"Riders On The Storm" - The Doors

Riders on the storm
Riders on the storm
Into this house we're born
Into this world we're thrown
Like a dog without a bone
An actor out on loan
Riders on the storm

There's a killer on the road
His brain is squirmin' like a toad
Take a long holiday
Let your children play
If ya give this man a ride
Sweet memory will die
Killer on the road, yeah

Girl you gotta love your man
Girl you gotta love your man
Take him by the hand
Make him understand
The world on you depends
Our life will never end
Gotta love your man, yeah

Wow!

Riders on the storm
Riders on the storm
Into this house we're born
Into this world we're thrown
Like a dog without a bone
An actor out on loan
Riders on the storm

Riders on the storm
Riders on the storm
Riders on the storm
Riders on the storm

 Jim Morrison was a poet... maybe a little on the tipsy side too. :D

This song was inspired from him seeing the aftermath of a deadly automobile accident as a kid, partly. It bothered him for years.

I don't really think of him as a poet, but as a lyricist.

Won't You Try/Saturday Afternoon by Jefferson Airplane

Won't you try
won't you try
won't you try
find a way to need someone
find a way to see
find a way to need someone and the sunshine will set you free
won't you try
with love before were gone
wont you try
wont you try
wont you try

saturday afternoon
saturday afternoon
when your head is feeling fine
you can ride inside our car
I will give you caps of blue and silver sunlight for your hair
all that soon will be is what you need to see, my love
won't you try
won't you try
I do care that you do see
Is it time to leave, my lady
yes it is I know
round about and everywhere sunshine instead of snow
times can't change that what I say is true

oooooh oooh
ill come through for you
and ill come through for you, my love
wont you try
wont you try
wont you try
wont you try
saturday afternoon
yellow clouds rising in the noon
acid incense and ballons
saturday afternoon
people dancing everywhere ,loudly shouting i dont care
its a time for growing and a time for knowing
saturday afternoon
saturday afternoon (wont you try)
saturday afternoon (wont you try)
saturday afternoon ( wont you try )
wont you try (saturday afternoon)
wont you try ( saturday afternoon)
wont you try
wont you try

A classic song, but I don't know what on earth it is about.

"Bohemian Rhapsody" - Queen

Is this the real life-
Is this just fantasy-
Caught in a landslide-
No escape from reality-
Open your eyes
Look up to the skies and see-
I'm just a poor boy, I need no sympathy-
Because I'm easy come,easy go,
little high,little low,
Anyway the wind blows, doesn't really matter to me,
To me

Mama, just killed a man,
Put a gun against his head,
Pulled my trigger, now he's dead,
Mama,life had just begun,
But now I've gone and thrown it all away-
Mama, oooo didn't mean to make you cry-
if I'm not back again this time tomorrow-
Carry on,carry on, as if nothing really matters-

Too late,my time has come,
Sends shivers down my spine-
Body's aching all the time,
Goodbye everybody-I've got to go-
Gotta leave you all behind and face the truth-
Mama oooo- (any way the wind blows)
I don't wanna die,
I sometimes wish I'd never been born at all-

I see a little silhouetto of a man,
Scaramouche, Scaramouche will you do the Fandango?-
Thunderbolt and lightning-very very frightening me-
Galileo, Galileo,
Galileo Galileo
Galileo figaro-Magnifico-

I'm just a poor boy nobody loves me
He's just a poor boy from a poor family-
Spare him his life from this monstrosity-
Easy come easy go-, will you let me go-
Bismillah! No-, we will not let you go-let him go-
Bismillah! We will not let you go-let him go
Bismillah! We will not let you go-let me go
Will not let you go-let me go
Will not let you go let me go
No, no, no, no, no, no, no-
Oh Mama mia, mama mia, mama mia let me go-
Beelzebub has a devil put aside for me, for me, for me-

So you think you can stop me and spit in my eye-
So you think you can love me and leave me to die-
Oh baby-Can't do this to me baby-
Just gotta get out-just gotta get right outta here-

oooo, oo yeah, oo yeah

Nothing really matters,
Anyone can see,
Nothing really matters-, nothing really matters to me,

Any way the wind blows....

BTW Maxwell, thanks for the info on "Riders On The Storm". Morrison was indeed a poet.

I found this out a few days ago, that Bohemian Rhapsody was one of the classic songs, written about nothing. Queen and the late Freddie Mercury just wrote it with no story to it.

Fire by Jimi Hendrix

Alright!
Now dig this baby!
You don't care for me,
I don't care about that.
You got a new fool,
Hah, I like him like that.
I have only one burning desire,
Let me stand next to your fire.
[Let me stand next to your fire] Hey, let me stand next to your
fire
[Let me stand next to your fire] Oh, let me stand baby
[Let me stand next to your fire] Let me stand
[Let me stand next to your fire] Yeah baby

Listen here baby,
Stop acting so crazy!
You say your mom ain't home,
It ain't my concern.
Just don't play with me,
and you won't get burned.
I have only one itching desire,
Let me stand next to your fire
[Let me stand next to your fire] Yeah, let me stand next to your
fire
[Let me stand next to your fire] Let me stand
[Let me stand next to your fire] Oh, Let me stand
[Let me stand next to your fire] Oh

Oh, move over Rover,
And let Jimi take over.
Yeah, you know what I'm talking about
Yeah!
Get on with it baby!

That's what I'm talking about.
Now dig this!
Ha!
Now listen baby!
You try to give me your money,
You better save it babe.
Save it for your rainy day.
I have only one burning desire,
let me stand next to your fire.
[Let me stand next to your fire] Oh, let me stand
[Let me stand next to your fire] Let me stand baby
[Let me stand next to your fire] I ain't gonna do you no harm
[Let me stand next to your fire] Oh

Yeah!
You better move it baby . . .
I ain't gonna hurt you baby . . .

So I guess if I retract that about being happy that Jerry Garcia died, and simply say that he was a drugged up, obese *****ebag who couldn't play guitar or sing worth s***, then, that's more appropriate?

Okay, I'm sorry. I retract the statement about being glad that Jerry Garcia killed himself, though I feel that he was a drugged up, obese, hairy *****ebag.

Better?

Actually I do like Eyes of the World. *shrug*

I love this song, and the lyrics: Walk Away by Franz Ferdinand. This band seems to be one of the few new bands with excellent lyrics.

I swapped my innocence for pride
Crushed the end within my stride
Said I'm strong now I know that I'm a leaver
I love the sound of you walking away
Mascara bleeds a blackened tear
And I am cold
Yes, I'm cold
But not as cold as you are
I love the sound of you walking away

Why don't you walk away?

Why don't you walk away?
No buildings will fall down
Why don't you walk away?
No quake will split the ground
Why don't you walk away?
The sun won't swallow the sky
Why don't you walk away?
Statues will not cry
Why don't you walk away?

I cannot turn to see those eyes
As apologies may rise
I must be strong and stay an unbeliever
And love the sound of you walking away
Mascara bleeds into my eye
I'm not cold
I am old
At least
As old as you are

As you walk away?

As you walk away
My headstone crumbles down
As you walk away
The Hollywood wind's a howl
As you walk away
The Kremlin's falling
As you walk away
Radio Four is STATIC
As you walk away

The stab of stiletto
On a silent night
Stalin Smiles
Hitler laughs
Churchill claps
Mao Tse Tung
on the back

Jimmy Page has never played anything original in his life. He stole from Clapton and others.

Check and mate.

LOL
if you want to bicker, let's at least do it in the REAL world. LOL

Clapton couldn't even begin to wrap his HEAD around Achille's Last Stand, Dazed and Confused live or the soul of Since I've Been Loving You. And he's SAID as much in countless interviews.
LOL
cute though.

You're entitled to your opinion, but saying that you were glad when he died is a bit much. And yes, he did do drugs, and yes he was obese, but he certainly was talented and definitely wasn't a *****e bag .

Music is very subjective, and you're entitled to your opinion, but I think I'm safe in assuming that most people will disagree with you.

And Jimmy Page is the greatest guitar player ever. Yes, he borrowed from certain musicians. But he was also able to do something completely original with it and thus make it his own. Zeppelin owns all other musicians, both past and present. Deal with it.

Zeppelin owns all musicians past and present? JESUS. You probably listen to Aerosmith and think they rank up there with the Stones and Floyd too.

Led Zeppelin are good, they're one of the better bands, but they are not the greatest band of all time. Pink Floyd, The Beatles, The Doors, The Grateful Dead, the Allman Brothers Band, Steely Dan, the Moody Blues, and others are all better than Zeppelin IMO.

And calling Jimmy Page the greatest guitarist ever? How much more pedestrian and Joe Sixpack can you get? Find some ****ing Frank Zappa and Steve Vai and educate yourself.

I'm not here to fight, but I will say that my friend's mom took mandolin or something lessons from him and said he was a raging ass****.

However I saw an episode of Maximum Exposure where a fan met him and called his friends and they didn't believe him and Jerry Garcia let the kid get his camcorder and hung out with him all day and chatted and waved to all of the kid's friends. So that was very cool.

I guess he was a human being.
But a human being whose music makes me wretch.
I'm done with it.

I happen to be EXTREMELY well educated in classic rock, Maxwell. I love all of those of bands. They are all great.

But there is no band, past or present, better than Led Zeppelin. They are just on another level. Their music speaks to me in a way no other musician can. They are geniuses. Absolute geniuses. Plant is one of the greatest lead singers ever (second only to Freddie Mercury, but only because his voice had more range). Jimmy Pae did things on the guitar that absolutely no one else was able to do. Listen to "Dazed And Confused". Absolute genius. John Bonham is the most underrated musician in rock ever. Along with Enthwistle, he is the greatest bass player ever. And when it comes to drumming, the only drummer comparable Bonham is Keith Moon. Other than that, Zeppelin are the greatest musicians ever. They are legends.

I wouldn't really say they were geniuses and own everyband ever, cos that's just nonsense. Sure, they're miles better than most, but they're not the greatest in my opinion.

Edit: Talking about the Led here.

And Steve Vai would smoke Jimmy Page if you held a contest between them to see who was better.
