The Dark Knight general public....

I was in WHSmith (A popular newsagents in the UK) and Empire was on display in there the week the Joker cover came out, and I saw this guy scan around the magazines, and suddenly his eyes caught the cover, and he couldn't look away, he was staring at it for a while.
The promotion will definitely catch the imagination of the general public, even if they don't know what it's all about. After seeing it, they're no doubt going to look more into it.

But without the general public TDK will make nothing in the cinemas. we are a VERY small percentage of the movie going public.

I dont think films are as eagerly awaited as yesteryear remember 15-20 years ago there where virtually non exisstent no internet to show us images just posters and info in magazines also today there are far more ways to whittle away are time especially in the 15-30 age bracket i think TDK is aiming for more movies then ever, music, studying, work, relationships ect.

Are you kidding? The anticipation for this movie is sky-high. Hell, my wife and brother, neither of whom could give a flying f*** about the Batman, are waiting for this movie. Movies are just more visible now, more talked about from an earlier stage of production. There may be less mystery about them, but they're still highly anticipated.

I saw the people do the same thing for Spiderman.....

Movies are bigger than ever because of the Internet. It's turned us fans into cheap marketing tools to spread the buzz and it's allowed word of mouth marketing post release travel across the globe in a matter of seconds.

I've got a friend that I hadn't really talked to in a little while (and when we did, we weren't talking about Batman), so I hadn't had a chance to talk to him about it yet, but he brought it up to me that he caught the trailer and we talked about going to see it.

It's coming... It's still only January.

I dont think so there is more talk yes but the anticipation just isnt as prevalent. if your a fan of course you will be chomping at the bit for the movies realease but the average movie goer while they will be interested it wont be there only thought when it comes to cinema. the last really anticipated movie i think was the First lord of the rings film

because of me everybody knows about this movie...
I'm doing full marketing pretty much for it...

I'm becoming more and more confident, that even if marketing towards the general public doesn't kick up a couple notches, this film will be a success through positive word of mouth. Hell, some of us already have non-Batfans excited, just wait till the actual movie comes out!!! :word:

forget any worries about the general public now, the hype for TDK is unreal. its only had 1 trailer and 1 teaser and is hyped just as much as iron man.

i cant wait for the tv spots and other promotions

It's funny reading threads like this. Like every other comic movie, people think if a movie doesn't start promoting itself like crazy six months before the release, the studio isn't confident. There's enough promotion right now and when we get to July, The Dark Knight's promotion will kick into high gear, like every other movie does in the month leading to it's release.
