As would I. But I don't think a solo film would be an absolutely terrible idea.

Dude, don't make multiple posts like that. If you want to add something, just edit it in.

Start off with the criminal angle, a master thief, a mercenary to the higher bidder, but with a heart of gold, that carefully plans his missions and chooses his employers. That gives a reason for Clint to have the codename, to dress up, and to choose the bow and arrow as weapons.
Um.... That's the plot of Elektra. I thought everybody was in agreement that Elektra was crap. How can it be a good idea to re-use the same exact plot on another unknown character?

The plot's not bad. It's just the exicution in Elektra was bad.

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS POST, man.

Very well thought out, this is how a Hawkeye film should be dammit. I would so love to see them base it on something like this, it could work.
Thanks man :)
And to use some of the flamboyant of Clint Barton, just look at my sig ;)
I´m an amateur movie director, i write my own scripts, and i do believe i have a very good idea on how to bring every single comic book character to life, yes, i´m that good :p :o
All you have to do is understand the characters to the fullest, divide him into his diferent aspects and realize what are the important bits and the ones that need to be updated or even erase
After you do that, wrap it all up, and bring it to the real world, by adding seriousness and realism.
And always, always, respect the characters, that means, don´t change it without an enough good reason.

That isn´t a plot, so, what are you talking about?
What i gave was the way to deal with the character, nothing more, nothing less.
Besides, Elektra is a ruthless assassin, that was changed from the get go.
She was butchered in DD, so, why does anyone think that had any material to use in a solo movie to be a good movie?
She should not have had a solo movie, case close.
How can you make a movie about a ruthless assassin and make people care?
Bottom line, you can´t...unless, you make a movie prior to her death, to make the audience understand who Elektra was and why she choosed that life.
Just like the comics, make a gap in her life, make her disappear from New York for some years, and then, return as an assassin.
That´s how i would have done it, a DD trilogy, with Elektra reappearing in the second or third movie, after being absent.

I'd cast James Marsters:

As Spike, he oozed the whole "devil may care, doesn't play by the rules aditude." Of course, he was also a bit crazy and overly violent, but then the character's based on Sid Viscious, so what do you expect? James is a great actor. He could pull of Clint.

Anyone like my casting idea?

Marsters in my opinion looks like the Ultimate version of Hawkeye, which I think he'd be great for along with the regular version. Good casting, Question, I honestly see him playing the "bad boy" attitude well. This picture resembles him.

How about for another casting idea, Forbes March? He was in the show Mutant X that Avi Arad created, based on X-Men but unfortunately it was cancelled.

Yeah. I've always thought that with the bleached blond hair he had as Spike, he looked a good deal like John Constantine (who he should have played, not Keanu). But since he's shaved his head, he looks alot like Ultimate Hawkeye. And, Marsters has the "bad boy" thing down to an art form. Spike was the living embodyment of the irreverent punk rocker.

Might be good. Still, I prefer Marsters. I just think he's an all around better actor.

Marsters as Constantine is something I'd pay to see, that would've great casting if he got the role instead of Keanu. Not that I'm saying Keanu wasn't a great choice, just pointing out that I wouldn't complain. I honestly see Marsters more on the Ultimate counterpart of the character, so if they go through with the Ultimate Avengers live action film he'd be a decent candidate. If Hawkeye ends up in the film, of course.

March reminds me alot of this picture from a mini series Hawkeye had back in 2003, he's a close second.

Hawkeye is not a character you waste a solo movie on.

It depends, if Hawkeye is not going to be in the Avengers movie, then you're right, a solo movie would be a waste of time. But if he is then it would be a good idea, it gets the audiences to know who he is and see him kick ass along with Captain America, Thor, the Hulk and Iron Man.

Marsters would have been an all around better choice than Keanu. He can do accents very convincingly, he can play a world weary working class fellow (okay, Spike wasn't actually working class, but he liked to pretend he was), and really, he just would have been great for the role.

I suppose. Still. James Marsters.

I believe he would. Still, Keanu did a fairly good job in the role. I recall seeing a report on a sequel to the film at comics2film.com, and Keanu was possibly not interested in returning. Perhaps if it's true, Marsters could step in as a replacement? Unlikely I know, but I like the thought of it.

Yeah but Ant-Man is ok.

No he isn't for that matter. And I never said he is.

It'd also be pretty stupid to make these movies before an Avengers movie gets made.

Ant-Man is gonna be fine. Get the origins of the characters done first. Or at least as many of them as you can. Let each character find new fans as they did in the comics. Then you put the Avengers flick together. It'll make it that much more fun. However I'm not sure what to expect from Hawkeye.

Hey Vile do you believe Favreau got the Iron Man job yet? JK ;)

Yes,a Hawkeye film would be good to see on the big screen, but I
think that Captain America,Iron Man,Thor,Ant-Man & The Avengers
all need to be made & released first.

Ant-man's not a character that's firmly established outside of Avengers. That's where he should stay.

It's so surreal its almost like mirage.

Nope, he is not really a popular character in comics. I also don't think many people would watch the film if there's one.

I agree; I like Hawkeye, but I don't think he's got the juice to carry a movie on his own.

Hey I love Hawk-eye, but he's a character that really only works in a team environment. He's never been a strong solo character either.
