The Avengers Hulk Vs Thor - The Movie Edition

Just as an aside the Hulk was weakened and the SS powered up (Banner was feeding him gamma ray energy) in that brief scene and that picture with Thanos is just some fan commissioned artwork. Not even a cover. Still yes Hulk can straight out lose physical fights - like any other power the writer can choose to play up or just ignore Hulks healing, dynamic strength, durability etc for the sake of the story. And thats the thing thats going to determine who wins between two rivals as closely matched as Hulk and Thor are in the comics.

lol didn't realize that when i found it. Some times you search for cover art and exerts from comics you run into stuff an wonder if its actually real or fan art.

Thor is more Durable than the Hulk

What?

The Hulk isn't known for bullets being able to kill him.

Any MARVEL trading card, or comic I've ever read, HULK has more endurance than any other character... Not Thor. Strength wise I'd equate Thor to Superman, thus Thor would take Superman with greater Powers, but I don't see either of them beating the Jade Giant! (I know, I know, NO, don't bring in DC into the convo! LOL!) Just my humble opinion... I love, Thor, Superman, Batman, and HULK! For the record.

old comics in someway suck for comparing characters. like the above Thor one, Thor is way more tank than that nowadays. if you scoured old comics i'm sure you could find plenty of pages where hulk is way weaker than he should be. i mean spider-man had trouble with the enforcers, regular human beings. in some interview stan said that he created hulk to be stronger than superman, yet in none of the old comics did he do anything that compared to what supes was doing in his own comics.

Thor getting killed by bullets is just bad writing. But there is a nice reaction speed feat there. Deflecting bullets. Hulk doesn't have those kinds of reflexes. Then again, he doesn't need them.

The problem is that while much of the artwork and storylines are canon, depending upon the writer and artist the characters have been depicted with different power levels through out the years. So, in some cases they might have Hulk coming out on top and in others they might have Thor coming out on top, while the majority of the time they seem to depict it as a draw. I don't think that you will ever hear Marvel say that Hulk is stronger than Thor or vice versa. The whole idea of comics is surrounded around the idea of using our imagination and as long as Marvel can keep us imagining who is stronger they will continue to have us captivated with debates like this one.

When Thor and Hulk clash in Avengers it will probably get broken up or it will be the scene where Hawkeye has to use his "magic" arrow to calm the Hulk down

I think it will probably get broken up also, with maybe Black widow calming Hulk down (as betty would normally do), and Cap talking Thor down after Cap has gained his respect. Just my thoughts though.

The problem with your argument is that in those "old comics" Thor had his highest feats. This is where all of Mjolnir's exotic powers were shown (some, never to be seen again). This is where Thor drove off Galactus, etc. Thor even did better against the Hulk back then than more recently.
Thor defeated Galactus. Just because he did it a long time ago doesn't make it less incredible. It's still canon.

As far as Hulk feats vs. Superman feats, 1) Marvel typically seemed to keep their feats a little more grounded than DC at the time 2) most of Superman's high-end feats are flight feats, while Hulks are not, and 3) the Hulk was way more consistent than Superman, who at times struggled to lift the Daily Planet globe and was hurt by a gasoline explosion.

I believe that "bad writing" was by Marvel Thor's creator, Stan Lee.
And the Hulk has caught a bullet in his mouth before, so he's got some pretty amazing reflexes. He's also been able to hit every speedster that has fought him.

Have any of you seen the German trailer? I just saw it and noticed a shot where Thor was bleeding. I think he was fighting the Hulk? Interesting to say the least. Looks like this battle is gonna be epic.

Bingo!:word:

How foolish of Stan Lee not to consult you when determining the powers of one of his creations. ;)

But about Superman. This is a guy that flew into a Super massive Black hole garbed the singularity and through it into a wormhole. So lol can't really compare Sups directly to Thor.

Plus he can fly in and out of universes at will under his own power. I think he was about to fly into heavn. :oldrazz:

I think that was pre-crisis sups.

*sigh* That is an extremely low showing, why didn't you go find the scans of Thor fighting an enemy in the core of the SUN or tanking a point blank range nuclear explosion?

I'm pretty sure Spider-Man almost knocked out the Hulk with a Volkswagen before, but I don't bring things like that up because low showings are not good representions of a characters abilities.

Yeah i have that issue....Hulk was playing possum

I get the feeling that there are notices all around the studios at Marvel that read something like "If you are working on a Thor vs. Hulk edition, Please do NOT declare a winner, or you will face termination!"

I only brought it up because Smashlilman said that Thor was more durable than the Hulk. I'd say they have comparable durability. My point was only that he's saying something as fact that really hasn't been established as fact in the comics, that's all.

I don't see how anyone who read comics could say Thor is more durable than Hulk.

i could be so very wrong on this, but i see the main difference between hulk and thor as being that Thor can become exhausted after a long battle. Where as hulk just gets stronger the longer he fights.

Actually, you're right. You have more chance to knock out the Hulk earlier in battle. The more the fight lasts, the harder its is to put him down.

Yea, easiest way to put Hulk down is to hit him hard and fast straight off the bat.
