The Amazing Spider-Man How do you want the Daily Bugle to play out in this new franchise?

I hope we get to see jjj explain why he hates spiderman.

Yes, but I'd hate a long verbal spoonfeeding explanation. I'd like that you could actually see it rather than hearing it. And I'd like a JJJ played with a straight face that could become humorous now and then because of his sarcasm and grumpiness rather than playing it as a mere comedic relief.

I loved JJJ in Spider-Man 1, then a little less in Spider-Man 2, then I ****ing despised him in Spider-Man 3.

In the comics he explained it too that he was jealous, that was as early as amazing spider-man 7 or 8, i don't know but that comic was collected in marvel masterworks spider-man vol.1

In TAS, it was because his wife was killed by a masked man. So he just hates "masked vigilantes".

Exactly, I want better writing for JJJ and for the entire Daily Bugle to be shot with some seriousness behind it. This means no hammy and cheesy acting either, play it with straight face is right, make me believe that those characters are real people, and not cartoon characters. Humor hear and there is fine, but a director has to know his limit or he'll delve into cheese territory real quick.

Agreed. What seems to be the overall tone of this new film (series) just doesn't jive with a Simmons-like song and dance routine dropped in the middle of it. They would have to play it the way you suggest to maintain the sense of realism and I look forward to that.

I would like to see J.J. James have a hand in making Scorpion like he should of before. I thought in Spider-Man III after Mary Jane left his son he would have collaborated to trap Gargan in the suit and to hunt down Spidey. Peter could even have lost his job after his boss finds out that Mary Jane is dating him now. With Harry as the Goblin it would have worked as a replacement for Sandman.

Yeah that was always odd how we like never heard from John Jameson ever again after MJ left him at the ****ing altar.

I'd like to see Hugh Laurie as JJJ. I know that's kind of a cliche pick, but I honestly think he'd be great with whatever direction they went with the character.

I'm starting to think Peter will be a photographer for the Bugle rather than a web designer like in Ultimate. Obviously, I can't be sure of this, but it's just the impression I get from some things I've seen and read.

Yea hes been seen with a mini handheld camera of some sort.

Yes, that and the fact that he has a picture of Gwen on the debate team on his computer makes me think he's involved with the school paper.

Oh yea! And i read somewhere that uncle ben had seen it because peter was editing it on his laptop

So the Bugle and Jameson definitely aren't in this film, right? Because Marc Webb sent an invite to Zooey Deschanel a few months prior to filming, requesting her as Betty Brant saying he's got "big plans" for the character. Interesting.

The news was first brought into attention by Showbiz Spy (via Collider). According to the site, an insider said, "He (Marc) wants a strong performer to carry the role and Zooey fits the bill perfectly. The role is hers if she wants it." If the report is indeed true and Zooey takes the job, she will reunite with Webb who previously directed her in "500 Days of Summer".

Which is why I'm confused about all this "No Daily Bugle" talk.

I don't really know how you improve the Bugle over what was done in the Raimi films. The only thing I kinda wish is a LITTLE less cheese. Not too much, because the Bugle is not supposed to be serious, but Hoffman was a terrible idea (SMH12, if you defend him, I'm deading you.) and some of J.J.'s lines were a little too goofy, but other than that I loved it. Would like to see more Betty and Robbie. They weren't very looked at in the Raimi films.

There's a Daily Bugle presence in the film, but Peter isn't working there. Also, I'm fairly certain that if Zooey Deschanel was in the film, there would have been an announcement. Maybe in TASM 2?

That van is quite perplexing. I wonder what it has to do with the scene/film...

Well who knows. If fassbender is osborn then maybe we actually have jjj too!

J.K. Simmons was fantastic in the role (and I'm glad his version of Jonah will continue in the upcoming Ultimate Spider-Man show).

I think the best way to approach JJJ and the Bugle is to play it completely straight and serious. Make the Bugle appear is if it could appear in any other film as real NY paper and Jonah could also be the editor-n-chief of that paper.

Not only it'll fit in with what they're aiming in terms of tone but also differentiate with what's come before.
