The Dark Knight How will they handle the general public?

Not to rain on anyone's parade, but it is reasonable to think that Ledger will go out and about dressed up as The Joker and do this stuff? Its not like he IS The Joker, he still needs a script and everything...

Naturally? Who said anything about it being Heath by himself? Who said anythign about there NOT being writers.

Bond's demographic is narrow too, but it continues to justify its existence for the last 4 decades. WB doesn't need to expand to other demographics, it should just expand on the demographic it has. As 300 has shown, you should not underestimate how many older viewers are willing to shell the money if they like what they see.

What good is it to anyone if they please the kiddy crowd and lose its main demographic in the long run?

I know that by making the movie kid friendly and marketing towards kids means more money. But am I the only one gitting pissed that everything has to be kid friendly these days.

does anyone have any info on Wizard World? What day? who will show?

Another good way was like in Forever when they had Seal and U2 do songs for the movie. Kiss by a rose was one of the most popular songs that year.

I hope they do the marketing similar to Batman '89. But one thing's for sure, early next year it will be in full steam. Hopefully it's huge.

Funny story. My best friend went with me to see Batman Begins when it came out. He loved it and was shocked at how great of a film it was. The ending scene with the Joker card both made us talk about how the Joker will be done in the next film.

That same night I bought Batman 89 on DVD, and a few Batman comics (the first I ever bought) and we watched Batman 89. It had been a long while since I saw that film, had forgotten much of it - and I think it was his first time seeing it. We were left in awe at how badass Jack's Joker was and how perfect it was. We then got into arguing whose Joker was best: Jack Nicholson's or Luke Skywalkers. I did my best to defend Anakin's son :(

Though I have kept him up to date on TDK, and he loves what he has heard - my friend has always stated there is no way to top Jack Nicholson.

Well after yesterday, he stated to me "I think this may be a Jack Nicholson killer".

I think that is the response many mainstream movie goers will have.

Indeed. This is a meaty role -- surely any actor would love the opportunity to have such a role to take the gloves off with? I think Heath knows how deep this character is, and will be doing something special for a character that is a rarity: a villain who -- on most occasions -- outshines the hero.

I have a feeling (after hearing the voice and the laugh, and how Ledger is taking this so seriously) that this performance is going to be very special.

Also, Batman Begins kept the kiddies away in the same way that Batman Returns did.

Thats bull****. :whatever:

Batman Begins struggled and strained to do $200 million domestic and couldn't even do $200 million overseas.

Spider-Man did $400+ million domestic and I believe $500 or so million overseas. Do the math and figure it out. That money didn't just fall from the sky. :whatever:

I don't know too many average/typical adults on this planet running and screaming to go to the theater to see a Spider-man film.

Get a clue.

I'll say it now on July 29, 2007 for posterity:

The Dark Knight will struggle to make $250,000,000 domestically no matter how good it may be.

Why?

It's simply because a certain segment of the movie going public (kids 10 and under) have little to no interest in it - period.

Now, I'll bookmark this post for next year.

nah little kids love dressing up as batman

Batman Begins low numbers were due mainly to the public perception of Batman being a used, washed up franchise. It being too "mature" for children was not a detriment.

I live in CHicago and the cubs are playing really well, how bout a Joker disturbance at the game? 44 thou would see it and the whole nation would if it was on wgn which is nation wide free channel.

dude, seriously.. any person who states that they are "brutally honest", goes into a public forum consisting of fans discussing a movie project that they hold in somewhat high regard and decides to say "THIS MOVIE WILL MAKE $5 DOMESTICALLY blahblahblah", which is something that offers no real value of discussion, is a troll. simple.

I'm as big a Batman fan as they come.

But I also live in the real world.

You might want to rethink the "mighty detective" angle.

I just hope we get a good opening weekend box office...and not 45 million again.

The legs and word of mouth for BB were phenomenal
