Note: I couldn't find the Saw III thread and the search engine still doesn't work.

No poll, just post a number.

Opening Weekend- 42 million
Domestic Total- 105 million.

And before anyone here calls me crazy or fanboy or dumbass, just remember this...

Saw:
Opening- 18,276,468
Domestic- 55,185,045

Saw II:
Opening- 31,725,652
Domestic- 87,039,965

I think you're right on. It also depends on what else is opening with it that weekend.

It's amazing to see that Saw II made that much money domestic. How many horror movies make that much dough?

The Saw series rocks, thats why its making alot of money.

It will make more than all Hype users and Roger Ebert have made or will make in their entire lives, combined.

The Saw III teaser doesn't look all that great, but I still think my prediction will be right. Even if the full trailer for Saw III isn't an improvement over the teaser, I'll still see the movie in theaters.

It'll probably make a lot of dough.
It's a successful franchise that has delivered so far.

It'll do good, definitely more than The Fog, The Omen, Boogeyman.

I think its going to be huge, but I must disagree with you, the teaser looks awsome!

Saw III?

Opening Weekend: $36m

Domestic: $92m

But I think The Prestige will be enough seripus competitor for Saw III.

I think it will make something like:

Opening Weekend: $28m

Domestic: $79m

if they market saw 3 correctly it would be a great grossing film

Does Saw 3 open agianst the Prestige?

Silly Prestige and it's October 20th 2006 release date. Didn't the stupid studios learn last year...don't release a ****ing movie before a movie in the Saw franchise? Through the prestige isn't a horror movie, but I wouldn't be shocked to see it drop over 50% the following weekend when Saw III comes out.

And I find it funny Universal didn't learn jack **** when Doom bombed. It opened the week before Saw II in theaters and on DVD. Both times Saw II owned Doom. See...

Ouch...nasty 72.7% dropoff for Doom in it's second week. Should have released Doom...I dunno...in it's original August release date? Nooo...wanted to release it around halloween. Silly fools. :)

Saw 3 has some competition with Grudge 2 coming out the same weekend. I think saw will do better though.

 really? Grudge 2 opens against Saw III?

http://boxofficemojo.com/movies/?id=grudge2.htm

Grudge 2- October 13th. Saw III opens...October 27th. :o Grudge didn't want to get it's ass whooped so it opted for an earlier date. It will now kick The Marine's ass on Oct 13th. Saw III really has no competition at the boxoffice.

It would be smart if it didnt open same weekend as saw.

Saw 3 will easily open to number 1 that weekend, however the prestige will do really good aswell.

Stupid movie execs are one of the reasons for the faltering box office performances. When you open movies together or so closely, people will usually decide to see ONE, not both. Studios need to work together and space out their films so that people can see more instead of having to decide to see few.
