How I Met Your Mother - Part 3

On a different note, who do people think will get the "with" and "and" credits now in the cast? Will it still be NPH and Alyson Hannigan respectively, or will Cristin Milioti get it by virtue of being the 2nd most important and titular character (even though everyone else is a bigger name)?

Haha, I didn't realize that the last scene in "The Bracket" was a parody of how every episode of Doogie Howser used to end, with Doogie writing in his blog. I really love how the writers always find a way to throw in a nod to something that one of the stars used to be in.

I guess that's why Barney was always promoting his blog in the early seasons.

I'm not sure if it's been said in an interview already, but in EW, the writers say that three episodes will be completely flashback. Now, does that mean that it will be entirely set at the wedding, contrasting with what's been said about stuff being non-linear. Or might they be Mother-based flashbacks to her life over the course of the past few years?

I imagine if there are flashbacks, some of them will be to that economics lecture where Ted was in the wrong class and to when the mother was sharing a flat with Cindy and Ted came by. The other one might be to when she was dating that other guy 45 days before the meeting.

But i would like flashbacks showing where she works, who her friends were etc. We used to get shows about Marshall having various problems with his bosses or colleagues at GNB. I hope we get similat scenes with the mother.

And on another note, having watched a few videos of Cristin Milioti, i'm really liking her as a choice. If the mother is anything like Cristin's personality in real life, she might very well be the most likeable girl on the show. I really hope she gets to showcase her singing a few times and musical skills on the piano, ukelele and bass. She also has a great voice.

Also, i wonder if during season 9 Ted and the mother will meet but not really meet, if you know what i mean. You can bump into someone or even be introduced to a group of people, but until you've interacted on a more one-to-one level can you really say you've met? People introduce me to others and say "this is so and so" but we might not get a chance to talk and at a later stage might not even remember we've met. Have I really met this person in that situation since i haven't even gotten to know them nor them me? I think in Ted's case it can't just be how they literally met but also that they got to know each other as a result.

Since they already announced that everyone gets to meet the mother before Ted, I wonder if it will be during the wedding weekend or if they have all met each other before that?

I would imagine that Barney and Robin would have had to have met her before the wedding, since they would have to approve the band that's playing. And I can see Lily and Marshall talking to her before the wedding or the reception or something before her band goes to play, possibly in a way similar to how Robin met Victoria at the wedding but didn't know who she was.

And I must say, I'm still not sure how this season is going to work exactly, but the more I think about it, the more it seems like they've already been doing this for a while with the Wedding. I mean, before it was more like flash forwards to the wedding, but in the past couple of seasons, they've shown the wedding day, but then had it turn into a flashback. I guess they'll be doing more of that but it just seems so confusing because the show was normally going in "real time" but now we're in some kind of suspended time thing.

Well I don't think she can really meet them before the wedding weekend as that means she has met them already.

The wedding weekend probably includes wedding rehearsal and other things. But most weddings are on a Saturday. That means that even if the whole season spans that weekend, Ted could reasonably meet the mother on the Saturday night and there could still be a few episodes left for the Sunday. Does anyone know what day it is when the mother is buying her ticket and Ted and Lily are driving in the car?

But I suppose they could set the wedding on the Sunday instead just for the sake of it being the end of the series when they meet and giving everyone extra time on the Friday and Saturday.

As for Barney and Robin having already met the mother to vet her and her band, maybe they have just entrusted it to Ted and his judgment, since Cindy highly recommends them.

I wonder if one of the flashbacks will be about the mother an her current boyfriend, and how things end with them

I wonder if Ted actually ends up naming his kids Luke and Leia. They made a joke about it in the first season, but it would be pretty awesome if his wife let him do that.

Ted, that was beautiful...

The way he says it, she's died and he wants to have that extra time to be with her. But then maybe he's just wanting those 45 days because the previous decade was a lot of his missing meeting her by mere happenstance. Or he's a hopeless romantic and overly dramatic there.

Cristin Milioti doesn't seem to be listed in that SDCC panel. I wonder why that should be. It's the only time that HIMYM is ever going to be at SDCC so you'd think they would have the entire cast for Season 9 and not just the original 5.

I got this song stuck in my head all this week when I was googling the actress playing the mother, I can't wait to see her character on the show!

There's some coincidences with this song and the show:
-it's a cover of a song done by Robyn
-it's from the point of view of a girl (Robyn) telling a guy that he should call her girlfriend and break up with her, I was having Season 1 flashbacks

I don't know, it would kind of be weird to see "Ted" and "The Mother" together in the same room. Sure they wouldn't be in character, but they're probably saying that interaction for the screen. Not to mention, what could she really contribute other that "I'm happy to be a part of the show"

I was not really a fan of the casting when I first saw her, but the more I see and hear from her, the more I love her. I really hope they write her in a way that makes her shine as the perfect girl for Ted.

Also, I fixed the link for you.

No problem, you just need after that is after the "v=" part of the link.

And thanks, I have the song stuck in my head now lol. She actually has a great voice. I love it. :awesome:

She could be a surprise guest. Although it would not really be a surprise

To borrow wrestling lingo, I think she'd get the hugest pop if she was an unannounced guest.

Really jealous for my friends going to Comic Con now.

I'm watching the episode in S3 where Ted thought he made out with Lily in college. At the end, they flash forward to 2020 and Marshall is almost completely bald. Poor bastard... these next 7 years are going to be rough. :o

They made Lily look like an old lady too. Ted, surprisingly, held up pretty well.

Until he mysteriously turns into Bob Saget anyways.

After watching the new season of Arrested Development, I actually wonder if that might be somewhat like how the final season of HIMYM will cover a single weekend. Not to the same extent, of course, with each episode focused on a single castmember. But from what we've seen so far of the pre-wedding, I imagine there could be a good deal of interwoven-ness to what's going on. They've done that kind of non-linear stuff before. Then again, this is CBS comedy, and I don't imagine they'd welcome something that would require their audience to exert a certain amount of thought, so it might just end up being more 24-style than anything else.

Nice, although I hope they also make the finale an hour long episode.
