How I Met Your Mother - Part 3

I thought Robin would meet the mother as well. Milioti doesn't seem to be playing much at the moment.

I didn't find the episode that funny either.

I was certain the episode would have flash forwarded to Lily meeting with Robin and the Mother at McLaren's.

from the latest ask ausiello

Question: There’s been no sign of The Mother since the season premiere of How I Met Your Mother. Any idea when we’ll be seeing her next, or any scoop about her next appearance? —Babar
Ausiello: I’ve been assured that every appearance by The Mother (played by Cristin Milioti) will carry with it a significance, large or at least medium. In fact, the next time we see her (no, I will not specify when), it’ll sneak up on you and be quite a crowd-pleasing moment.

It's better that way as opposed to shoehorn her into every episode for the sake of it...

Better to have less but more significant appearances than more random and sometimes unnecessary ones.

I completely relate to him as well, and would totally go for someone like Milioti.

And I have come across people who do have lots of similarities in common. Of course, sometimes even having them doesn't mean that the two people are actually attracted to each other. It can work on paper but not always in practice.

Precisely, their on screen chemistry will matter I think.

did I spot the s***y pumpkin in there

couldn't tell was that Holmes or not?

I saw that too, but I doubt it was Holmes.

Good one tonight.

If that wasn't her, then they got a good stand in to be her....

And Barney after the honeymoon.... WTF?

That was Holmes.

It looks like they edited in a shot of her from episode where he found her.

Particularly, the flashback in that episode.

Oh Barney, messing everything up. And Robin going to war with his mother. :funny:

Meh, another boring filler episode IMO. Only good part was Marshall's "WHAT THE BALLS?!" line.

 There have been all kinds of fun drawbacks and references throughout this season.

As for this being filler, I disagree. People keep throwing that word around but it doesn't really apply to this type of show. Though the season is somewhat serialized, it is still an episodic sitcom. I'm not sure what people expect. Not every episode will be Ted and the Mother, serenading one another.

I loved the first episode where they show Ted and the Mother together a year later. And I didn't want them to end the series just showing them finally meeting. Judging by the titles of the episodes it doesn't seem like that's going to be the case.

But Matt has a point, that sitcoms aren't necessarily episodic chapters forwarding the plot. If they just wanted to go boom, they meet, they'd have only a handful of episodes. They still haven't handled the locket, Marshall accepting the Judge position, will Lily still go to Rome, Ted meeting with Barney and Robin minutes before the wedding.

I think the thing about this show is it's episodic but it has a larger arc. So either an episode pushes the plot forward (like the ep with the yellow umbrella) or it should be sitcom funny (the naked man ep is one of my favs).

Too many times last season (which I've been rewatching on Netflix) it was neither.

I did enjoy last nights episode, the gift/note stuff made me chuckle.

I'd argue that this season has already been better than the last 2 seasons before it. Everything about the show this season looks a lot less wasted than previous and the writer have been capitalizing really well on opportunities, whether it being plot or comedic.

My problem with the last 2 season is that they would either miss an opportunity, or sacrifice comedy for plot. It's nice to see this season have fun again rather than it being a series of will-they/won't they's with their characters.

Good ep, quite funny. Still hoping the pace picks up a bit though.
