That about sums it up for me as well. Though I will say that ALL of the other relationships where I have felt love to some degree, reciprocated or not, pale in comparison to the love that I share with my wife, and that's including the relationship I had with my first real love that I was engaged to in college. When REAL love gets ahold of you, you'll definitely see how everything before it just doesn't compare.

sadly, i can agree with you. i've grown a lil numb, locked my heart up a little higher, added some bricks to my walls.

i'm not bitter by any means, but i am heavily guarded, i do know that. Not just in relationships, but to my friends and family too. We were never really affectionate or emotional in my home growing up, so that has kinda stayed with me. It just got stronger as I got older.

And I always find it funny how one can say things to a computer screen that we won't say to people out loud.

yeah.. it's sad, but sometimes it's not so bad.

I'm actually proud of the fact that i can stand on my own without a man supporting me. i see friends and such falling to pieces over lousy men and thinking they are worthless if they don't have a boyfriend. i don't need a man to define who I am.

I'm not a man-basher by any means, I guess I'm just waiting for the one guy to prove to me that there not all the same. I'm still hopeful there's at least one nice guy out there.
