The more and more I watch the news people are praising McCain's desicion to move the Convention as if it was a hard choice.

I see Bush will also not speak at the RNC, something that will probably help McCain.

How else do you think the canidates will use this maybe disaster storm to their advantage?

I think Bush is still speaking - just via satellite and not in person. Right now, the governor is demanding the Federal government release fuel from the federal reserves to compensate for the storm's damage.

It's nowhere close to being over yet, but thankfully it's nowhere close to Katrina.

Better than eating birthday cake.

Tropical storm Hanna has just been updated to hurricane status.

I fail to see how this is working to McCain's advantage. He did what any American who cares about this country should have done by not holding the first day of the convention so that everyone could remain focused on the disaster from Gustav.

If anything, this hurts McCain because he gets less airtime for the convention. Think about it.

I don't think it's doing McCain any favors. Our local news finally went to their RNC coverage about 10 minutes into the news last night, and their reporter basically had no news...there's nothing going on there. The primetime speeches are cancelled today, and the news about Palin's daughter breaking today are trumping the headlines about the RNC changes.

And I don't think people are going to consider changing the plans a sacrifice. It will be their actual response to the storm over the next few days that people want to see. Simply changing the RNC plans won't be enough--people will see that as a political ploy.

This has already been (and continues to be) discussed in the Republican National Convention thread.

This is hurting McCain significantly.
If the storm was not there, the news would ALL be about the Convention...yet, I saw almost nothing about it...
