How I Met Your Mother - Part 3

I'm curious to see what the guest star situation might look like this season... with the season being based around the wedding, I imagine we could potentially see a good amount of Wayne Brady, Frances Conroy, John Ligthow, Ray Wise, the two girls from Pretty Little Liars who played Barney and Robin's little sisters... maybe we'll even finally see Robin's mom.

I'd imagine that The Evil Karate Kid was invited to the wedding as well

Finally saw (500) Days of Summer in its entirety, and couldn't help but think...

Ted - Joseph Gordon Levitt
Robin - Summer
Barney - Guy Summer Marries
The Mother - Autumn

And, of course, Chloe Moretz would be Lily. :o:up:

Yeah, only Robin isn't a heinous *****. :csad:

I love that movie. One of my favorites. I was just thinking of watching that tonight after I get some food.

And I can agree with this assessment. I really hope that they can show Ted clearly accepting that Robin is married so that he can fully move on because of choice, and not because its no longer an option.

Yeah, only Robin isn't a heinous *****. :csad:
I will also co-sign this statement.

JGL's character even wants to be an architect. Haha. That one just clicked for me.

Yeah, I adore that film. But Summer is just despicable in every way.

LOL, yeah I remember thinking a while ago about how both characters reminded me of myself not just because they were both hopeless romantics who believed in the idea of "the One," but also because they were architects, which is what I considered doing when I first went to college.

This. Christ almighty I hated Summer. She was horrible human being and nothing can change my mind on that.
You know, while I can agree that she was a complete ***** by the end, what I really love about the movie and felt like it got right, in terms of how quickly someone can fall for someone, is that Summer basically does nothing throughout the film that makes her seem special. Other than the narrator telling us that she has that effect on guys, there's nothing really special about her that makes her stand out other than the fact that he was in love with her at first sight. So its like he was more in love with the idea of her being "the One," and the way that she let him see a side of her that no one else has, instead of actually loving her for who she was.

I think you can say the same about Ted and Robin, with the exception that Robin never did anything to lead on Ted. Robin and Summer both told their guys what they wanted at the start of the relationships, except Ted had the sense of mind to break it off.

It's hard for me to reconcile her being played by Zooey, since she's so lovable on New Girl.

Wow, a lot of frustrated young men here. What was so wrong with Summer?

That's why I love (500) Days of Summer. It's a movie succeeds at all levels at what it wanted to do. They said up front that it wasn't a love story. There wasn't much special about her to him. He wasn't as close to her as he thought, and the scene with his sister had proved that the idea of love and romance he had in his head was never really reciprocated. He cared for her, but he never truly got to know her nor were they really that compatible in the first place.

Question: I am dying for some scoop on How I Met Your Mother. I’ll take whatever you can give me. —Steph
Ausiello: Rumor has it the ninth and final season premiere is tellingly titled “The Locket,” and will introduce a potentially new female character with ties to… Marshall! Camille, described as an African-American or Latina female in her 30s or 40s, is seated next to Lily’s other half on a flight from Minnesota > NYC. She becomes so annoyed with Marshal’s erratic behavior that a confrontation ensues and they are both escorted off the plane prior to take-off. My question for you guys: Who’s this Camille chick, really, and what does she want with Marshall?

Yeah, that's what I loved about it too, because I can really relate. I think the sister had the best line, where she said "Just because some cute girl likes the same bizarro crap as you, that doesn't make her you soul mate." It was even funnier because he had just finished talking about how they were totally compatible just based on a few details. And the fact that it wasn't a love story was even more awesome because at some point, you expect him to do something crazy like go after her and confess his love at her wedding, but he doesn't. He just chooses to move on and continue his life after an initial moment of craziness.

:hmm

Interesting. I wonder what they have planned for Marshall and Lily, since they obviously haven't had the strongest storylines in a long time.

I think its because she was sending so many mixed signals, but later in the "relationship" it was like she clearly checked out and wasn't putting in any effort. She obviously didn't care about Tom's feelings and just came across as so selfish.

I thought the last season was just around the wedding weekend? Unless they changed their minds...

I was actually upset at Tom, not Summer. It was pretty clear from the get-go what their relationship was and how Summer viewed it.

FRIENDS WITH BENEFITS.

But Tom didn't and/or refused to see it that way. Had he though, he totally could've had his cake and eat it too. She would've been his "side girl" while pursuing someone else at the same time.

Like she said, they wearn't in a relationship. They wearn't boyfriend and girlfriend.

That to me my friends, sounds like a free pass to run wild, if interested.

But Tom just had to think she was "The One". :o

The impression that I got was that they spent most of their time together, so a lot of people from the outside would have already labeled them as a couple. If they were just **** buddies, then there wouldn't have been all of that other emotional bonding stuff, which only lead Tom on even more. Usually, its like you bang, then you go your separate ways, but that didn't happen.

And Summer said it herself at the end, that what she felt with her husband was a feeling that she was unsure that she had with Tom, so I think the reason why she couldn't commit to Tom like he had wanted was because there was a part of her that didn't know what she wanted. She didn't believe in love, but he was working to break that wall down. Its just that she reached a point for some reason where she checked out and stopped caring about his feelings, especially after the wedding where she acts as his date even though she knew he still had feelings for her. To me, that's what makes her come off as bad.

3 of my friends took their long term girlfriends to see 500 Days of Summer at 3 different times.
The girls broke up with the guys a week after they saw the movie.

So if you want a girl to break up with you, keep that information in your back pocket

Could be a good tool for guys that want out but don't want to be the breaker-upper.

i want to see it tested out with Blue Valentine and Revolutionary Road. I cant imagine any not married couple going to see either of those and coming out with a happier view at their relationship

Again though, I kinda put that on Tom. Not saying Summer was innocent in all this but, there has to be a point where a guy just has to see that it's just not gonna happen with this girl.

Then again, "Love is blind"...
