How to get a job?

i've been having the same problem to. i did an application online for a new movie theatre that opened near my house and almost 2 weeks later, still havnt heard from them. Should I just go there and ask if they got it or get a new one?

Call and ask for the hiring manager and tell him you recently filled out an application and you're calling to check up on it. But I always do that and they say they're not hiring :(

Yeah i know what you mean thats what i used to do. if i wasn't for my sister i wouldn't have my curent job.(Mcdonalds :csad:) I'm trying like hell to get into the movie theater almost right next to it though.

I can't take another day of Mcdonalds.:ninja:

I've applied at Godiva & Publix. Neither one ever called me back.I have an application for a movie theater..I just gotta go turn it in someday.:o

Try and look for a job outdoors, parks programs, working with kids etc.

I don't think retail is the best place for summer help seeing as they can hire college kids who have their own cars and can legally work longer hours.

Your only other options is having a friend or family member try and get you some sort of job at their office, restaurant etc.

My first job was at a movie theatre. I was hired just before I turned 15. It was a great job, especially if you love movies (and free movies :) ). Anyways, the staff consisted of mainly young kids under 18 doing simple tasks working at min. wage at the time so I think these kinds of places would be great for young kids looking for their first job. The pay obviously isn't going to be anything special, but the experience that is gained will be important. Also, did I mention free movies!

I was a dishwasher at a restaurant.

Seriously, it's so easy to get a job. Step 1: walk out the door. Step 2: try not to piss on anyone.

You're going to have to do some picky searching unless you just want anything, because hiring managers will give teens the worse jobs available as they know you guys are desparate for work.

I do know of a few places that don't have applications and ask for resumes. And Babs you are lucky

But I did the little things Ahura Mazda said to fix it. Just how should I say I've taken two years in Spanish.

Does the resume look a little better now?

Well there are some interesting things there but there is still work to be done.

1. The resume is not clear, you have bunched everything up. Do not forget that most people are recieving 100 resumes a day and often they will throw away after looking at one line. Seperate out the tasks and the languages from skills.

2. Put back your education, especially that you are an honor student and if you have your SAT scores put that as well (I would not suggest posting them of course).

To make this easy on you, I will post my edited old resume (it does not include my latest job given I left my last one). Obviously, you do not have as much to say but the format is what you need to follow except you should inverse education with professional experience which in your case should be replaced by your extra curricular activities.
