How many tons can Superman press?

I dont think Superman has a limit to strength,even on a day without sunlight.Ive heard cases of the Pre-Crisis Superman and planets,planets weigh millions and millions of tons.

I dont think writers will ever put a real limit on what Superman can do.

There's the answer then. It takes an infinite amount of energy to reach lightspeed, so Superman is infinitely strong.
nope.

Doesn't work that way.

For FTL to work you have to tweak or remove Energy and/or Mass.

Either you do it by slinging the object via an outside source,

Or you remove mass.

Warworld would have to do one or the other to get pass the infinite mass barrier to lightspeed travel,....

doing so would then only require engines massive enough to move a planet,... a lot less than the muscle/legs required to reach the speed of light.

Or it could stretch space/time behind it whilst condensing it in front in a bubble of "special" space/time.

Superboy Prime seemed able to deal with the infinite energy of the speedforce. ;)

Yeah, I never even bothered to think of the mechanics behind that. My thought process basically amounted to:

Speedsters = powerful.
SBP = really, really powerful.
SBP breaking out of speedsters' home turf... hmm... okay.

We never get to see much of anything about the hows and whys of it, so I just assume it's plausible.

Let's see, AP's wise, Supes is a 25, so on a normal day that's....748,982 tons and 1,920 lbs :)

Why he doesn't destroy half the city when he has an involuntary muscle function, well, thats just comics for ya :)

Then again, if you go by comics, and consider the cross-over type comic to be applicable, he and Thor were considered in the most recent crossover that led to the Amalgam (spelling?) universe stuff, to be roughly equal. Thor's in the 100-150 tonnish range for strength, using Marvel's rpg system setup.

Wish they had a statistic for what the kryptonite laced landmass that Supes flew into and out of orbit in the most recent movie weighed. I did appreciate the magnitude of strength required for that, but the movie also did the ridiculous idea of being able to support something that size and weight, in earth's gravity, by hoisting it from a single point of contact :)

Thor's lifted a lot more than 150 tons, so even Marvel's strength ranges don't really work.

Marvel's system for that stuff is royally screwed up. Don't even bother giving it a second glance. :o

Supe's powers involving moving large objects appears to be a variation of a touch tk field.

Superboy's are. Superman's pretty much run the gamut of explanations, from just bein' real strong-like to the TK field explanation and back.
