How I Met Your Mother - Part 2

Has it been mentioned that "The Mother" is in fact the same woman that that soulmate company found for him back in Season 1 but he never had an opportunity to meet?

I don't remember the details exactly, but I remember them mentioning that the woman they had found for him played the guitar and was into old movies.

Obviously as we all know now, the mother plays Bass and the first time Ted told her he loved her was in front of a movie theater.

It's probably going to turn out that she was that girl.

I can see this season ending with Ted meeting the Mother for the first time at the train station, saying "And, kids... that was how I met your mother" before the screen fades to black. Then the beginning of season 9 is the two kids (noticably older now, but whatever) saying "Then what happens?" and older Ted goes "What do you mean? That's it! That's how I met your mother!" and then finally the kids coax him into telling them more of the story. Basically the same back-and-forth the fans have had for years about the involvement of the Mother.

But how will they explain how, presumably within the same conversation, Lindsay Fonseca and her onscreen brother suddenly look older? They've already filmed that ending with them at their original ages. If they did a flash forward where they're older, then it might work. However, it would seem a bit unrealistic that they don't ask "then what happens" immediately after he says "and that's how I met your mother."

But if somehow their mouths were obscured, then Lindsay and her co-star could easily voice the characters and ask that question using the original footage, without having to film new footage. I forget how old the brother was though, so if he was young in Season 1, maybe his voice has broken now and he'll sound different?

They could just voice over it and not even show the kids.

Open Season 9 with the final scene of Season 8, fade to black but keep the fade to black and have Future Ted and kids continue to talk..

Yeah, I think the mother will turn out to be that girl, and Ted is going to mention something about how it was probably better that he didn't meet her way back then because he wouldn't have been the same person, and he was still in love with Robin at the time and stuff like that. She was the perfect match for what he wanted, but I think all of the stuff he's went through since helped him become the perfect match for her.

It's also interesting to note that they blanked out her pictures.

I'm just interested to see what the casting of the Mother will be like. Will it be kept super secret leading up to finale/season 9 premiere? Or will it be hidden in plain sight?

I could see the finale bringing in a handful of female guest stars to throw off the scent of spoiler hounds, and making a majority of the guest stars previously unseen women Barney has been with, that end up tangled in the wedding storyline.

Also wonder how recognizable the actress will be. Josh Radnor said he thought stunt casting the Mother would be a bad idea, and I have to agree.

Yeah, I mentioned a while back that I could easily see the wedding episode be filled with Ted meeting lots of girls just to throw everyone off and wonder who the mother might be. Although, its going to hurt that idea now since we'll know to look out for a bass player, or at least someone who says they're in the band.

And as for the casting, I'm curious to see how they go about it, whether it be a relative unknown, or a big name.

Well, yeah, the using a whole bunch of actresses as decoys only really works in the weeks leading up to the episode. Once people are watching, the jig is up, basically.

I wonder, if the girl Ted is seeing in the next episode is indeed Barney's sister, and Barney keeps telling him to see her, if that means they both have a conversation over Ted's feelings about the wedding. I could almost see it as Barney trying to set Ted up with his sister as a way of making him feel better about Robin choosing him in the end.

i recently watched the first Robin Sparkles episode (Slap Bet). It really holds up.

'Let's Go To The Mall' got kinda popular when they put it in...Just Dance 3? I think...

Whoever called [blackout]Benson being Barney's sister[/blackout] gets a gold star. This also puts her out of the running to be the Mother. But damn was she hot... :o:up:

Yeah, when I first read about the casting news, I knew it had to be her. But I was wrong about them having her be the roommate and mother.

I found it funny that Robin's sister is Lucy Hale and Barney's sister is Ashley Benson, since their both on the same show.

'How I Met Your Mother': Five scoops on the rest of the season
by Sandra Gonzalez

Monday’s How I Met Your Mother marks the return of everyone’s favorite Canadian pop star, Robin Sparkles.

And to celebrate what could be the final installment of this iconic series (we’ll expand on that in a bit), Cobie Smulders and executive producer Craig Thomas hopped on a conference call with reporters to tease her return and talk about what else is in store for Robin and the gang this season.

1) This MIGHT not be the end of Robin Sparkles
Even though Monday’s episode, which finds Barney uncovering an unseen Robin Sparkles video — has been highly touted as the final installment of Robin Sparkles, Thomas says, the writers don’t rule out the possibility of bringing her back again should a fantastic idea come to mind. However, he adds, “we’re pretty happy with this as a potential final chapter of Robin Sparkles. I think people will see how this bridges the gap between the Robin we’ve seen before and what came next and what was the end of Robin Sparkles’ career. So if it’s the end, it feels like a fitting ending” One idea that Thomas might pitch? “In the back of my head somewhere I’m thinking how do [we] not get Robin up at her own wedding to perform some medley of Robin Sparkles songs?…But who the hell knows.”

2) Robin’s “obsession” revealed?
In Monday’s episode, the gang has a debate about obsessions and, according to Smulders, “how one becomes obsessed with another person.” In this talk, Robin admits that she was obsessed with someone in the past, which, naturally, launches Barney into a search for that person. “He goes on this mission and at the end of his mission, he finds this video,” says Smulders. But will the identity of Robin’s obsession be revealed? Is it James van der Beek? We’ll find out Monday. Meanwhile, expect to see a darker side of Robin Sparkles and what Thomas calls “the craziest” version of the persona yet. Hint: Both Smulders and Thomas admit that Alanis Morissette was a big influence on this version of Sparkles.

3) There WILL be a Barney-Robin wedding this season.
“We’ve been seeing glimpses of this wedding for, like, three years!” says Thomas. “We have to get there already.” But before they make it to the altar, says Thomas, it’s not entirely clear whether or not Barney and Robin will discuss the possibility of children. (In the past, Barney has entertained the idea, while Robin is aware that she is medically unable to have any.) “Definitely it’s an issue we’re interested to cover…but I don’t want to say we’ve completely ruled out a discussion between them.” Moreover, he said, Barney and Robin are on “an accelerated timeline” so the coming months will see “Robin and Barney realize all the topics they do have to talk about and cover — whether it’s Robin’s dad or all the other things that will come up as they go.”

4) Ted isn’t entirely over Robin.
Even though Ted had some closure on the issue of Robin in recent episodes, Thomas says the door is definitely not closed on that issue. “I don’t want to say how or when, but yeah,” he says, “it’s so built into the DNA of the show and, we’re heading toward this huge finish of this series. Whether sooner or later, there’s a big culminating ending coming in the near future of the show, of course, that dynamic has to be addressed again.”

5) WILL THERE BE A FINAL SLAP?
“I don’t want to say one way or another,” says Thomas. “But I love that people are finding that the slap bet clock still exists.” Additionally, Thomas says they are aware there are two slaps left and “we’re hoping to pay off every loose end before the end of the series.”

Jesus Christ how many times are they gonna keep going back to that ****? So tired of it.

Yeah, I really thought that was just about as done as it ever would be last season and then they bring it up again?! Come on, now... if Ted wants to show jealousy over the fact that a sexual predator like Barney has managed to settle down with someone he's in love with before Ted, that's fine, but the Robin thing? This guy's *****-whipped and he hasn't even gotten any from her in years...

5) WILL THERE BE A FINAL SLAP?

Well there had better not be, but that's what it will feel like to viewers if they only reveal the mother in the very last scene of the very last episode and have Ted say "and that's how I met your mother". :oldrazz:

And Ted needs to get over Robin already. It's getting so tired with that storyline.

Well the way I see it Barney and Robin has been the end game since season 1. I still think in Zip,Zip,Zip they hinted at that. I also believe had Robin not just started pinning for Ted then her and Barney would have been together first.

What he got from her must have been the crème de la crème. At this point its getting kind of pathetic the way he pines after her.
