Anything cooked at or over 165 degrees for a short period of time is safe to eat. The FDA requires rare steaks to be cooked for a certain amount of time because of this reason. Also, due to the nature of steak and modern regulations american beef steaks harbor very little bacteria that could seriously harm you. What is there is killed when a steak is cooked to the point of being considered rare. Anything from rare to well-done is safe for you to eat.

Hamburger meat on the other hand is dangerous when undercooked due to the grinding and mixing process which introduces a ton of bacteria into the meat.

Also the red juice you see coming out of a rare steak isn't blood. It's water from the muscle that mixes with a protein called myoglobin. The myglobin gives the water a red pink color. You can read about it in the link below:

Well that's good to know! Thanks for that bit of information, I won't have to worry about catching Rabies the next time I eat undercooked steak.
