) & since it wasn't a hit w/those who did it doesn't mean much. Finding bad reviews for it is easy. Finding good ones? Not so much
Nah. John was featured more and had more importance to the storylines. You THINK a Stewart movie would flop. That's wonderful. We KNOW for a fact that Hal's did. John would unfortunately be held down a bit by the stigma and stink of Hal's messPut John as the main character of his own movie and it flops even worse.
He's boring. Martian Manhunter had more of a personality in JL and JLU.
JLU is not most cartoons

Part of it is. 14 mil US tickets is suspect. Tickets run about $10 + up (even more for 3d) & the movie made far short of $140 mil here.
Probably so. Hopefully one not involving GLs. We'll probably get along better.Comparing me to Sethy? Ouch. Unlike Sethy I don't insult people over fictional characters or get offended like somebody's dissing my family when they diss somthing I like. I'm not gonna fact check that average price thing since you're done here. If that's true I really need to start seeing movies outside of Philly lolFor ****'s sake. Average price at the time was 7.93. Nothing else to go by. Regardless, more people saw the movie than the show. End of story.
You seem perfectly normal in all of your other posts. But when it comes to Hal Jordan you turn into the Sethypants to John Stewart's CW. Anyhow, I'm done with this conversation. See you in another thread.
But Hal is the main character. He has the most screentime out of anyone, he's the focus of the stories, he's the one on the promotional material and he's the only one in every episode. It's Hal's show. Everyone else is a supporting character. Just like how it works with every show.
No because john is still more known then hal, more folks would have come out to see John.OK Brainchild, switch John and Hal. Movie flops worse.
) they mighta made some real dolo. ShameJohn's mainstream exposure was great though. He had the quality exposure that people don't forget. NONE of the shows that used Hal made the impact that JL did. Most of them were pretty lame. Shows like JLU & Gargoyles raised the bar for storytelling. When Hal's film was about to come out I had WHITE people asking me why they were making GL into a white guy. I never had any doubts that the movie was gonna fail. John was still the one in the GA's mind. I also vowed not to pay for it when the decided to use Hal. If they'd have just used some COMMON SENSE (get it?) they mighta made some real dolo. Shame
If people want a Lantern other than Hal, use Kyle or Alan. Both of them can diversify as much as John would.
Another childish waste of a post. We already went over this. WB ****s up when it comes to DC films. A lot. They ****ed up w/GL. You're putting too much stock into what they want. What they want didn't work out too well for Hal's movie.Hal's film was better than John's film.
Oh wait, WB don't want to make a film with John in it.
John's lack of comic sales has nearly nothing to do w/the success a movie could have had. We are in the minority. The mainstream doesn't read comics. Hal's ability to sell more didn't save his movie from failure. Cartoon John's popularity was so great they changed comic John to be like him. That's telling of how popular he was. Many episodes focused on him and Hawkgirl. That new personality you speak of is all that matters for this discussion. People liked it. Nobody cares that they had to change him. All that matters is that they were good changes that made people like him. I'm not concerned w/comic John which is why I'm not bringing him up. He's not important to the debate at hand. Cartoon John>>> ANY Hal. Especially the one used in that awful film. Distancing things as far as possible from that megafail is reason enough for nixing Hal.The only reason people have for using John is JL is he was on the cartoon that is 10 years old. Rarely had an episode to himself, and was only used on that show because they wanted to diversify the faces in the League. They basicslly created a new personality for him, to boot. He's never been particularly popular The JLU, certainly not in comics. He can't carry a book by himself and his constantly **** on as the resident GL martyr.
There's no compelling argument for John over Hal. The only semi-relevant argument seems to be "the movie flopped" which has nothing to do with Hal as a character, or for that matter the strengths of John over Hal. In fact, if you can't see the futility of you anecdotal evidence of the popularity of John because of a cartoon within your circle of friends there's no hope arguing with you. Putting John in GL wouldn't have changed the fact that Campbell had no clue how to handle the character or the fact that the studio meddled as they did. They were uncertain of the concept, dien't trust it to hold its own and that showed throughout the film and the lead up to it. The number 1 example of this is that they even felt the need for Tomar-Re's exposition about the origins of the GLC at the beginning of the film instead of having him say all this to Hal at the Book of Oa. Had nothing to do with Hal or John, but the general idea and WB's apparent feeling that this might be pushing it too far for audiences to care. Their lack of faith turned out a subpar product and it confirmed their fears. Self-fulfilling prophecy.
Nah. Using John would automatically get rid of a few of the problems that crapfest had. No complaining about being afraid of every damn thing and no dead daddy issues and no silly green domino mask. Movie would have to be different because you can't write John as you would HalThank you.
Having the same film but with John in place of Hal would have still resulted in the same film. Same reviews and same gross. It still would have flopped.
