Punisher War Journal should not exist so long as Ennis is doing him tons more justice in MAX.
Not really. The 60s was about that (and a little bit of the early 70s). But after that it was piss poor storytelling. For example the 70s brought us the first Spider-Man Clone Saga (those three issues made me wanna put my head through a wall), the cancellation of X-Men, Stan Lee leaving both Spider-Man and FF, DareDevil moved to San Fran "F***ing Black Widow" Sisco, and the blaxpoitation comic characters.
There was a huge creative gap in the 70s, much like in the 50s and 90s. And it was filled in the 80s by many talented up and comers.
True, but so was much of the 70s.
There was no Defenders in the 90s really. Just a short Secret Defenders comic that went nowhere. No Defenders in the 70s sucked so hard. Did you ever read the crossover they did with Dr Suess....I did.
...I went out and bought it
...just for that reason.
It really wasn't. It's like the bane of my collection. Marvel Team-Up wasn't much better, the Golden villain who turned black kids into Bling....yeah, it was that bad.
The 70s, much like the 90s, is still noted as being a huge creative slump which was filled by the likes of Claremont, Bryne, Moore, Miller, Wolfman, Perez, etc, etc. Specifically I find the art particularly bad.Well, as I've mentioned before, I read my comics from the 70's DURING the 70's, and while there were some![]()

moments, there were some good stuff going on, like Wolfman's runs on Dracula and Amazing Spdier-Man, Gerber's Howard the Duck & Man-Thing, Mantlo's Marvel Team-Up... I could go on and on...
But I'd also like to add that I'm very biased towards the 70's because I read them during the 70's, hence I see that time through rose-cloured glasses, and when I think of the 90's, with the exception of Preacher and a few indies, nothing good was coming out of the Big Two other than hologram covers and other such gimmicks to make people buy multiple copies.

Well, for me, I'm kinda getting into Frank Miller's early works and I've only read The Dark Knight Returns, so I don't have anything to really compare it to. I've heard that The Dark Knight Strikes Again got mixed reviews and I'm assuming it's not as good as the DKR.Everyone goes on about "when will the next Watchmen or DKR come out?" yet what they fail to realize is there have been a number of books that are just as good (or in DKR's case, better) that have come.
What are your thoughts?
