Damn it SoNic, ya sold me haha!
At least people would have their X and 4 in a title finally...
Thats what I said. But if the Fantastic Four reboot became a success and FOX were able to keep the momentum up to the third film. A cross-over film would be a great idea to do next.
I'm really done with the original cast. Bring in some fresh faces with a new look at this Universe, the way Nolan approached Batman instead of just making another Batman film continuing the Burton films. That's the appeal of a reboot to me. If you just continue a franchise you are somewhat beholden to the previous creators, tone, storyline etc. The DNA of the Superhero film has changed so drastically in the past 10 years, especially with Marvel. To continue to build on what Singer started with X1 is to limit the franchise's potential imho. Marvel has changed everything, it really raised the stakes and proved that an audience will embrace the more extreme adventure elements like full scale alien invasion. The current franchise has shied away from all those elements of the X-Universe but it really doesn't have to anymore. And that would really open the door to a new, fresh take on the franchise.
I really don't think this franchise is hungry for a fresh take.
After 3 movies that didn't feature the original cast, its not a bad idea to bring them back for 3 more films (DOFP being the first movie).
If it worked for Fast/Furious (which wasn't a very good series in the 1st place), it would work for the X-Men too!
What characters are you so anxious to have back? You speak of the original cast like they are so great but the only person that was ever heavily featured was really Wolverine. Several of the characters are dead in that universe. And others like Rogue never did anything interesting in the first place, so why are you so hungry to bring them back?
Because they are set in the present and box-office wise, they are more marketable, more successful and more appealing. Plus Bryan Singer is already fixing the mistakes that happened in X3. Who knows, we might get Cyclops back from the dead at the end of the movie.
And I don't mind if the original trilogy was the Wolverine show. It still featured Storm, Cyclops, Rogue, Iceman and those other characters. The popularity of the X-Men peaked with them and they broke records at the box-office. So right now I'm just hoping the focus on Wolverine would change starting with DOFP, then it will continue on X5/X6.
Yeah I hope you are right.
Well I'm definitely more confident with moving forward with a X-Men 5 movie than a third First Class movie.
The cast of Original trilogy and the cast of First Class are already tested and we know which one sells more.
I don't want the original cast to return, after DoFP change them. I don't want to endure another performance of Halle as Storm for a moment longer. I am fine with them returning for DoFP for obvious reasons, but after that no more.
Ditching the original cast for a cast that is less marketable/appealing is not a good idea.
The original cast are getting old and after DoFP I would want some new people. If the cast and director stay the same then you would only get Singers X-Men and even though his version if the X-Men is good I want a different take on the franchise. The focus would be on Wolverine for years as well as his on movie, even if they brought Scott and Jean back it would still be the Wolverine show. Singers X-Men have bee influential in defining the comic book movie franchise and it was good in its time. But enough is enough it's time for a fresh cast who could do certain characters the justice they deserve( like Storm and Piotr). It doesn't have to be a reboot, but it definitely needs a recast.
So what if they are getting old? You could say the same thing to the other movie franchises out there like Pirates of the Caribbean, Men in Black and Fast/Furious.
They still look good for their age and they could always bring new faces to the cast.
I want to change my vote.
I saw in another thread how Halle could look as Storm and if they did that along with getting
someone to help her have an African accent then I would be happy. By seeing pictures of her looking like Storm I realized that it was the way the writers portrayed her and she just needed some direction on how to do Storm justice. I always thought she was the worst miscast in the franchise, but now i think that all the actors just need some good writing and direction. If in the next film they do this then I would be happy to see more from the originals.
BUT. Only if they stop focusing on Wolverine and try to make the characters slightly more like their comic book counterparts.
definetly agree on that.
The other actors deserve more attention and better material. And of course, a few of them a better look and costumes.
Anna could be a sexy Rogue, and Kitty could still be more appealing, both on dialogue, action and looks, of course same as Cyclops getting better material and being more appealing, same as Iceman and Colossus... so lets hope they get more justice in this new sequel and possible next one.
I hope after The Wolverine movie is released, FOX will reserve a 2016 release date for the 8th X-Men movie!
zero. I'm fed up with X-Men movies who are basically the Wolverine show and other characters being sidelined and not developed at all. besides the only way it's going to happen is if they reboot it with different cast because this cast only agreed to appear in DOFP is 'cause their roles are very small (except maybe Wolverine's role of course )
As soon as I realized Wolverine was the time traveller I gave up hope.
Hopefully in the 8th X-Men film, they would focus more on the team!
Hopefully Avengers 2 will inspire FOX to finally do this!
