How would YOU reboot the Fantastic 4?

Ah, I'd rather Spider-Man doesn't get involved in the story.

Well if it's not Spider-Man, then it will likely be Iron Man, just like he's in Spider-Man: Homecoming.

And quite frankly, FF would need the boost and also would need to show it ties into the larger MCU rather than just being in a solo film by themselves again.

Spider-Man is a more natural fit though because of those villains from the Frightful Four he's already faced, and he also has teamed up many times with the Fantastic Four. He'd also be able to interact with Johnny Storm.

Mr. Fantastic: Ethan Hawke
The Invisable Woman: Sarah Paulson
The Thing: Liev Schreiber
Human Torch: Blake Jenner

Doctor Doom: Damian Lewis

Guardians of the Galaxy didn't need any character to boost them.
Tony will be in Peter's movie mainly because he's the one who blackmailed him into the battle against team Cap, and tailored his new suit.

Guardians of the Galaxy didn't already have 3 poorly received movies behind them, with the last one having made the brand so toxic that they were the laughing stock of comic book fans (except for FFINO defenders, for whom that film is still their inspiration).

GOTG didn't go in with their main villain completely ruined and reduced to a pathetic electrical thorn in the FF's side in the eyes of the public. GOTG were a blank slate with no real public perceptions at all. It's not the same thing with GOTG and the FF.

That Coldplay song "Viva la Vida" could be easily used to describe what happened to Doom, from being the top Marvel villain and regal monarch of Latveria to a becoming a drunken anti-social blogger who looked like a homeless man wearing a trash bag:

I used to rule the world
Seas would rise when I gave the word
Now in the morning I sleep alone
Sweep the streets I used to own
I used to roll the dice
Feel the fear in my enemy's eyes
Listened as the crowd would sing
Now the old king is dead long live the king
One minute I held the key
Next the walls were closed on me
And I discovered that my castles stand
Upon pillars of salt and pillars of sand

Reed Richards: Patrick Wilson or Hugh Dancy
Sue Storm: Jessica Chastain or Elizabeth Banks
Ben Grimm: No idea...my top 2 choices (Jon Bernthal and Bobby Carnavale) are already in the MCU
Johnny Storm: Zac Efron or Dylan O Brien

Annihulus: Some voice actor
Doom: Joaquin Phoenix
Mole Man: Paul Giamantti or John Malkovich
Silver Surfer: Alexander Skarsgard
Galactus: Michael C Hall (come on, listen to his voice)

Reed Richards -- Matthew Goode (could easily see him pulling off Reed, watch his interviews and he creally comes off as well-articulated and, idk, nerdy? I also love his voice)

Johnny Storm -- Blake Jenner (Whoever plays Johnny needs to able to convincingly pull off a teenager and be close to Tom Holland in age. Jenner is perfect imo)

Sue Storm -- Blake Lively (She's really improved as an actor over the years and I think her real-life, bubbly, fun-loving demeanor would lend itself well to Sue)

Ben Grimm -- Jake Gyllenhaal (Jake could easily pull off the quintessential strong, tough protector that is synonyms with Ben Grimm. He has a lot of range as an actor + his facial features would lend themselves well to Thing (brow and crystal blue eyes)

Victor Von Doom -- Andrew Lincoln (tried to cast Victor and Reed close in age, Lincoln can be scary as hell, and oozes authority which is what Doom needs)

Silver Surfer -- Matt Damon
Galactus -- George Clooney
Blastarr -- Andrew Pleavin
Annihilus -- Gary Oldman

Reed (Ronan who?) —

700

Sue —

700

If in the MCU, I'd give each one a separate origin behind their powers, and not in a solo movie, their movie starts with them established as a team.

Um. . . what?

I cannot, for the life of me, comprehend what would make this seem like a good idea. That would be on the order of having the team be called Fantastic Four despite only having three members. Getting their powers in one singular accident is. . . kind of crucial to their story.

You mention that, and then mention Blake Jenner in the next breath. He doesn't come across as a teenager. Maybe if this were back in the days of Dylan O'Brien being cast as Peter, it might've worked, but Jenner looks older than Holland. Either you make Johnny in his 20s, or if you want to go for someone who looks like a teenager, cast someone younger.

And why does Galactus need someone like George Clooney? Are we going to get Galactus constantly lowering his head and looking at the floor when speaking? :o

Galactus would likely be CGI, and they would get someone to do his voice who sounds very dramatic. Clooney does not sound like a world-eating alien.

Well then, it is best skipped.

Liev Schreiber as The Thing OR BUST!
I like this casting choice.
Is he Jewish?

He's a good actor. Grimm doesn't need to be a big guy

And Chiklis is tiny. Schreiber is 6'3. Again not that it matters

He is a big guy, though, just not in the way Chiklis was.

We just had Jamie Bell.....

Liev Schreiber would be a interesting choice. But he may be a bit too old for this franchise.

Yeah, I would say he fits everything but age. Since I'd like a slightly older Reed as well, the age isn't terrible. However, are we talking about a movie filming today or a theoretical Marvel movie (best guess would be 2020)?

Yeah, I'd be surprised if we see anything for another five years. That would put him in his mid-fifties and he'd be in his sixties in later films.

And if we get an appearance in Infinity Wars, for example, I'd expect it to be a young Reed and Ben.

I think he's a good one to say: "It would be cool to have someone like him" - physically big and able to do some humor mixed with drama. I would have definitely been on-board with him fifteen years ago, but I can't see him working in the real world with the situation we've currently got.

I mean bigger body size not height.

He can bulk up...

But in any case I agree with Willie Lumpkin:

I wouldn't reboot the F4... I'd scrap them for the foreseeable future and just get the Silver Surfer and Dr. Doom into the MCU. I feel like some time needs to pass to wash the Trank/Fox stink off of the brand. You could say the same about Doom of course, but Doom in FantFourStick was so unrecognizable as the character that I feel like it wouldn't matter. Plus, Doom wouldn't be headlining a movie... he'd be the villain. F4 would have to have their own movie because trying to introduce a whole team into a solo superhero film or another team film like The Avengers would likely make the whole thing feel cluttered.

Casting for The Thing and Dr. Doom is always going to be problematic because you're looking for someone who is a talented actor that doesn't mind their face not being seen for 75% of a movie.

Chiklis was willing to do so, allowing him to spend a good portion of both movies in his rock suit.

Bell clearly was willing to do so, as he had limited time onscreen before the transformation, and then it's just his voice and motioncap for the remainder of the film.

Would Schreiber be interested in the same?

In the case of Doom, Fox went to great lengths to NOT have McMahon in the mask for a majority of both films. Hard to say what Kebbell thought of his screentime.

I think a good candidate for Ben Grimm would be Joe Manganiello -- he has the size and presence to carry off the character in both forms. Age wise wouldn't be too bad either.
