Superman Returns Howard Stern LOVES Superman Returns (he saw it yesterday)

Nah, good for him that he liked the Spider-Man movies... maybe I should re-think my opinion of said films.

Futher more, I still don't see many reasons not to be pesstimistic.

Superman still has a kid

Lois Lane is being played by a girl who looks all of 18 years old and she is the one who supposedly had this 5 year old child and is somehow a superstar journalist.

No Superpowered villians

Parker Possey

Kevin Spacey looks to be aping Hackman's Lex, which I hated.

It's a sequel to extremely dated 20+year old movies.

The Lex land deal thing seems to be the same story as the first movie.

And Singer directed the underwelming X-men movies and didn't do very well in the action department and I pretty much am very underwelmed with him as a director.

The Good things:

Er...maybe the early reviews are right?

The bad still outweighs the good.

Hope I eat crow after viewing it five or six months from now.

I SEE SPIDEY, looks like you are total Spidey fan, aren't you?

Lex has very logical plan.

No supervillian's fight will compare with throwing the whole continent to the space.

Spacey and Posey are great, just watch clips.

It is a vague sequel.

Why critics loved it? Because it is EXCELLENT movie.

I see you hate SR only because it is successful movie and can stand in competition with Spidey.

Singer made a great job. He doesn't make next stupid summer blockbustert with a lot of action and no sense.

He made the movie with logical aspects, smart dialogues, excellent story lines and with enough action, which returned Superman.

And his idea of the kid is new and fresh. It is something real and not so boring like usual superhero's love stories.

Wait, so--you're not looking forward to Superman.

you don't think it will work.

You don't like Howard Stern

You consider him a savage

So why on earth would you willingly go into a thread about what Howard Stern thinks about a Superman movie you don't want to even really watch? Just to get your whine on some more? Is that the grand ulterior motive here? We hadn't had enough of I SEE SPIDEYS particular brand of mashing the same single one note over and over again? Or are you hoping to draw other simpleminded posters into your snare and get them in an insipid Marvel vs DC fight? It's hard to tell. It's pretty obvious actual discussion isn't really a draw, mostly because you've pretty much openly admitted you're not interested in it, so that leaves a whole bunch of CRAP leftover as to why you'd wade in here and spout off.

Are you talking with me?

Read above, Cinnamon. You quoted while I was in mid-edit. Please fix that, thanks.

Also, helpful tip--you don't have to quote the entirety of every message every time you post.

Howard: I didn't know what other people thought, I know I walked out and I loved it. It was 2 hours and 38 minutes long and I wish it, you know what...

Howard: The 2 negatives I heard were that it was it was too long and I said it wasn't long enough they shoulda gone another SEVEN HOURS.

Howard: The only criticism I might have of the whole movie is I wish there was a new supervillain, and I wish we weren't back into Lex Luthor land but...

The first two quotes are why I think that if the space scenes were cut because WB feared the film was too long they were wrong. If the film is entertaining, people will watch just like the LOTR films. Not as long as "seven hours", though. :O Howard says the 2+ hours didn't seem to bother him since he was blown away by the film.

As for the supervillian quote? I couldn't agree with him more. It's time Superman fights supervillians on the following sequels. I just hope they bring one villian per film to avoid a "Batman and Robin" mess. Phantom Zoners count as a unit. ;)

Oh please, nobody is going to convince me that Singer didn't do a s**ty job on the action in both X-films
the actions scenes in X-Men 1, i admit, sub-par but 1) Singer was new to action and 2) he had a very tight schedule with a very limited budget. Singer did a pretty good job with the resources he had. watching Mystique and Wolverine fight was REALLY interesting.

...Nightcrawler and Logan's action sequences in X2 were NOT ****ty. Nightcrawler infultrating the White House is one of the most creative and well executed action scenes i've seen in a film based on a comic.

that is something that I don't even consider an opinion.
awww, too bad. glad to disappoint you but that IS just...an opinion...

wow,I'll bring the salt.

This is awesome The Biggest SOB for Superhero movie reviews [Howard Stern] . Love The RETURN of SUPERMAN to the big screen .

Just like Howard, you seem to have opinions as well. It's good to have opinions, doesn't mean they're right. Just wanted to remind you of that.

If you're going to let someone ELSE'S opinion determine your own opinion, that's plain sad. Really.

Futher more, I still don't see many reasons not to be pesstimistic.

When you want to be nothing but pessimistic, of course you're not going to see any reasons to be otherwise. In fact, you're probably ignoring the many pieces of evidence that show the film will most likely prove you wrong.

Superman still has a kid

That's pretty close-minded really. Wait until you actually see the idea in context before passing judgment. Oh wait, that would be too hard for you.

Lois Lane is being played by a girl who looks all of 18 years old and she is the one who supposedly had this 5 year old child and is somehow a superstar journalist.

I can understand this.

No Superpowered villians

Neither did Superman I, and it's generally regarded as the best comic book movie of all time, even better than your beloved Spider-Man movies, which seem to be inspired a lot by those films btw.

A supervillian doesn't have to be able to throw bombs or have 6 or however many arms to be a threat. If he can equal the protagonist in some way, he is a worthy villain.

From the clips, it looks like Lex's intellect and drive are more than a match for the Man of Steel.

Parker Possey

Kirsten Dunst. Nuff said.

Kevin Spacey looks to be aping Hackman's Lex, which I hated.

Considering they are improving aspects that were admittedly lacking in Hackman's Lex, I'd say they're doing a pretty good job of making Lex worthy of the character from what I've seen.

It's a sequel to extremely dated 20+year old movies.

Wow, yeah, ok. Your close-mindedness continues.

Again, if it wasn't for Superman The Movie, it's doubtful you'd be named I SEE SPIDEY and bashing anything other than the Spidey movies on some comic book movie forum.

The Lex land deal thing seems to be the same story as the first movie.

And Singer directed the underwelming X-men movies and didn't do very well in the action department and I pretty much am very underwelmed with him as a director.

Ok, fine. That's your opinion.

I and many, many others disagree. I personally enjoyed X2 more than either Spiderman movies and The Usual Suspects is simply one of the finest films in a long time. He has a damn fine track record for critical, audience, and financial success in his films.

More importantly, you can tell he puts everything into a film. He's had medical problems resulting from the stress he puts himself in to make a movie. He cares about the subject and story, and he is improving as a director.

Seriously, what is your purpose here? I never see you actually discussing Superman Returns. It's more of you waging some campaign to get people mad so you can compare Superman Returns -- a movie you haven't even seen yet -- to your beloved Spiderman movies.

You find the most lacking evidence to base your biased viewpoint on, and you already admitted you don't even like Superman as a character. Maybe I should go to the Spidey boards and find every opportunity to manufacture some unsubstantiated claim about how Spiderman 3 will suck and why. I won't do that, but maybe it would show you what you're doing.

I'm a huge Spidey and X-men fan but what Superman does in this movie blows anything away that they did and if you miss seeing it on the big screen you will be kicking yourself. Even if you hate certian elements of the story the movie is worth seeing. I was not impressed with what I heard about the movie but after seeing it, it all work very well. Not sure how the sequel with go but this movie will become a classic.

WOW

Cant believe it is so great movie.

Is it even better than BB? (in your opinion, of course).

I think that SR is going to be the movie event of the summer.

I can't really say it was better since I loved BB but since it is Superman and you really get a chance to see what Superman can do, the action scenes were amazing and better than BB. But I did like BB story a little better. So its almost a wash. I first saw BB on the IMAX and I can't wait to go see Superman Returns on the IMAX as well.

Glad that Howard loved it. I dont like Howard Stern but anything to promote the film. If he loved it then his fans will check it out. And that's good for business.

I'm starting to think that way as well. Ya know (and I'm not bashing the film or trying to rub anything in anyones face but) I think it's odd that we havent seen anything from POTC2. I mean that fiilm is only two weeks away and I have only seen a volvo tie in commercial. I don't know what their market strategy is but it's not working. If I wasnt so wrapped up in Superman and the supposed competition between the films I would have no idea that POTC2 is coming out. I hope they know what their doing because all I know about the film right now is that there is a volvo burried somewhere in the world.

I've seen the trailer quite a bit in the last few days for POTC2 and they also have the M&M's comercial. Not near as much as Superman but I think the first POTC is still fresh in a lot of people's minds and Disney is hoping that will bring them back to the theater and they are probably right. POTC2 may make more money but I really don't see how it could be better than SR.

strange, you saw the movie? does Routh's digital double stick out as much as people keep complaining about?
