How to do the Joker's scars?

Yea I ordered it all in one bulk, the collodion, the liquid latex, the nicotine tooth enamel from them, but you should be able to find some liquid latex at a "spirit halloween" store if you have any in your area or at Party City, maybe.

cool. yea i might have to do some shopping instead. i've only tried the collidion on my arm for now...

what are you using the tooth enamel for?
o and thanks for all your help dawg... i did end up ordering that suit from the same place you did. (damn hurricane in TX delayed me in ordering it; w/o internet)

The tooth enamel is to make your teeth look all yellowish and decayed like his were in the movie.

Here are my things for the joker scars and getting the Joker look:

Rigid Collodion: $4- to make the illusion of indentation
Liquid Latex: $6- to create the "keloid bubbles"
White cream make up: $2
Black cream make up: $2
Red lipstick: $2
Joker Wig: $16
Baby oil: $3- to thin out and make the wig look gross
Teeth stainer- $5- his teeth were stained as you can see
Costume- $35 you can find it here: http://www.anniescostumes.com/batman.htm its a very very good quality I might add. It comes with the pants as well.
Grand total: $75- yes I went a little over board. I'll post pictures when I'm done. It's going to be for halloween.

This thread has revived my interest in going as Officer Joker to my Halloween party. All the scars I've seen on most sites don't look that great, and would definitely look awful without the makeup on top (well, most likely there would be a little 'paling' makeup). However, some of these scars look great without makeup over it, so now I'm interested again.

All you need for great Officer Joker scars are rigid collodian, liquid latex, and a base/concealer make-up that matches your skin tone...

Yeah, I didn't know about the collodian before this thread, so this was a good insight. I'm still terrible at things like this, so I'm still debating it. I don't want to invest too much effort/money into the outfit itself, and most cop costumes are pretty crappy.

I saw the question posed, but didn't see an answer... where would a good place to buy these things offline? I'm assuming the typical Spirit and Halloween Scene type places wouldn't have it.

Yeah, they don't. I'm looking around for a shop in the Chicago area myself.

I'm using and am pleased with Liquid Latex!
I made some models out of sculpey clay, bake them, pressed them into fresh clay to get the impression, and baked that to make my molds.
And the results

And I'd like to say that I have full range of motion with my mouth and face with these on. Also, after keeping them on for at least 2 hours, they didn't budge. I used Liquid latex itself as an adhesive but putting some underneath the prosthetic and then blending in the sides.

A note-- I have since shrunk the scar on the right side, as many have told me it is far too long.

Hope this helps! :D

Ah, weak. My party is next Saturday, and I'm not about to pay for like 3 day shipping for it. Unfortunately, I don't see any stores around me on Long Island that might have it.

Hmm, the Halloween Scene site has the collodion to purchase, maybe I'll luck otu and they'll have it in stock since I literally have a store across the street. I guess I'll find out tomorrow.

Went to a Spirit Halloween, a Halloween Scene, and a Party City, no luck on the Collodion. With no time to ship, I guess I'm out of luck... oh well.

Plus these stores online are charging ridiculous shipping fees. 5 dollar collodion with 10 dollar shipping. crazy.

Seriously. Even if I ordered it a couple weeks ago it still would have been a ripoff. But at least then I'd have it.

With the air dry clay method, do you just let the clay dry and apply the latex layer by layer, letting each layer dry before applying the next coat. Will it stick to the clay?

Isn't that clay heavy? Wouldn't it fall off with the weight in spite of all the latex?

Um yeah, the shipping charges are insane especially since I know how much it really costs to ship things. There are some sites showing $30 to ship and it still takes 5 business days (overnight, maybe,...ground, no way!).

I think the place I ordered from said 5 biz days to ship, and it was an $11 charge. But the total purchase ended up being $17 so if I have it by Halloween I'll be happy....the junk stuff I have will not cut it.

I'm working on a tutorial for scars on a budget, I should have it up later this week.

No, the clay is just for making the scar moulds. My question is, when the clay dries, and I start putting latex over them (that will be the actual prosthetics), will the latex stick?

No it wont, and yea do one coat then let dry(doesnt take too long you can tell) then apply another coat, maybe 4-6 coats max, then just use your fingernail or something to lift up one edge then it will peel right off with no probs, make sure and baby powder the scars after you peel them out.

Baby powder them after I peel them off? What does that do?

These are awesome! I'd definitely like to know how you achieved these. Silicone?
Truly amazing.

Okay guys I'm running short on time. Does anyone know where you can get rigid collodion store wise? I don't think I"ll have time to have it shipped. Anyone please?

Annnddd my first try with Collodion (note: focus is on lips. I didnt feel like makeupping the rest of my face. Only did lips. The rest is a poor photoshop)

Argh! Fellow clowns, help me!
Halloween is tomorrow, and the Collodion that I ordered a couple weeks ago still hasn't arrived. It was due to arrive on Tuesday, and so far... nothing.

I'm certain now that it's not going to turn up for a while, and I need a way to make scars by tomorrow!

I'm allergic to latex and don't have too much money to hand.
I've tried moulding them out of costume shop face putty - it didn't even stick to my skin.
I tried some better quality fiberous scar skin, which moulded well but came off as soon as the makeup hit it.
I also tried expensive wax that was almost perfect while I was moulding it, but.... again, as soon as the makeup touched it it just sort of....melted.

I am honestly on the verge of losing my marbles, I've spent so much money on all this stuff and my costume is perfect, my makeup is getting there... the only thing dragging me down is the lack of this sodding collodion!

HELP ME!
